Looking forward to comparing it to the Deepal S07, and also seeing this MG ES5 and the new Geely. Not an easy decision, but I can handle this kind of problem. ;-)

The whole point of EV is to save money from fuel. If the price of the car is 65k, 75k, 85k. I do not know how this budgeting really works. Mg on the other hand as you said is doing well pricing their cars cheaper than ICE cars. So you actually can save money before and after.

From Scotland I own a MG4 and it is brilliant. The real world range is 230 miles. The auto pilot is really good - with the upcoming solid state battery in a new car the mileage is supposed to be over 400 miles.

Live in Scotland too, to be fair real world 200 miles in our winters is decent. People were getting 70 miles in the last gen not the new gem MINI’s and that’s just a waste of time for me as I do road trips. My tipping point and I have aid this since about 2016 is 300 mile real world and cars are passing that easy today but the cheaper models are catching up.

Both battery sizes are LFP batteries. Great for durability and safety, and cheaper too. Definitely a direct competitor to BYD Atto 3.
Also, some sources are quoting boot space as 461L and some as 380L. 380 seems very unlikely since the current MG ZS EV has 470L, and the new MG ES5 is bigger.

In the Netherlands there is a new Chinese EV for sale at the Mercedes dealer network. In 2nd week Novermber on the street. The Nammi Box, from DongFeng.
Length 4010, 310km range with the LFP battery, adas 2 tech, 360 degrees camera and nice exterior and interior, for €23.700 for the highest specs.
Still €6.000 cheaper than the Citroën Ë-C3 MAX €29.600 version, . . that has less specs.

Inside the USA we have been undergoing a virtual arms race since the 80’s building larger and larger cars. It is the case now that the ridiculous size of vehicles has meant sedan sales are approaching terminal condition meanwhile SUVs and huge pickups have taken over the market. These huge massive trucks that are sometimes almost Semi-truck sized are usually taking one person to work and to the grocery store. Just one person. It’s totally ridiculous. These small vehicles would make sense if they didn’t have to worry about being squashed in our current vehicle arms race. Where will this lead? Ever increasing sized trucks? It seems unsustainable to me.

Back in the late 1990s we were looking for a new (second hand, but new to us) car. I had no clue and my boss recommended Reynault, because it’s state owned and you get more metal for your money, they don’t care about shareholders/profit etc.. i compared the Laguna to the Mondeo and Cavalier and he was right. I bought an MG4 nearly 2 years ago, and the same seems true. When I bought it the nearest comparison was the VW ID3 and financially there was no comparison. What does China get, a bigger skilled work pool, a larger industrial base and projection of soft power. Just like back in the day, the US sold us Ford cars and Levi’s jeans, and coke and we thought they were cool. I ended up buying French cars and going on holiday to France.

Why are you using American dollars when no vehicle is even being sold in the US? No salesman, no dealerships, no parts supply warehouse, stick to Australian dollars and euros. And yes, there is video of a BC hydro charging station being powered by a natural gas line, connected to a gas generator in north BC.
There will be many of these soon to come as no solar or wind factories can generate enough to power them. And there is also video footage of a cargo transport truck carrying EVs and all of the EVs are on fire.

It is hard to believe in 14000 USD price in China... without them subsidizing it hugely. If China can make good stuff so cheap, why other things of simar quality to Europe/USA are not 2,5 times cheaper there (like phones or drones etc), but only crap is that cheap?

Sound interesting. And Elon has cancelled the Model 2, saying it doesn't make any sense, even though it was on the original roadmap while things like the Cybertruck and the Robotaxi weren't. Go figure. I guess he thinks us plebs will have to make do with a crappy Robotaxi experience, rather than own a car like him?
Of course, once again, he's dead wrong. Most of us want the convenience of our own car, you know that same experience that we have now. Anything less is a backward step, and I for one won't be doing that. If he's concerned that Tesla launching an "affordable car" will destroy the sales of the current expensive ones. That may be true to some extent. However, regardless of what he decides, the other manufacturers will do it anyway, and he'll pay the price.
It's such a shame that he's lost his way. Tesla used to be such a great company, creating products that people wanted. Now it just seems like his plaything to try to force a future on people who want no part of it.

Worth bearing in mind the whole auto industry has come to a similar conclusion - all aiming for that juicy lucrative high ground. Mercedes has come a cropper with this strategy, as has Porsche (plus all their recalls have not helped). BMW's cheapest nastiest 1 series front wheel drive petrol with no options (and here in the UK seems to only have auto - no more manual gearbox) will set you back no less than just over £31k! Not exactly affordable. Then picking the one series to be around the same spec as the bigger Tesla Model 3 and you are north of £46k. To be fair in this spec the Beemer has got AWD but you are forking out over six grand for the privilege. Yes, Tesla might be pricey but don't be under the misapprehension all the other manufacturers have not got the same idea.

Don't tell me - you read a review of the Chinese fish and it passed. Sure - was this a randomly selected fish or did the Chinses fish provider give you a hand picked fish to check? Search BYD quality, or CHinese EV quality; see for yourself. Things that never should get to a customer are - clued on panels that falll off; crazy self driving; airbags that don't deploy in real accidents; fires..BYD has had 10 dealships n China burn to the ground; you can even find video of the cars on fire on the carrier on the way to the dealer - they dodn't even get there. China isn't a good choice long term or short.

Sorry Americans.! Truthfully, they miss out because Americans are programmed not to like smaller vehicles. It's a ridiculous attitude, but even manufacturers who would make smaller vehicles don't take them to the USA. Not everyone wants to take the whole family across the entire continent, every day, in a monster truck. So instead they have monster SUVs. 🤭
