Also, Most Capitalists are adopting new technology and making it work for them. But how's that working out for rest of us.
Half Baked Knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge and New Technology is mostly Half Baked Knowledge. So, we should reduce emphasis of Technology and look every new scientific discovery critically.

This video shows the fact of digital technology recently. As mentioned in the video , digital technology helps us do many things, it is not only interaction, but also helps people create the business. “ Adam Smith said the factors of doing business will consist of 3 factors: land, labor, and capital. Right now, it is easy to do business’’. All these I agree with them because as you know at present we are an online platform for doing many things like shopping, financial transactions, and so on. Another one is ‘technologies are as powerful as drugs’, It is absolutely a fact of life. For my experience, I use social media to help me interact with others and exchange information. That is a good drug, but when I overtake it, it is not good for my health as I spend a lot of time on them, checking everything almost all the time.

As a software dev, i am convinced the general direction of our future technology is clearly dystopian - this has mostly to do with unconscious consumers, who buy dumb products, politicians who dont understand what the tech does, and corporate capitalism always finding a way to build any nonsense and use it. The question is WHAT are we researching? In all fields there are countless directions we COULD TAKE, yet our leaders, both economic and political, are unable to understand what that technology means, HOW it should be used, what it can NOT DO, etc. In other words, we have silly people playing with more and more complex tech as we unravel the mysteries of nature, physics and especially neurology and genetics,.. Creating toys for fools to play. We still have no real ethics committee on neurology, cybernetics and software in general.
The current aging leaders simply cant grasp the reason WHY that would be needed, mostly because they dont understand the tech. And to be fair, most of the younger generation neither. They just want that silly phone - nowadays they come without keyboards and buttons, because these lards think its cool that you can touch the image.. Such a disappointment. Not 1 cellphone with a complete array of sensors - so many OTHER ideas how a cellphone could work. But i guess people are too lame for that.
To a degree it would be better development slowed down, until those top brass from the cold war finally died off. As long as they are around, especially the american gov, i hope we make NO MAJOR BREAK THROUGH in math, physics and neurology. These people are not fit to decide for themselves, yet they act as if they are competent persons, when we all know, the current system has been rendered anti-democratic, plutocratic and pathocratic by the very technology we build. Technology and nature doesnt have to be at opposite ends - its just that belly-people like CEO`s are not fit to decide over important decisions in this regard. The belly is there to FEED THE WHOLE BODY, the belly is not the brain, nor the heart. Chinese, western and russian governments alike are fit for the garbage bin! They lack the competences to decide one further jota of any persons live, what to speak of in which direction our society should go.
I laugh at these donkeys and monkeys in suits, because they think their body to be the self, the world generated in their head to be real, and shamelessly plunder the earth, like jackals..

The way societies operate will change as a result of technology, like in the past, except this time, the changes will be even more drastic, because of things like rejuvenation biotechnology, automation, artificial intelligence, molecular nanotechnology, etc. so it's misguided to think progress (which is being made faster than ever and continues improving according to the evidence) will stop because of how pathetic a soon-to-be obsolete social system is.

This is such a great video!! I agree with the statement “ we have a whole lot of digital companies that are not creating tools or platforms to help people live their lives. They are just creating tools and platforms that just help corporations extract value from people either in terms of their time, data or even their consciences their choices making “. It’s make me realize to my experience that relevant to what he said. I think my data was accessed by some platforms. I used some platforms chatting with my mom because it’s so convenient and not complicated for my old mom using 😂. I texted my mom that I wanted to buy a new guitar string. The next day , Ads for the brand of guitar strings I wanted were popping up in my feed. I was surprised that the ad was showing up just when I wanted to buy a guitar string. Also, it's the brand I texted my mom that I wanted to buy . I think the platform I'm chatting has adopted the usage of my chat data to offer advertisements.

