- Finally i got around to melting this Heavy 71 KG electric motor down. I extracted all the copper and melted it down for an aesome couple of copper bars to chuck on my shelf.

HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it👌🏻😁.

This is what he said on a Reddit Forum: "Actually buddy I work on an industrial site as a Plant operator and have done so for the last 20 years, before I started melting I started collecting the scrap cables and copper from out of the scrap bins at work as some of the electricians are too lazy to take it back where they store and just sometimes throw out 5- 10-15 Metres worth of brand-new cable🤦🏻♂️. My boss is a good friend of mine and we regularly have a drink together so he allows me to take metal and motors from work when I find them. I originally got into this as purely a hobby and that’s why I always stacked up my pieces and never sold them as I didn’t care if I spent a bit of money here and there I was just having fun and melting down stuff that I get for free but now I make some good ad revenue so I will continue to do it and hopefully in a few years if everything keeps ramping up like it is I could do this for a living that would be awesome. people buy the motors by the ton. you pay a price whic varies at most scrap yards. you tend to get about a 3rd of the weight of the motor sometimes more of the total weight in copper. so you can work out how much you will make by stripping the motors. some of the motors are aluminium or cast. which helps with really big ones. they vary in size from as big as a coin to as big as a house. burning them is the quickest way of stripping them.

That shelf is one of the coolest thing I have ever seen. Also really cool that you put in the end of the video the value for that amount of copper in different countries. I live in Brazil and here in my city copper is R$30 the kg, so 6,12kg would be R$183,60, but it can vary for other cities, some places are half this price, so R$162 (like you put in the video) is pretty close

I can’t see a face or voice reveal any time soon as I like to keep it simple and people seem to like my style with no music no talking just the sounds of the furnace and garage plus if I started to talk people would quickly realise I really don’t know what I’m doing but I’m pretty sure that’s obvious in some of the castings I do. I’ve only been doing this for four years and it’s all self taught from trial and error and other TH-cam videos 👌🏻😁. Thanks for watching my friend

My parents are the caretakers of an apartment building. Last week cleaned out the boiler room where the old owners kept a bunch of spare parts, found a bunch of old stove burners, the kind that are spirals of metal. Started wondering what they're made of and how much a Devil Forge furnace costs... nah.
If you move to a new house, you probably going to rip all the old cables and smelt them lol
