Spot on video, thank you very much. I have just changed mine and found a quick modification that makes live very easy. By simply drilling a hole in the plastic cover and just using a T30 screwdriver.
Great video. Did you change the cables as the brakes was sticking or too many notches when you pull the handbrake lever that fails an MOT. Thanks (I have calipers that stick).
@@whichdoctor4858 the front calipers had been standing for some months now, unused. In the end I got new calipers which is what I wanted to convey as the best thing to do when faced with sticking front brakes. renewing the flexi cables is also a good thing to do if old and will aid the free flow of fluid back up to reservoir.
Greatings Harvey. That is good educational content. I had an idea for a video with Fabia. Has you live in an rusty environment and the car has 20 years maybe it is good idea to do a video about locating and cleaning the battery ground points that are spread in chassis and body. The manual locate them. That will help. Thank you and live an healthy life.
They are pre-stretched. Being under the car exposed to the elements with winter FREEZE-THAW eventually effects the materials and lubrication between the inner cable sheath and cable guide. Debris can enter the ends and stiffen up movement or jamb. There can be differences between the cables causing imbalance. It's a good idea to regularly pump the handbrake a number of times to ensure it's functioning well.
Yep cable not exactly the same, but same length. this one came without the plastic feral clips, but it doesn't make a difference as the clip on the trailing arm holds it in place in the caliper lever. Works fine :-)

Hmm, you also drill a hole in the bonnet to change the spark plugs for quick pit stops :-D

Noted, great idea, thanks, need to find them first :-)
What makes these cables go bad? Do they stretched?