Thank you for sharing the idea. I agreed when the speaker said there's not any particularly healthy or unhealthy technology as long as we have real-life experiences and sustenance for you to be able to engage in online experiences in a healthy way. It means that the technologies overview are not only unhealthy parts but there are many parts of healthy if we use them in valuable and correct ways. Using Facebook or Twitter, for example, if we use it in the wrong ways, such as to compare ourselves with others' life or cannot manage the time using it, eventually we become addicted to it. But if we use it to follow news and manage ourselves, not waste our time on it, these platforms will become very useful. So, we all know how to use the technology in what ways; it depends on us.

I don't think it's an "or" question. I think technology always comes with upsides and downsides. Industrialization was a great boon to humanity. It brought people out of abject poverty and into better paying jobs that offered more opportunity and less uncertainty. However, it came with potential disastrous effects. In Bhopal, India, a gas leak killed thousands and affected many more. This was an outcome of technology just as the employment and betterment of people's lives was an outcome of technology. The pollution of Minamata, the mismanagement of Flint and the disaster at Chernobyl were also outcomes of technology. The answer is that technology must not be looked at either as a boon or the downfall of humanity, but potentially as leading to both. It will drive many out of employment while presenting opportunities for others. It will save lives and also ruin and extinguish them. To believe in either the gospel that technology is always an improvement or to become a complete Luddite hermit is to misunderstand the impact of technology on modern human civilization.

First of all, this podcast is wonderful, and thank you for sharing ideas and superb information about the technology of both of you. Personally, I quite agree with Mr. Rushkoff's point that the "Internet is as powerful as a psychedelic" and "technologies are as powerful as drugs." Because the two sentences show that nowadays, technologies have influenced our daily lives. In terms of communication, education, and entertainment, for example, many people get entertained on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, or other platforms. I am one of those who use these applications to entertain myself. On the other hand, if people use technologies in a positive way, like the way healthcare advances, as the host says, "If you are on Facebook or Instagram, the same with you are on marijuana." In my opinion, if you say "Technologies are as powerful as drugs," it can have a positive side, such as the medical use of marijuana for pain relief, similar to future technologies that can also be utopian or dystopian.

This video is full of good information. I literally agree with the point the guest speaker said “we end up with technologies that are as powerful as drugs, but we don't recognize that they're that powerful.” Why I agree that because nowadays I see that technology has become indispensable. It was created to facilitate people and has evolved over time to the point that people become dependent on it like a drug addict. An obvious tool is smartphones. Most people use smartphones most of the time, including me. I use my phone for social media. I have to carry it everywhere and use it when I'm free. Sometimes I spend 4-6 hours a day on TikTok or even more. I used it without realizing its power and how much did it affect me.

Thanks for sharing this excellent video. I agree with your point that social media or the usage of modern technology can cause people to lose their ability for eye contact and interpersonal interaction because I personally see it happening to those near to me. It used to be the start of the elementary school year for the sister of one of my friends. After some time had gone, it turned out that my friend's sister has never had a friend. One of the reasons why my friend's sister is like this is that she has lost the ability to make eye contact or get to know other people because she has been on the phone nonstop since she was a kid, not even speaking to her sister. Realizing that everything will soon be almost completely online, I strongly believe that some people may lose these skills in the future.

  • @ศุภศุตาสายทะวงษ์

This is a good video! Thank you for sharing this video. The first point that I agree with the guest there are 2 points about the using technology since we have technology coming into the world. We start engaging with people in life, and then we start interacting with others. Examples of technology influencing me are phones. It's indispensable in my life when I have to talk to someone, call someone, or use it to communicate through this tool. Sometimes I can talk to each other in person, but I choose to chat with other people makes us reduce eye contact with other people quite a lot.
Another thing that I agree with him is using digital technology almost always is a compromise. When we use technology, we compromise the conversation with the interlocutor is reaching out to the interlocutor more. So when I talk to new friends through social media. This is important in my approach to others. Finally, we will find the benefits of that technology depending on our use.

