Thanks for this video, I changed my Ranger to this setup, full beserker, and managed to get Rock Gazelle and visited Vabbi for hero and some masteries. It’s made life better, now to farm gold for runes and sigils, and learn to get the combo’s right.

I had to return to leave my comment here. Had so much fun re-spec'ing my Ranger to this build and it absolutely works for me. Prior to this, I thought Rangers were very boring, but you managed to highlight how much fun it can really be.
Runes such as Rage and Pack that bring in their own additional Fury compliment this build very nicely.
Think I will follow your advice for the Deadeye as well :)

I've actually been seeing a few people playing with this while doing meta events. Ranger was my first class and still my main to this day. I love seeing more people playing the class. FeelsGoodMan
I've been longbowing with the lesser call of the wild to keep fury up. Looks like i've been doing it wrong for awhile. Very nice.
I was playing a bit with this build, and it was quite fun on PoF maps, so thanks a lot for the tips! However on some HoT maps I had to change back to the condi soulbeast.
Can believe missed this. I see I still have a LOT to learn. I like the bow and the sword, thought i do wish my ranger could dual wield 2 swords, lol..
Huge thank you for this build WP as I almost main ranger often for fractals and raids as druid so this will help do open world and story stuff much easier in solo play.
Can I ask you what build you usually use in Fractals?
This build is extremely similar to raid builds for soulbeast, with a couple trait differences. Greatsword is incredibly useful to the build for cleave, a 3 second block, great cc, and endurance recovery. Camping axes will certainly work, but switching between axe/axe and gs really makes the build more engaging and adaptable to your current scenario.
Looking forward to this build especially with the amount of movement you get from it.
Gear setup - All Zojja / Berserker including trinkets. Superior Rune of the Pack for armor. Weapons all Zojja / Berserker or you can do assassins on Axes and or Greatsword - it works just fine. Superior Sigil of Force & Superior Sigil of Accuracy on Weapons - Enjoy!
You CAN add Marauder stats if you want a bit more health. I went all zerker myself and no issues so far.

I love shortbow too. My first character was a ranger and I leveled up completely using a combo of shortbow/greatsword. So many evades!
That ax auto attack on an asura reminds me of the Hammer Bros from Super Mario. Gonna have to roll a new asura Ranger now, thanks WP.
Great info. Sadly the new range skills do not allow to change the pets during combat for soulbeast: Soulbeasts, long standing without a tradeoff, are now receiving theirs-they lose combat access to a second pet and must choose carefully which pet they're going to be bonded with in battle. We're also enhancing several core ranger traits and some select weapon skills that we felt were on the weak side.
What I also can recommend is diviner boonbeast. With NM, WS and soulbeast. With 33% boon duration. Stance share (mainly for longer stances) and looooot of boon stacking. It's really comfy to do oPvE and has great burst and sustain.
I've been running core forever. LB / Axe Axe. I didn't like druid, and I didn't like the sound of Soulbeast. Your explanation of this build has made me log in just now to try this out. Ty
I've been running pretty much this exact build in open world for a few months. Only difference is that I was running warhorn for the vuln and using Leader of the Pack since I had a couple more stances on my bar. That being said, I'd argue this is pretty much THE best way to run power soulbeast in open world. And then you can mess around with concentration on your gear if you feel like you want more boon duration. I'm thinking of just running around with my diviner druid template, but with these traits, just to see if it's overkill.
Right now that build has extra might duration from my runes, so I could probably change up some traits and see what happens.
Love the new code system for adding your builds over to my acc, saving them in note pad ala Gw1 lol.

Yay Slb, my main. There are many options with power. Sword has so much mobility, it can even be used. I do feel there are not too many big choices for soulbeast, it is more straight forward. I wish there was more meaningful choices for traits. Weapon choices are good though
@WP for those of us who have not really gotten into PVP and WVW in the past but now I wish to really involve myself into both play aspects... any chance you do an updated guide for new players seeking to not be awful and bring our teams down as we learn sometime say in 2020?

