Was listening to Betty Carter, AND this showed up out of the blue... I remeber You... And when the angels ask me to recall... I'll Tell them it was You... Never Heard this singer AND Band before... I am floored, I'm numb... Quite confortably I must add... She Is an amazing scat singer... Band displays over the top playing... Muchas gracias ❤Jazzmeia & Band
This Is unvelievable, I'll pinch myself... Or if that fails, Well there's always ice cubes in The sink, like Paul Newman in The Sting or Butch Cassidy, You just sink your face on them cubes... Nuff Said ❤
No nonsensical approach... Jazzmeia Horn Is mind blowing... I'll say she sings to my heart ❤ Double bass player Is phenomenal... Ditto piano Man and drummer 💛
@@OrangeJuliusMusic I was blown away too. I wasn't familiar with Jazzmeia, and decided to check her out when I saw that she came ahead of Veronica Swift in the Monk competition. The best part about discovering new jazz artists is discovering even more new artists working with them.
Fabulous scat performance! Amazing ALL AROUND! everyone is so good! So wonderful to see women instrumentalists! So happy to see young people of the U.S. carrying on with one of the great American Art FORMS -- JAZZ!!!
She is the real deal. Guaranteed going to the top because she's in the tradition and an original who can scat as well as anybody currently on the planet.
You don't realize how much girls are underrepresented in jazz till you're listening without watching the video, and during the killer bass solo, you happen to take a look at who's playing, and when you see it's a girl, you almost cry
I don’t think it is fair to use the word underrepresented here (that is if you implied some kind of discrimination). If there are not many girls playing double bass it is by choice. In jazz (and music in general) if you play well you suceed 🤷♂️
@@dionysis_ It’s not that simple. Jazz was a boys club for a long time and even though it’s starting to open up, representation still matters. You think a guy would join a high school jazz band if the only people in it were girls?

Great ensemble of musicians, loved Jazzmeia's style of singing. I am sharing this video with my teenaged daughters to view. Have you tried NPRs Tiny Desk or to be interviewed by the local KERA radio or tv station?
A new interpretation of an old standard that really swings. Often artists ruin standards by trying a new take that doesn't work. I'd say that's right up there with Ella's version. Written by Johnny Mercer for his lover Judy Garland, so they say.
C'est une bonne interprétation au début mais je n'aime pas la suite, elle se prend pour un saxophone ! Je préfère la version de Sarah , au moins elle , elle chante, elle n'énumère pas des sons sans queue ni tête !
Are we gonna gloss over that woman’s bass solo?! Absolutely incredible.
That pianist is my dream as a singer.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 i love playing with singers
@@OrangeJuliusMusic Just subscribed to your channel, u play so goodddd
Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald. Your legacy lives on this jewel of jazz
Betty too
Definitely Betty Carter, first.
Remember DD Bridgewater.

Yeah. Piano player intensely watching her- that’s a great accompaniment. 👌and Jazzmeia-IS an instrument!
He's a top professional..
Yeah, Julius is into the harmonics of Phineas Newborn Jr. and Bill Evans: That's as advanced as you can get on piano. Like having 3 hands.
It's like a talent bomb went off in that room...wow
That’s some mighty fine piano playing!
thank you! would've been better had we gotten to rehearse...of course the first show on my first tour with Jazzmeia was the taping 🙄🤦🏾♂️
@@OrangeJuliusMusic You killed it. That was tight solo

Very good shit
The future of burps
Wow, this pianist and bassist are throwbacks and reclamation of the jazz greats
Play ya'll
Jazzmeia's voice just captivates and holds you as you listen to the last word and anticipates the next....then she takes flight!
Ronald Martin exactly !!

The head wrap leaves me speechless. Then there's a little bit of Billi Holiday in her voice. Yep, this is beautiful
This should have 120 million views
spread the word sister
That's the population of Japan
subime!!!!!!...........this is why jazz is the greatest music on the planet!
Timing. How to scat - starting at the highest point - bass and piano and drums are outstanding.
What else is there to say?
jazz is not dead! not at all
the bass player solo..amazing
A riveting performance: Jazzmeia's endless inventiveness is matched by the two fabulous solos from the pianist and the bassist. Wow!
fantastic pianist !!

I miss the verse of the tune. She made me remind Betty Carter.
Holy shit
It's amazing that you have so many listeners that cannot hear your intonation problems. GET A MONITOR or LISTEN to the PLAYBACK.
I think The Manhattan Transfer would be proud of that "Caravan" scat.

Delicious
Very June Christy...then very Ella. Go you good thing! XXX
What is the problem with video speed?
She reminds me of Lisa Murray.
Sarah Vaughan and Rachelle Ferrell with a pinch of Miss Ella.

Jazz is literally in her name, I mean.. come on, what did you expect??
She sounds like a young Carmen McCray.
Some if her stuff I don't like, it can be a little unsympathetic to the original material she covers. THIS, however, is damn cool....
C'est une bonne interprétation au début mais je n'aime pas la suite, elle se

ok, ok, still a very young voice.
