Just use your solar fence pwr unit to supply the bubbler and consider adding a bit of salt to water as cows always need salt and trace minerals. Great video, and thanx for your videos for us ranchers!
On our tank we have a water value on a 10 gallon tub with a leaker on it. It’s pretty good job not freezing. That cattle get water yay. The only thing that sucks is my 4-h Steer doesn’t get water like the cows do. So 5 gallon buckets at a time yay 😂 but we we rotate the cattle every day more then once in the summer. It’s nice 100% grass fed sadly not many ppl understand what grass fed means but the hunters. So it’s hard to sell. But I love it tho. It’s a nice simple job when the cattle ain’t dragging the ploy wire across the pasture as it’s wrapped around there foot 😂.
Good start Jason, I think it should be in the middle and the air should coming from the bottom. Yes insulation is next, oh you probably got it insulated by now since you said you were going to try it. At my age 68 I still have to try new things many times to get it right. I have never heard of anyone converting the fence power to some kind of heat. If we had some kind of charge controller to change the power down to 120 volts.
The only reason I had it bubbling towards the front was to make sure to have an opening in the ice where the cattle would drink. I am in the process of insulating a tank. Time will tell! I am not sure the fence can power anything but I will be testing it.
Not very well. The battery didn't hold voltage overnight when the temps dropped. I'd return the following day to a dead battery and a air hose with frozen water in it. I haven't thrown in the towel on it, I just think it need a bigger battery and case to store everything in.
You didn't have a control set up for comparison. To fully understand what, if any, difference it made... you really need another tank set up without a bubbler to see the difference. A control tank may have had two inches of ice on it for all we know. Really what it boils down to is that if water gets cold enough it's going to freeze, movement or not.
True that buddy! I should have but at the same time I wanted to show what I learned. There will be several videos on this over this winter in hopes it will help others in the future. Next time I will drag another tank to the back of the farm just for you. lol BTW, I never got my pumpkins!😜
@@GrazingAcresFarm Don't need to drag it anywhere as long as the temps are the same, just needs to be a similar size and gallon content. Sold all the pumpkins that were good and the deer ate the rest, lol.
Sorry it didn't work out first time around. Was that turned down with your voltage regulator to the same as the first video? If so you might just increase the power flow a little to get more bubbles before going to the trouble of insulating. That's assuming the battery could handle it. Good luck!
It's how experimenting goes, sometimes you have to repeat a few steps to reach your goal. Just like my hay cart, I had to keep trying different ways to lift a bale to master my setup. It was turned down to extend the battery life. Turn it up too much and it may not survive the night.
One test is worth a thousand expert opinions!!
Something like that. lol
Good luck brother
All I can do is keep trying new things until something works. Thanks!

I've never heard of hooking something to the fence to get power, how would that work?

Bigger Bubblier
You could be right. I found a better one too.
Post polarvortex, how'd you make out

Good point on moving the stock tank! I will keep that in mind for the next comparison.

Probably a bad idea as fence is charged with way to many volts!
What about a aquarium heater? Its only $20 to $30
Is that solar powered? If so, I bet that would drain the battery very fast. Plus, then I would have to worry about the cattle getting to the heater.
Bubbler
Depending on who you ask bubbler is spelled bubblier. Google says your way is wrong. lol Thanks though!
Fail on that one bud
Back to the drawing board! lol