Analysis time? Damn hard this time, WP show us your damn character stats I got like a quarter second's worth of frames to work with! D: Full Zerks armour weapons, and trinkets once again, and sigils of Bloodlust/Incapacitation on his axes and Force/Air on his GS. WP does recommend Agility on the GS, however he doesn't say which one to replace. I'd assume Air, but up to you. Only infusion seen was an agony one on his offhand axe. Pack runes equipped, but WP isn't recommending those. Feel free to replace with whatever (but not a movement speed one, as that's wasted in beastmode). Smokescale/Rock Gazelle recommended as primary pet and Rock Gazelle/Owl as secondary. No food/utility buffs shown once again, though Chost Pepper Poppers are recommended here for the free chills at night.
Lots of "do as I say and not as I do"s this time around, as WP has several things equipped that he doesn't necessarily recommend, but he also rarely tells us what should be slotted in its' place, so this one's really just a guideline at best. Notably, he's barely above a 50% crit chance, sitting at 56.71% when separated from his Smokescale and 63.86% when merged. I'd recommend slotting in several Assassin's pieces. Swapping full trinkets will bring you to 67.48/74.62% crit, full armour will give you 62.62/69.76% crit and both will grant 73.38/80.62% crit. (Trinkets plus weapons are at 70.81/77.95% crit, and full armour/weapons/trinkets in Assassin's grants 76.71/83.86% crit, which might be overkill given the amount of other damage boosters you have. On the other hand, the consistency of the damage might be worth it to you. This is probably the best out of all his builds to make use of Assassin's gear, after all.)
One build left! Gotta admit I'm sad my Reaper's gotta wait til last, but I'm excited to see what build he'll bring to the table! Until next time! :)
Edit: I'm an idiot I completely forgot about Fury. So add 20% to all those Crit chance numbers. Probably the best combo would be Assassin's trinkets and weapons but Zerk's armour so as to be over 90% in base form but not overcapped in Beast mode.

I run full berserker armor (sometimes I use marauder as well)+ scholar runes, berserker trinkets and weapons have force and accuracy sigils, what do you think? Which pieces should I slot to assassin, should I get a little bit more defensive stuff in my gear?
@@speedylordinc.3748 Which pieces are Marauder? Marauder's gear has more precision than Zerk's but less than Assassin's, so you get a bit of both worlds and also a bit of extra health. Downside to Marauder's is your crits hit less hard, but overall I'd say it's a great choice.
@@SheenaMalfoy I usually run full marauder armor with scholar runes, while weapons and trinkets always being berserker^ It gives me a tad more defense compared to going berserker only which I like about my current setup, however assasin pieces might boost precision a bit, but I don't know how much higher my precision has to be with my current setup

@@brahman5637 I actually didn't notice he had done that for this build until after my snarky reply... So I guess I was too hasty. You made perfect sense.
I also also wish the druid pets were squishy but dangerous. We could PvE with druid and, even when solo, focus on supporting the pet. That would make PvE druid so much nicer.

I have a druid build i made on my ranger that focuses on the pet. The nerf pets get in druid is unfortunate, i try and offset it with the beastmastery trait. I like the build it feels really good, pets weaker sure, but by healing and keeping it alive it can still get a fight done. One day maybe theyll be a little bit nicer to pets in the druid line again but for sake of making my pet a true beast in battle it accomplishes it decently well

Graphics mod!? The initial scene in PoF I was impressed by the beautiful brick wall you found, but even your Orr looks where better than mine. Are you using a mod? If so what are a couple of your settings for the look in this video.
My main ranger build is still the same one i created years ago and is a core cleric ranger with greatsword and axe/axe. very braindead with good survivability but low damage, had many a wvw 1v1's where people would ask what the hell im running as i couldn't die just wittling them down. Soulbeast is a good upgrade, the extra pet skills are incredibly useful so not surprised it was used.

So I am pretty new to the game and just wondering if this build would be good to level up with. A lot of stuff I see focuses around end game and not sure if these are viable without the traits and utility skills. Or if this information is still good as much could change in 7months
Sir, I cannot thank you enough. Ranger is my first char and I was really struggeling, I don't like the longbow and I don't like the greatsword, both are meant to be played with power dps. I played dagger condi, which worked fine in the base game, but since I fight tendrils in season 2, condi was no fun at all. I already wanted to put my ranger into the storeroom and never touch it again, but I can enjoy playing again with this build. Thanks a lot!
i do prefer Jacaranda to Owl, not as much mobility (but what are mounts for), but it has spiritual reprive AND photosythesis to heal yourself + lightning strike is also cool
Love this build. Combine with the frenzy sigil and you can run from mob to mob in the open world
I just started playing, got 80 on my ranger and finished the main story. It's soooooo disappointing that every build I see online don't use bows. I GOT A RANGER BECAUSE I WANTED TO USE A BOW FFS!
The build is dope though, I just wish the class in general would be more focused on the bows and less on melee/other builds. If I knew it from the start I'd 100% pick another class.
Love this, airways like axe but never knew how to do synergy correctly for open world and got quite bored of the classic playstyles (LB/GS).

i like the build but im being hammered on doing conditioning so should i get my axes with conditions or if i did get some PPF (power, precision, ferocity) axes, should power still be the highest stat?