Thanks for the great information in the video. I agree with the guest that he mentioned digital technologies are useful and they allow us to do anything. And I think the technologies that we use nowadays can be both utopian and dystopian. Like the guest said “Technologies that are as powerful as drugs, but we do not recognize that they are powerful.” For me, it can mean technologies are magic potions that help us do new things and gain new experiences while using too much can be harmful. Like if we want to know something we can use digital tools to help us to search for the information or if we want to go somewhere but we do not know the location we just use digital tools to search for that place. On the other hand, if we use it too much, it will hurt us. For example, in the past, I was very addicted to gaming at night with friends online and as a result it spoiled my health. It makes me sleepless at night, going to bed during the day and waking up to play games at night. It is the loop that makes me the one who can not allocate time. And when I got bored of being in this loop, therefore, it made me realize that digital tools are like medicine with health benefits and they can also be narcotics without our knowledge.

  • @พัชรินทร์สิงห์บุบผา

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter. I am currently studying this subject and I am quite convinced that future technology will make the world a better place because it can help human beings in many ways. Both work and medical treatment. But your comments made me look at technology in a new light and quite agree with your statements that it will take away human jobs. Technology is great, but like you have said in the video, it depends on the money whether we have enough of it to use those new technologies or not. From the advancement of technology, it turns out that there is also a trade involved. This is a confirmation that technology will definitely lead to inequality in life in the future. I really like the statement where you said that we are so addicted to it that we don't realize how powerful is it. Now that I have a clear visual on both aspects of technology, this will help me improve a lot on my critical thinking skill.

  • @ศิริลักษณ์หันแถลง

This video gives me great knowledge! After I watched this video, I agree with the guest who said that the Internet has the power to change people's minds. As an experience, I've seen on social media. I'm a big fan of K-pop and the issue that I have seen is a young girl artist who has just debuted. She has been accused of hurting her classmates and committing many unacceptable bad behaviors. After this news was released, netizens hated and cursed her a lot, until finally she left the group and left the company. Shortly after, she wrote a letter denying all the allegations she was accused of, so some netizens felt pity and sympathy for her. This event makes me feel that anything that has already been posted on the internet, many people will comment on anything that they think and don't judge whether it is real or fake news, so this can may injure the accused. However, I also agree with what he said about technologies that are as powerful as drug which is very related to my daily life such as I have to use social media all the time whether I wake up, go to the bathroom, in the classroom or even before going to bed. And I can say that I can't live without it.

I really appreciate the topics you share with your audience. This video gave me a lot of information about utopia and dystopia technology. I totally agree that technology, like drug addiction, has immense power. For example, I wasted a lot of time doing other things because I was spending so much time on the Tik Tok app, which seems to attract me every time I choose to access it. On the other hand, I don't agree that what we do through digital technology replaces what we do in life. For example, I surf the internet to see a nice cafe in my city, but it doesn't feel like we actually go to that cafe. Surfing the internet is just a medium to open up our vision before we actually get to that place. In summary, technology has both advantages and disadvantages. It is up to us whether we choose to be addicted to it or not.

I agree with the guest saying that “we try to live our lives at the same scale as a corporation or a kadashian”. Almost everything in our lives is in the social media world. We can easily show off our achievements, abilities, or beauty, and we can show off the best scene of our lives. Others see those perfect media and they are crazy with it and want to be like that and have that lifestyle. I think social media is like a double edged sword. On the bad side, it's like a devil. And I learned one more thing when the guest were talking about fresh graduate or university dropout creating apps for a lot of money. I used to think that way back then. Making millions on my own makes me cool, smart and powerful, but now I think money is necessary but not everything. In the future, if I could,I would create something more meaningful to society than build a company for big money. Moreover, if I have enough ability, I'm happy to share my knowledge to younger generation.

