I’ve been carrying my Tanto Magnacut Livewire for a few weeks now. Before I carried a spartan Ultratech, the microtech is heavier which leads to the thought its better but despite how light the Livewire is its very sturdy and overall for $190 on sale it is a gem!
I carry and use all my high-end knives That's what they were made for to be used. Just because they're more expensive I'm not going to baby them I have many knives over $500 that I carry almost daily
Man, I miss my OTF knives! I had 3 microtechs and all 3 where stolen by someone i called a friend! Never let me down from an EDC 8n civilian life to having them with me on duty in the army! Amazing
Especially since I've had such "hit or miss" qc and awful customer service experiences with benchmade and microtech, yet, for me, whenever I've had a issue with a tacknives, they've been really good about fixing and or replacing.
I'm happy with the cheapo lightning knives from bladeHQ. I remember they used to sell for like...$25 or something else super cheap. They're a little heavy but easy to spam open/close.
Are you also allowed to carry gravity knives in PA? I go to northeastern PA probably about six times a year either going to the Poconos or bushkill falls and I would love to carry some of my knives that I'm not allowed to carry here in NJ
Yes. Low end blades are notorious for it (my old AC-86 otf from the 1980s sounds like twangy guitar), but I've had very expensive ones do the same thing. A bit of grease on the spring, or even a thick oil like MPro-7, will usually stop things. I've also done the trick of cutting a thin rubber band and running the strip of rubber inside the mainspring itself.
@@sprinkleddonuts6094 Of course it's a coil; why would that mean it does nothing? By running a strip of rubber _inside_ the coil, it creates increased mass for the spring, stops it moving around laterally, and provides a soft buffer for the rings of the coil to move against. All those factors mitigate the twanginess vs just having a bare spring.
I pack the spring area with plain chapstick. Keeps it smooth and keeps debris from moving around inside. Stops twang. And the best part is you can place it under the button to hold the string in place while reassembling
I don't get all the microtech hate. Never had a bad microtech and they completely redesigned their knives inside and out and didn't even charge more. Tough times financially I guess.
I have several CobraTec models from high-end to their mid-line and like them too. In fact, I like my CobraTec Enforcer in M390 better than my MicroTech knives!
if you can get a maxace neptune it's soooo good for like 128 shipped. which is why it took me a week to actually order one because their site was gettiing hammmmmmmered.
Those look so easy to actuate ! I have the microtech combat troodon in merlot color with a bronze hellhound blade and hardware it’s beautiful but after opening and closing it a few times my thumb is dead I gotta check one of those out thanks for the video
I went out and got the Kershaw Livewire in magnacut, which I enjoy for the sound.
very nice Its on my want list :)
very underrated knife... got one for 180 and it's very stout for the money.
enjoying mine also 🍻

Decent knives for sure. It's a crime what Microtech and Benchmade charge.

True but these are offs so idk why benchmade got brought up? How many offs do they make?
@@jaredappleseed7037a few and they are expensive

I heard if you buy a Bitchmade and you send it in for warranty or free sharpening, you must prove your a 1st responder or they keep it.

Rebranded Chinese mid high quality 😂🎉😂❤❤❤
yes because in house USA made autos arent cheap thats the point...
I put a little bit of synthetic grease on the springs to stop the twang sound

sadly illegal in my country
reason: cause they are scary and misunderstood just like balisongs wich sucks for me

Some of them on the website are pretty tacky, 20, 30 dollars
Most I spent for a otf was 80$ and it was solid and heavy not a benchmade but works good
I just got a Maxace Neptune recently. $108, Fires like a freight train!
Lighning OTF for $28 beats some of the big brands in springyness and does not suck
The coupon code does not work... Just FYI.
Ticky tac tac knives for all your Ricky ticky tac tac needs.
