For a long time, I've always wondered why EXIT signs are not connected to the fire panel to flash or change color when the panel goes into alarm. I'm glad to see that someone else had the same thought!
Kinda reminds me of my dad's office. The main alarms there are Wheelock MT-24-LSM's set to horn, high volume. Believe me, that is my loudest experience I have had, at least. The pull stations are Simplex 2099-9795 single action T-bars. And there are also EST Genesis horn/strobes in the garage with Chevron pulls that are rebranded Faraday.
I had a fire drill yesterday. The alarm in my classroom was this in continuous, and the ones in the hallways are: EST Genisis, Simplex 4903-9236??, and System Sensor Mass, all in Continuous and Code 3
@@ShaynaPulley my school didn't care they just threw us in the middle of an incredibly loud hallway and told us "Best of luck!" xD in fact, they still do that
love how the exit sign flashes and i like when its not sync cause of the strobes it looks awesome in all of my schools they where never sync and i love it lol
It might not be a drill it could just be an annual test/inspection. I know there were editing involved but all of the scenes including the one at the beginning when the system is first triggered show the halls as empty so that is what makes me thing it's a test or inspection.
When did the flashing exit lights come available on fire alarm systems? I know originally the sound indicators were the first invented. Then eventually lights that lit up while the alarm sounds came out. I think the fire doors came before the indicator lights but I may be wrong. And eventually the strobes were invented. Now days even smoke ventilation fans which technically suck the heat out of the building during an alarm in the winter.
Sure. A sync module is a device that synchronizes horns and strobes so that they sound and flash at precisely the same time without any delays. The alarms in this video are not connected to any such module.
1:02 kinda reminds me of the day I had my first fire drill, I cried a lot during that first fire drill. (I was in kindergarten) I heard the principal over the loud speaker say: “Teachers, again, THIS JUST A DRILL. THIS JUST A DRILL.”
Is that the buildings second fire alarm system? I noticed many of the Wheelock AS horn/strobes had the tubing around the wiring with the electrical box outside the wall and most buildings the original fire alarm system is wired completely inside the wall and alot of buildings now days from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and some even from the 70s the original fire alarm system was disabled and replaced with a more modern system. All 4 of the schools I attended no longer have their original system. Both of my elementary schools along with my middle school had the original system during my attendance and my high school renovated before my attendance so they had a modern system which was wired inside the walls as the school underwent renovation. And for my other 3 schools. My first Elementary (opened in 77) now days the pull stations are wired inside the wall as they are the same mounts as the originals as the signals are wired outside of the walls. And my second Elementary school (opened in 65) along with my middle school (opened in 56) now days the pull stations and the indicators are wired outside of the walls. And my middle school some of the original single stroke fire bells are still there but not active. My high school opened in 49 but underwent renovation from 96-99 so basically all locations of the original fire alarms both pull stations and bells the modern pull stations and horn strobes were installed where the original pull stations and bells were. Along with additional horn strobes in rooms where noise is common and strobes in all classrooms.
I've been to 2 School's that had Wheelock AS's and yes thier ear pricing loud and I got to set them of when I was in the 8th grade. (with permission ofcoures)
My job has Advances, AS's 2 gentex Commander 3s (so far the building is bigger than what I've seen so far), ZNS and ZRS's, and L series alarms. The Gentex Commanders are the softest alarms we have so far, and all but one bathroom has a Horn Strobe.
Oh yes, Exit signs do flash when the fire alarm goes off. It not only happens in schools, It happens in Museums, Libraries, Airports, Shopping Malls, Movie Theatres, Hotels, and so on...
@Ghost pEpPeR Sus Of course. Those are fire-rated doors, designed to help compartmentalize the building in order to give building occupants more time to evacuate.
It always annoys me when they do this. My college campus has many manual door stops and wedges on doors that are obviously fire rated and need to remain shut unless they install automatically disengaging door holders like those magnets. The magnet type is probably what the building in the video had.
That is funny. There is an exit sign that flashes because it is an automatic door and they were testing the Fire alarms, strobe lights and the automatic doors.
Music to my ears. That's what I think of this video. No...I'm kidding. Lol.. In my high school we don't have those automatic closing doors. That's pretty cool right there..
+NJMoo3652 Well, the panel is coded to continuous, and the alarms are individually set to code 3 with their built in settings, hence why the alarms won't sync. Most likely a flasher is installed on each exit sign when triggered by the relay.
That’s cool when the fire alarms go on then the exit signs bikinis in whole school building when the fire alarms go on that cool and LOUD WHECLOCK Fire alarm !!
That is a fire door. It works by magnetizing the holder. When the alarm goes off, it'll demagnetize and have the door close. Since it didn't, it should be marked as a failure by the inspector.
+Nazeo Aelko Nezen Acually your incorrect, all doors, for them to close, must a have a door closer (if you don't know what they look like you can look it up) but it's not the fire alarm system's fault most likely it's the door closer. I've seen many things on the internet where door closers fail to closer the door when the magnet releases it.
+Nazeo Aelko Nezen Oh and also if you thought I meant there was not magnet but just a door stop I didn't mean that. I meant the door was connected to the door and a door stop under the door, so when the magnet releases, the door stop still holds the door and the door closer can't close it
Hey. This was one of my first fire alarm video's that i came across on youtube. And if you do know what kind of alarm system installed in that building.
In my school all, when the fire fire alarm goes off all the lift´s return to the ground floors and the doors open, the automated windows open, the automated doors to the main stairwell close,we have emergency stairs and exit´s don´t worry xD and the gas shuts off on all the kitchens, pretty cool actually.
@@lscn12 arent they required to have at least yearly, if not six monthly, drills to stay within fire code regulations?
