  • The traditional Fuzz Face circuits can be notoriously finicky, which is why Analog.Man crafted the Sun Face. Featuring germanium BC109 for that old-school Hendrix or Clapton sound, it’s easy to dial in creamy, singing overdrive using the classic Volume and Fuzz knobs, and with an internal Clean trim pot, you can tame your fuzz to subtler levels. Great-sounding Fuzz Face tones are just a pedal away with the Analog.Man Sun Face.

    "Featuring BC109" as he shows a BC183 and both of them are silicon anyhow. *thumbs up*

    Germanium BC109? Eh...wrong on both counts. Sounds good though.

    Germanium BC-109? I knew of a silicon BC-109. Analogman knows how to make a great sounding fuzz.

      That's because there's only a silicon BC109 lol. And Hendrix used an NKT275 germanium fuzz face for most of his earliest and most popular stuff. It wasn't until around Band of Gypsys that he started using BC108c fuzz faces. Either way, this video shows a BC183 pedal

    Silicon not germanium

  • @benskurbe
    @benskurbe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    Wow that caption “germanium BC109 for that old school Hendrix or Clapton sound” that’s comedically false. 1) BC109 is silicon 2) Hendrix used germanium at first but most likely used BC108C for most of his discography 3) Clapton didn’t use fuzz 4) if you wanted a real user of BC109 fuzzfaces you could have mentioned Gilmour, but then again 5) the pedal you used was BC183... all of this may seem trivial but you’re Reverb, do better.

      You’re are definitely right about all of that. But, I could be mistaken, but I’m pretty sure Clapton did use fuzz while in Cream and afterwards. Not when in the Bluesbreakers but if you listen to the tones on the Cream albums and especially the live albums and videos I don’t think he could of achieved that tone with just a cranked Marshall. Some of the tones sound very fuzzy. Like Stangebrew and Sunshine. Unless that’s just the sound of his tone rolled way back and the amp cranked.

    Great demo.
    I know nothing about fuzz petals, but I’ve been told analogman is the best. I need it to cover Hendrix and. Gilmour.
    Do you think this pedal can do both?

    I don't see the point of the clean trim knob... a good fuzz pedal can always be made cleaner with a guitar's volume knob. you have it on your finger tips!

    • @srisitt
      @srisitt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you don't really need it on the silicon sunfaces. It was initially for compensating for temperature changes in the germanium sunfaces to counter interference and noise. The silicon aren't as finicky. The sunface has an internal trim pot that serves the same function as the sundial.

    • @jaygreer7430
      @jaygreer7430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The guys from That Pedal Show disagree. Mick owns a BC183, and he likes the internal clean trim pot adjustment. If you’re interested and haven’t seen it, check out the episode they did from Analogman’s HQ with Analog Mike where they compared four Sunface pedals and played around with various settings and adjustments.
