They were definitely the most versatile. They could play rock, blues, straight country, western swing, R & B and jazz and countless combinations of all those.

I was at this concert in 1981at the Garden State Arts Center. The Marshall Tucker Band was my favorite band. I think it was my 10th time seeing them. God bless Tommy, Toy and George. I think they were the band that did not get the credit they deserve. When my 4th child was born I went away from naming him after someone else. I named him Tucker. I went to a graduation party 2 years ago. I met a lady from Spartanburg, SC. She was the great aunt of the graduate. She was in their class in Spartanburg. She asked me: "You remember the Marshall Tucker Band?". I said "I sure do". I remember being in that crowd loving life. Their energy and music will live on for ever!

@ Kim: I am a Guitar player for about 45 years now. When it came to learning my craft, the guy I studied was indeed Toy Caldwell. Unlike those that you mentioned, he had the uncanny talent to draw you in to his music, using tremendous dynamics. He truly had a gift for that. He used no pick, none I agree, he was the most under-rated guitarist to come along. Had he lived you may have had a different opinion.

No fancy props, no pyros, no smoke machines, no auto tune, no lyp-sync, just some great music that is truly "live" and a whole lot of folks who have southern rock in their blood. Long live the music of Marshall Tucker, Skynrd, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Tangier, Allman Brothers, Mason Profitt. And God bless TEXAS!! and all my southern neighbor States.

    • @CrimsonThorns
      @CrimsonThorns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Fuzzy - Mason Profitt was fronted by the Talbot Brothers [John and Terry]. A few years back Wounded Bird Records released their music on cd. I got them quickly..now they are out of print and very expensive on Amazon and Ebay. Search them out brother...they are worth the owning .

  • @ventifamily

MTB are the most down home humble guys you will ever meet. They never miss an opportunity to shake a hand, give a hug or take a photos with their fans before the shows and after when time allows. Everyone is their friend and treated like family.
Their shows are filled with favorite songs, with Doug Gray leading the pack and getting the audience involved. Always telling jokes and stories of days gone by.
BB rocks out on the drums like no drummer I have ever seen before. He means for you to feel every beat of those drums.
Tony helps hold down the bottom. A talented musician and looks great on stage.
Marcus is one multi-talented individual! Whether it's keyboards, flute, sax...he is a master. He sings pretty good too!
Rick's singing and guitar playing is pretty awesome. Truth be known, he has the best hugs of them all ;-)
Chris' heart and soul is put into everything he does whether it singing or playing the guitar.
My review, I am a friend and not a pro at writing, but I do know what I like and I dearly love these guys. Take your butt to a show and check them out! Over 45 years strong and still got "it".

country , way before the country now . Lost in their own country music . Played on some rock stations [can"t you see ] never on country stations . they would be hits now days on any country station . They exsisted in their own world , and some of us experienced it , they were something ! Ask Charie Daniels ......or Hank Williams Jr.

perhaps the BEST version (on video), of the BEST song they've ever done. In my book, that is. Just sayin'...If you love this song (and you are here cuz you do), I highly recommend getting the single disk CD called Stompin' Room Only. It's the best live recording of any MTB concert that I know of...

I love that band I'm 57 when I was 26 I found the old poster that my brother got when he watched them play in Indianapolis Indiana it was 5 $ And 50 cents $6.50 day of show and Babcock and somebody else sponsor it I believe it was at market square arena Had the poster restored and put on a piece of plywood with polymere I think it called 75 bucks back then turned around he snacks wife he married that was her favorite band and he ended up buying it from me for a $150 didn't really want to sell it but he talked me into it so all I got is the picture Still got a VHS type of the Calderon brothers I think it's called longhard ride and it shows them riding horses with the song

Frank Wilkie is playing bass so it's after Tommy passed away as you know, I would say this is around 1983. I grew up in Spartanburg living not far from Toy in the Walnut Grove community he sure was a hoot to be around. This is a real group of guys nothing fake or star struck about them. Just good down home country boys.

  • @stevenwillis270

This lineup was and is there best in my opinion unfortunately I was too young to see them live! But I did get to see Toy live in a 3 piece band he had in Rochester back in 91 and he was awesome and I did see Doug and his lineup also but without Toy ir Tommy and Paul it just wasn’t the same 🤷‍♂️ but I have their first 10 years in vinyl and cds so I can relive that beautiful music they created every day what a great generation to grow up with 😊