I love this video! I agree with the speaker that digital technology such as social media, help us to do many things on online community as the real life. It’s true that it makes people to lose the ability to make eye contact and establish rapport and breathed with other people. Most people always spend time on their screen to talk with friends or do something alone. It can be possible that people will have less interaction on real life than last time. For this point, it makes me think about my self. When I use my mobile phone, I will not care about any thing around me. Although, I live with friends, I still pay attention on the screen only. I rarely talk to friends in front of me. So, digital technology can affect the relationship between people in bad way. Thank you so much for a good content.💓

First, technology is evolving rapidly, it has helped create online media for people around the world to communicate with each other such as they are talking through Skype, but it will make fewer people's relationships and more distance. For example, my friend and I went out to have something to eat. We should have talked and exchanged ideas, but she brought up her phone and played without caring about her surroundings. The second point is that technology is as powerful as drugs. Once used, it will be difficult to stop playing until getting into a habit. People use social media all the time and every action is shared on it. For example, when I start watching a video clip on TikTok, I can’t stop because there is constantly changing content that makes it interesting. It will make me addicted and waste time uselessly.

Thank you for sharing this useful video. It really gave me more information and new perspectives. I totally agree with the point that technology is as powerful as drugs. It is undeniable that nowadays technology is necessary for human beings in every aspect and how technology can affect us depends on our usage as well. I personally use it in my studies to research information, communication with others including the use of social platforms to follow the news that happens in society. I benefit from this part of the technology because I use it to help me learn more of many things. But at the same time, it also made me so addicted to using my phone that I sometimes couldn’t focus on my surroundings or cause me not to concentrate enough when doing other things. So, it's important to limit the use of technology appropriately so that it doesn't end up doing more harm than good to us.

Thank you for your experience. And I agree with what you mentioned. And it's the right thing because nowadays We can access digital technology in many different ways. And what I learned is something new. Everything that is digital technology brings direct and indirect monopolies. For example, accessing Facebook or finding a map all have access conditions. If you don't want advertisements coming through while you play music, you need a TH-cam Premium subscription. Yes, it's just like the technology you've always dreamed of, and now it's a reality. But I have to admit that the current digital technology is like a very powerful acid. For example, if you are raising children at the age of 3-4 with mobile phones or technology that helps divert their attention from you, You have to accept the consequences. Children can become artificially autistic, which many parents are unaware of and sometimes think has nothing to do with technology. Too much digital means you can lose your identity, for example, or even your interactions with those around you. Maybe digital technology looks like Utopianism, but if you don't use it properly, it can turn into Dystopianism.

This video is very good. I agree with what he said that technology has many advantages so we should push science technology as much as possible. Technology has made life easier for us, such as learning, daily life. It helps us to live easier in online society like real life. Paying using an app instead of carrying cash. It has a huge influence on our lives. On the other hand, it makes us addicted to the media too much. We spend so much time on technology that we forget to communicate with those around us or the ability to make eye contact and build relationships with others because we use technology to communicate instead. I spend too much time on my phone. until sometimes I forget to eat. Therefore, technology is like a drug. This video is very informative and the advantages are almost Utopian and Dystopian. Thanks for the great information.

  • @อังคราภรณ์พนารินทร์

This is an interesting video and thank you for sharing the great information. In this video there is one point that I agree with the guest saying that “we end up with technologies that are as powder full as drugs, but we don’t recognize that they’re that powerful. Nowadays, the Internet or AI was created to facilitate people and has been developed to be able to play a role in human life. An obvious example today is smartphones, which are digital tools that can make our lives easier and more comfortable. For example using Facebook or Messenger applications to communicate with others even from a distance or live in different countries communicate with each other by sending messages also video face to face as well . But at the same time, if we use it improperly, it can cause serious consequences. Children nowadays use their phones more and more in terms of playing games which may have a negative effect on the child either it’s visual or it can cause hyperactivity. Because they spend a lot of time staring at the screen. In other words, children are addicted to games. It is for these reasons that technology has a lot of influence and power today. However, how it affects us depends on how we use it, so we should all be aware of how to make good use of it and not inflict harm on oneself.