Whirling Defense is one of those skills that is really useful when you get mobbed by enemies.
Just came back to the game and really enjoying the game, restarted a new character because its been so long and hopping straight back onto my 80s just felt weird. Settled on maining ranger so this is super helpful. Out of interest though (if you're still reading these comments), how hard did the July need hammer affect this build since its so power/heavy damage focused?
what would you suggest in terms of talents and trees for main hand dagger ?
On my ranger/druid/soulbeast I use axe main hand and torch off-hand. I love the fire skills (4) a flame-throwing skill does fire damage over time and (5) an aoe fire circle that doesn't last long but does a lot of damage in a short amount of time.
I don't know what to do for my "weapons set/skills set switch" the (~) button. Currently, I've got a dagger are the main hand and something else with gree skills on the off-hand. However, I don't really like them, but I don't know what I want to put in their place.
Been using this build since this video came out but then took a long break from the game. Is this build still effective compared to new builds I’ve seen lately?

Looking at returning to the game. It seems most over all specs do not use pets as much and not much ranged as before. I love a Ranged pet class. Looks like Soulbeast uses pet sometimes and maybe not others? I really need to relearn to play again. Thanks for the guide.

what tool are you use for your skills?
Nice build, tho I don't like things like the trait making heal skills grant boons from the pet. That makes me feel like I just "wasted" the heal if I heal myself without optimizing it with stacking boons and using, for example zephyr and the stance skill for 60% boon duration first.
I would love a good build that aren't behind the others but all utility and skills can be used on their own for their own niche, like cc for cc and dmg cooldown for doing more damage without having to spam them or stacking them.
Tho personally I find that GW2's main gameplay problem. Too focused on using things on cooldown and long rotations, rather than reactive gameplay and things that can't be 100% predicted but instead estimated and used correctly depending on what's ready at the time.
Did they change it so that you cant swap pets during combat now?
Like in all honestly I know you made a seperate Video about Armor sets but how in gods name in 50 mins did you not go once over what you are wearing right now for reference, I was looking for that part and it annoys me to no end the Build link also does not show any armor.
hi can you do an update to the classes after the nerf this Feb. They changed a lot for Ranger and ele. Mainly you cant swap pets in soulbeast.

Maybe some things got changed in the mean time, but I seem to be doing more DPS with my longbow than the axes.
What armor/skin is he wearing?
When I left the game last year to take a break I crafted a full set of ascended vipers gear (super costly) and grinded out the trinkets for my ranger, wonder if that’s still viable

Druid I feel is the weakest open world build, except if you do a lot of group things. But solo... I get sad, I wish it had some more offensive nature magic, if you went into damage stats, kind of like Scourge or Firebrand. :( Soulbeast though, really good! I run dagger/axe + longbow, and my pets are either smokescale or gazelle, and in the other slot always Jacaranda. I love it, but also it is so good for cleave on swap (after worldly impact -> un-soulbeast) and some survival! Also, extra condi removal. I also wanted to add, Predator's cunning is quite good with quickness and Dagger mainhand, it's nothing to scoff at even on power setups. :)

Gonna give this a try and see how I like it, but man is it going to feel weird to not have the longbow piercing shots that I've grown so accustomed to as my bread and butter.
I gave my asura ranger dual axe for the entirely cosmetic reason of how cool the 5 attack looks on a little asura. But given this build... redeemed! I did it cuz how powerful it is. Yeah, that's it

Another fun build. Tried this out today. Not as bursty as the Unload Thief and certainly not good at AOE like the Reaper Necro, but incredible stats in Beast Mode. Lots of suitability and flexibility. Great video series! Thanks!

The really weird part is why is WP's asura not being attacked? That seemingly barfy asura is Awakened or Risen. WP should be fighting for his life. Must be a mini I don't have.

Just berserker gear, with scholar runes, or whatever quality of life rune you want.... like I suggest Golemancer runes for max fun grab everything for max damage tbh

First off all is this the best day in my life because I was despredly looking forward to see this video.
Secondly do I like to see that I have been playing a similar bild for all the time and in return aren't too much of a noob in my mainclass. ;)
And finally does that build look like a lot of future fun. I will love it but I may need to use a longbow because of the nice skins I have for it.
