This is very helpful. Thank you. A few quick questions: I am downloading the new navigation updates from the Kia site onto a flash drive on my laptop. You mentioned it briefly, but should I cut and paste the original files from the SD card onto my laptop (to back it up) to make the SD card empty and then copy the updated files stored on the flash drive directly onto the SD card? Also, when I remove the SD card from the head unit, does the vehicle need to be turned off? I haven't tried this before and just wanted to know if this would cause any damage to the head unit software or if it made any difference if the vehicle was on or off when removing the SD card. I plan on keeping the vehicle running when inserting the SD card and for the duration of the updates. Thanks again.
I’m very happy that the video was useful and helpful. Thank you for watching! Yeah I backed up the original files from the sd card. Just to be safe. I then erased the original files from the card and copied over the new ones. I would recommend it. It’s probably the safer idea to eject the card while the card is off. And reinsert while it’s off. tried this for my 2020 kia forte gt. followed all steps and had it directly save everything from the program to usb drive. will not work! just says insert drive containing update and try again, like it wont recognize it. tried 2 different flash drives. does it need to have nav built in for this to work? mine does not have navigation, only through android auto
Is there a way to update into an European version? My Dutch neighbour bought a Forte yesterday, which is imported from The States. The navigation shows Detroit. All fun, but he lives in The Netherlands. The car dealer (not a KIA dealer) told him that this easily can be updated by downloading the latest software. However.....this model is not available in Europe. Therefore ......can this problem be solved?

I’ve noticed after watching this video a few times, that my 2020 Kia forte GT-line radio looks identical but it doesn’t have that (NAV) button. Would this upgrade software still work for anything else for my system?
Sadly, it seems like the makers of this software have patched the program so that you cant change region. However, i'm working on seeing if there's a workaround. In regards to your question, it seems to depend on if you have a SD card slot in your car

My 2020 Kia Forte FE doesn't have an SD card slot, and when I typed in my software version to find my update it said 2019 Kia, is that normal? Thanks if you see this
hello dear, quick question, is the map implemented in the file? meaning when i download the software update, would the update include canada (or the other two regions) or just the software update? because i live in lebanon and i would like to update my unit. i just want to make sure before i download it. on the other hand, i don’t want to have a foreign country map, no offence😊 PS:No SD card in my Cerato 2020 (Forte) just usb port (data) and i don’t have the navigation included in my 8” unit. thanks in advance!
hey bud, what trim kia forte do you have? i have the 21 version kia forte lxs and I don't believe i have a sd card slot anywhere in the car? can i use the usb port with a thumb drive in my car?

My 2020 GT doesn't have an SD slot. Strange they would include include nav on certain forte models but not others.
Same on my GT. I believe it is only on the Ex, as a certain package on that trim enables navigation, as our GTs do not.

First download the update to a usb flash drive then go to the settings go to update then put in the usb the click update.

Question: Do you copy over the new files to the existing SD card or do you delete the existing files 1st before copying?

I copied the existing files to my pc just as a backup, just in case. Then I deleted them off the sd and transferred the new ones over

@@PlutonicHat25 used a usb stick with the files and all it did was play the sounds in the update files thru the stereo. Gave up after that

You can update via a USB drive if you don’t have the sd card slot in your car. Just keep in mind, it’ll update everything except for maps
