- The trade rumor winds are swirling around Garrett Crochet after Jeff Passan revealed that the White Sox are open to trading him. Recently BR did a top 10 for destinations and proposed 5 trades. Lets take a look at the top 10 & 3 of the trades AND present 2 of our own. We'll be talking about Garrett Crochet for the Braves, Orioles, Padres and Brewers.

That bit at the beginning about big market teams being included in every trade convo was accurate and really funny.
Sox fan here. I know my team stinks but I think we should keep our pitching. Crochet and Fedde have been decent and now Thorpe looks promising as well. They'd make a decent 1-3 for a rotation...
Wait, why is the Orioles trade for Crochet MUCH less than the Padres and Brewers? The Orioles give up 0 in the top 100? 😐 Did I miss something here? (Also that's a big NO for me on the Padres side)
I couldn’t agree more. If they’re trading a cost controlled pitcher for a couple of more years, I would need some top prospects for him.
Povich and Norby are on some top 100 lists. Just not MLB pipeline.

Jim, Orioles fan. Your proposed trade is really good, with the exception of Povich. The Orioles love him. I would substitute Chayce McDermott and you probably have a fair trade.
Its an overpay for a dude with no track record and who has hit his innings limit this year already… we dint need him and we certainly dont need his injury risl with three arms down already

As a SOX fan, I’d rather keep Crochet and Roberts and build around them.
Crochet is not going anywhere in my opinion Robert is definitely getting moved in the summer

For the O's trade, i do not see them giving up Povich, but maybe McDermott.
So Norby, McDermott, and maybe one other player. Basillo is not going anywhere. He prob makes the major roster when McCann's contract is up.

David Stearns gets this done for the Mets, in my opinion. They trade at deadline to stockpile system giving them flexibility to trade existing offensive talent. They sign him beyond ‘26. This debate is too focused on current contenders….wrong.
Gary crochet needs to go to the Orioles and we need to trade the second overall catcher prospect and then we need to trade Austin Hayes and some more prospects. Maybe that pitcher prospect with the Orioles need some pitching it's just Corbin, Burnes and Grayson Rodriguez, and Cole Irving. But thankfully will get back Dean creamer. We must probably lost Kyle Bridge for the season. We need pitching desperately

No way the Braves trade AJSS straight up for Chrochet, and you want to add Ritchie and Nacho?
You have to understand that AJSS and Waldrep are pretty much untouchable. So that leaves Schwellenbach, Elder, Vines, Dodd, and Winans as our trade chips.
Needless to say, that won't get us any of the bigger name trades.
You can't ignore the fact that he's never started very long and we don't know how long he'll hold up pitching this many innings.
Baseball trade values is actually probably only undervalueing the jays guys by a little bit but not by that much. As far as the Braves go they don't have the farm system to make a high impact trade this year. AA would be very stupid to make a trade that would impact the future of the club given how volatile they are pitching wise in the rotation and in the farm system.
Please bring him to the Braves

In his age-25 season, the southpaw has a 3.33 ERA across 14 starts with 103 strikeouts to just 17 walks.
The Yankees rarely make big in season trades. They're aggressive in the offseason, not at the deadline. At least, that's the way Cashman operates.

making big trades happen and with Yu Darvish out of the the Padres lineup it makes perfect sense to land a stud like Crochet!
Let me stop you for a sec with the Padres. They most definitely will NOT trade both Snelling and Lesko. One of the two but not both. Just as you mentioned

The White Sox want bats anyways. The Padres really don't have any to offer besides Salas. Obviously you're not trading Salas for Crochet.
Aint gonna happen. AA is cheap but he knows wtf he is doing. Plus the players they would want from the Braves just wouldn't make it worth it for us. AA ain't gonna get rid of AJSS. Nope.
Unfortunately I think the Padres will make the trade. Padres GM his job is on the line. Table overpay for him.
all these trade's suck! here's and idea don't trade away the 25 year old stud pitcher under control on the cheap! and just a thought if we do trade maybe NOT trade for a catcher since we just brought one up and our 3rd prospect is a C still

Your argument for Crochet's value vs Luzardo is legitimate, they should be closer. But Luzardo should be higher, not Crochet lower. If Crochet is 32, let's assume he'll make $13m the rest of his contract. That means you think he'll produce $45m total value over the next 2.5 yrs. At $9m/war, that is 5 WAR over the next 2.5 years. By saying you think Crochet is a 32, you are saying he'll only produce 5 total war in the next 2.5 years. I'll take the over on that. He's on pace for 5 WAR just these season (so 2.5war the rest of this year).
What you should do with your audience is break down the value first. If a buyer/seller don't agree on value, then you don't have a market. Getz is not selling at 5WAR value over 2.5 years. Ask your audience how much total WAR Crochet will produce in the next 2.5 years.
I also agree on your comments on some of the prospects. I think a contending team is more likely to trade from the lower levels (A, A+) than upper levels (AA, AAA) just for depth purposes. So comparing the Padres offer (Snelling, Lesko, De Vries) to the Brewers (Mis, Quero, Wilken), if their values were equal, the Padres deal is more likely because those are all players further from the majors. If I'm the Orioles, I'm probably not trading Povich just for that fact, he's already at the majors. Like you said, Getz wants a deep package. He'll get one, but probably A and A+ players, maybe AA. Crochet comes with risk but so do A and A+ players (more so than AA and AAA).
Elias will compare the prices of Crochet vs Luzardo and go with the cheaper one.

@@brandonbooth3231 Remember they are just prospects. The White Sox got the number one prospect in baseball (Moncada) and one of the top pitching prospects (Kopech)when they traded Chris Sale. Both of them have been busts. Keep holding onto your prospects and they should win a title in Triple A.