This is an excellent podcast and thank you for sharing it. I quite agree with your point that we need to push technology in science as much as possible because it is inherently good. That is showing us how powerful technology in the future is as utopian technology. And one other point, I firmly believe that “ technologies are as powerful as drugs” . I can hardly deny that technology connects everything together such as entertainment and creates learning materials that can improve learning skills. One point that “as powerful as drugs” reminds me of myself. My experience, I tend to do everything that is necessary after spending time on social media like TikTok or Instagram. It is a behavior that has a huge negative impact on my learning skills. Surely, I should change my behavior to look at the disadvantages of technology when it is misused or overused and make the most of it for the future.

Thanks for sharing good information. I learned a lot of important points in this talk. I strongly agree with the point that "technologies are as powerful as drugs" With technology that connects things to one point, creating both knowledge, entertainment and much more. I'm one of those social media addicts. Almost every hour, I have to check Facebook, Instagram or watch TH-cam. When my phone is out of battery, it takes 1 hour to charge. I feel 1 hour is too long waiting for my phone to fully charge. Throughout the time that my phone is charging, I always look at it to see how many percent of the battery it has. It seemed like very bad behavior, but now I'm not like this anymore. It takes a lot of time to adapt to get out of this behavior. However, how technology affects us depends on the way we use it. Therefore, we should all be aware of how to use it to our advantage and how to use our own technology so as not to destroy our time and health.

Thank you for sharing the idea. I concur that technology is changing quickly and has allowed people worldwide to connect online, like using Facebook and Instagram. This might result in fewer close relationships and more emotional distance. Another point is that technology can be as addictive as drugs. Once people start using it, it's hard to stop, just like forming a habit. People spend a lot of time on social media and share everything they do. We often use social media to communicate with people nearby instead of having direct conversations. Technology is an integral part of our lives, reflecting how we conduct real-life activities through digital means.
The question I would like to ask the guest speaker. What do you think if people use technology to talk with friends but they sit there together. My experience is relevant to talking with friends. I sat next to my friends in Special Topic class but I used Facebook to talk with them.

This is interesting video. I agree with the guess about the power of technology. He said that Technology is as powerful as drugs but we don’t recognize that they are powerful. For me It is clearly understood that technology is a meaningful way in our society to connect people together. It is not only to create work to get huge amounts of money but also we can access much information in our world to improve our skills. Applying technology to our lives can be a meaningful way to do technology. Before we think that technology violates our lives, we should try to apply it first. We might change that idea and it might make your life easier and better. Because technology can substitute some action in your daily life.

Thank you for sharing a good video for me. This video is very useful. I agree with the speaker that almost anything that you do through digital technology is a substitute for something that you could be doing in real life. Nowadays, we can see that technology is influences our living, and it's a tool that facilitates life. We can use a bank application to pay instead of carrying cash or order food through the food delivery application instead of going to a restaurant. We tend to communicate with people around us through social media instead of talking face-to-face. In our life, technology is often involved in inevitably. It shows that we do everything in our real life through digital technology.

Thank you for sharing a good video for me. This video gives me a lot of information about utopian and dystopian technology in the future. I agree with the point that technology is as powerful as drugs without us even knowing it. I admit that I'm addicted to smart phones because I think they are a part of my body already. It helps with studying, entertainment, and communicating with others because today's technology is very necessary for my life. But if used in the wrong way, it will hurt me as well. I'm addicted to TikTok on my phone, so I don't have time to do my homework, which has a negative impact on my studies. So I changed myself by removing this application and allocating more time to playing on the phone. As a result, I had more time to do my assignments and it didn't affect my studies at all. In summary, technology has advantages and disadvantages; it depends on how we use it.

