- What a delight! This WHITE BEANS and HAM SOUP is a healthy and delicious classic, it is packed with flavor and texture. I love to prepare this hearty soup during chilly or cold days because it just hits the spot. The combination of flavors from the seasoning and textures makes it a winner. I added two pieces of smoked neck bones, diced ham, carrots, celery, onions and diced tomatoes, and i seasoned it well with rubbed sage, dried thyme and dried Rosemary to make it an all time favorite. If you’re looking for a healthy soup, look no further. I hope you give this recipe a try..❤️

INGREDIENTS ________________
1 lb. Great Northern Beans
2 celery ribs (diced)
1 1/2 C. diced onions
3 small / medium carrots (bite size pieces)
3 large garlic cloves (finely minced )
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp butter
2 pieces Smoked neck bones (or ham hock)
2 C. Cubed ham
1 tsp. Dried Thyme leaves
1 tsp. Crushed Rosemary
1/2 tsp rubbed Sage
1/2,tsp black pepper
2 1/2 Tbsp Chicken Bouillon (Knorr)
1 Tbsp Tomato Paste
1/2 tsp. ground Cumin
1 1/2 tsp. Ground dry mustard
1 diced tomato
2 Bay leaves
8 C. water
Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

I love this woman , she's one of the best cooks around, i am 76 years old and i am an excellent cook myself , owned my own restaurant . i can look at 5 different recipes and i will do Rachel's all the time , she's just the best . she can cook anything and it will come out a top notch dish every time.

This is the best bean soup I have ever made. I love it. I had a large ham bone to use and it worked wonderful in this recipe. Instead of 5 stars, I am giving this instead. 😋😋😋😋😋

Oh what I wouldn't give for a bowl of this deliciousness on this chilly afternoon. My dear Rachel, yet another pot of comfort and love you've presented us. I haven't been able to fully use my kitchen for the past two weeks as the remodeling has the house upside down right with everything just about covered in dust. Talk about daily dusting! Hopefully I should be back to fully use it by the end of next week and this looks like the perfect soup to try. I'll figure out how to modify for Johnny for sure. If it’s a Rachel recipe, I know I am going to love it! I love explaining WHY you do things, it helps with all my cooking. I never knew about browning your flour for a rue! This recipe called for cumin and tomato paste, which I don’t like cumin and I didn’t want to open a whole can of paste for a tablespoon. Grrrrrr……I did improvise and added several large handfuls of leftover dressing which I make with pork sausage! Amazing flavor! She’s right about the larger carrots! A must! I could not wait for the beans when I tasted the broth! So yummy!!!

I also made ham and bean soup too. I used my leftover ham bone from thanksgiving and it had a little ham on bone so I asked my husband to take off some and cut into cubes. I put potatoes, carrots, celery, onion and I used can northern beans came out so delicious... I'm watching your video and eating a bowl of my soup so good. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
