One item checked off our bucket-list. We got to hike Mount Longonot
a pocket-friendly and family-friendly destination, located approximately 90 Kms out of Nairobi. She sits majestically on the Great Rift Valley floor and can be admired from the surrounding escarpments.
Mount Longonot gets her name from her physical features. The name Longonot is derived from the Maasai word “Oloonong'ot”, which means "mountains of many spurs" or "steep ridges”.
Her most iconic feature is the thick forest that is nestled within her crater. From her peak one enjoys panoramic views of the breath taking Rift Valley floor.
Mount Longonot is ideal for a one-day hiking trips .It's 9 km rugged and steep trail grants one the perfect full body workout, as you enjoy the scenic views.
Provides the perfect family get away location,as kids as young as 4 years and adults of up to 70 years can take part in the challenge of conquering the Mountain.