Thank you for sharing a good video. I have learned many great points in this interview. I totally agree with the point that the technology is as powerful as drugs without us even knowing it. I am the one who is addicted to social media like Instagram or Facebook. I have to use it everyday. When I wake up every morning, I have to go to Instagram or Facebook first. It is just like the normal thing that I have to do in my daily life. Unfortunately, it really affects my concentration on learning. Once I read a book, I had to pick up my phone and swiped those apps many times without any reason. So, I tried to turn off my phone and left it with my friends but what I got was anxiety. I felt like I was missing something in my life and I still couldn’t read that book. Anyway, it is true that the way technology affects us depends on the way we use it. Therefore, we all should realize how to use it to bring us benefits instead of destroying us.

I agree with you that technology is useful and makes things easier. both talking and interacting with different people and teaching But this also brings negative consequences for us, for example, we may become so addicted to technology that we do not care about our surroundings at all. in my everyday life at home Families are not very interested in each other, only interested in technology in their own hands, when eating, playing media, without any discussions with each other.

  • @หัสดินเกตุศักดิ์

Thank you for sharing the idea. I understand your point that technology is useful and it makes our lives easier. This point shows that it has the power to control us too. Somehow, it also harms us in many ways, such as communication, life, and attention. I agree that it helps us in many ways, but it also in many ways too. We may think that these tools make our lives more interesting and provide a lot of media for us. However, it grabs our attention and they do not know the limit of its use. We are the ones who can design how to stop it, but mostly we put our attention on it every time, such as using Facebook, any video, or mass media. This makes me think that I am the one who mostly spends my time on my smartphone. The answer is yes. I mostly do anything via online technology, such as banking, learning, relaxing. They put many things in it, and I have to use it. So, there is no limit, and I believe that there are many things we can do outside of technology that will help us be more positive without relying on online platforms all of the time. Take some time to be with yourself rather than spending your good time on technology.

The argument that speakers are talking about makes me wonder how our society is gonna be in the future if we have technology at its center. My imaginary of the technological society will become a dystopian society like companies that make technology tools, which focus on profit first as the guest said. So, the access to those technologies can be accessed by the middle or higher class. This can create social inequalities, as the working class has no access to technology and will be left behind. This reminds me of the movie "The Hunger Games," where only higher class who live in the capital can use any technology to live their lives. I think if our society is gonna be like that, it is so unfair.

  • @thanar5a772
    @thanar5a772 ปีที่แล้ว

I get the point that technology is developed or made to make our lives better or perfect, and it is totally planned to be like that. So, we use technology without considering the effects of it, but only think about how to make our lives better by using it. However, technology is also imagined as an inequality world for someone, which means that some people may not be able to access the technology. It is what we do not expect it to happen, but it really happens. Technology is helpful and makes our lives better, but not for everyone. So, I really wonder how our world or society is going to be in the future? Is everyone going to be able to access the technology or not?

"[Almost] anything that you do through digital technology is a substitute for something you could be doing in real life" and the point my man makes about digital tech and the internet being "Capitalism on steroids" are really the crux[es] underpinning the pitfalls Humanity faces as it navigates our increasingly more digitally mediated world...our predatory Capitalist system has never been people-centered, and you need to look no further than the coopting of "social" media by venture capitalists...something designed to essentially get nerdy college guys laid on Friday nights has turned into a multi-billion dollar industry which exists to extrat data from users in an effort to increase profits...once money comes into the picture, it's class warfare...I do appreciate his POV regarding the emergence of collectives to guard the "land" so to speak, but they have their work cut out for them.

It's hard to know what effect technology is having on society because it is happening so fast now and the effects are varied. A leap in AI, possibly occurring in only a few weeks at some point 20 to 70 years in the future, could change things profoundly. I feel more free as a human now than when I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, curious about everything and wanting to know things, but trapped by a school system and the ignorance, limitations, fears and preoccupations of the adults around me. Libraries were okay then, but the Internet would have been liberating, and since I've used it since 1992, I love it more than ever now that I'm retired. I don't use F Book. Looming in my mind, however, is the idea that the Internet was partly responsible for getting an insane clown like Trump elected. But there's just not any time machine to go back to staring in each other's eyes and bartering dead animals for potatoes. Maybe academics should think up an app for that.
