Great advice and thanks for sharing your strategies on building jazz vocabulary. I’ve done many transcriptions through the years and even memorized many of them but only little chunks in one key would ever show up in my playing. I recently embraced the idea of learning 1, 2, 4, and even 8 bar chunks of info from my favourite solos in all keys and I really feel like it’s taking my playing to a whole new level. As you say, my confidence has gone way up knowing that I have lots of solid info (that I love and chose to learn deeply) that I can call on in all keys if I need it and it’s going to add to my solos. Excellent ear training as well.
