Oddly enough on a team fully of extremely likable guys, he is my favorite player on the team. The guy is clutch, even coach says its hard to take him out of the lineup. Unfortunately, I don’t see how we can keep him long term with all the prospects we have coming up. He could be great to package in a trade.
HIs greatest value is when he gets on base, but his OBP is not much better than his BA. Dude should be trying any possible way to get on base but he just doesn't walk.
Definately extend him. He's expressed being happy with wanting to help the team in any way that he can. Seems to br ok with his limited role...and when you consider how dynamic of a player he is. It's a no brainer. Also, I'm not sure how they're calculating his defensive value with those metrics (the arm strength part, I get), and maybe there's more to what I'm seeing, but he appears to have elite defense.
Funny, just 15 minutes ago I was thinking that the Orioles may extend Mateo (particularly if he also plays CF). And then I saw your video on my feed. Thank you! Excellent analysis. I would say he’s worth keeping but for reasonable funds. I’m not sure what kind of trade potential is there.
Before I watched the video: I think he is a good extension peice as long as he does not ask for too much, really starting to develop as a hitter and can really play any position that we will need. I dont think we will need him for the long term but definitely the next few years to give Holiday and everyone else some days off and breathers. Also a perfect pinch bat and runner just all around good debth.

I'd be cool with an extension. Not sure any guy in our system hits righty, mashes lefties, and can play 2b/SS/CF.

2-3 extra years won’t hurt . I think he’s contracted through 26 right now
