Hi Mukluk! Many thanks for sharing and promoting the build! As you mentioned the build will be viable almost everywhere where extremely short bursts (under 4-5 seconds) don't happen. This is usually the case in most groups in PvE raids/fractals. Experienced groups can achieve very short bursts so the viewers can look at Power Soulbeast for those occasions. The only thing I'd like to add is that the F1 skill Maul of Warthog is actually a pretty decent skill for this build. There is a condi part (2x 6 secs of Bleeding) but the real good part is actually the power modifiers it has. It has a power modifier of 2.2. For a skill that takes only half a second to activate this is a very good value. Sadly the cooldown of this skill doesn't allow it to be used twice under Sic Em (9.6 seconds + 500 ms activation time is over 10 seconds). There is a similar skill that you can use under certain conditions. It is the Bristleback F1 skill Rain of Spikes. This skill sends 3 projectiles to 3 targets in 600 range. If there are multiple targets in 600 range you can abuse this skill by standing inside your main target's hitbox. This will send all 9 projectiles to your main target which brings the skill to a whopping power modifier of 3.6 and 9x 5 secs of Bleeding. The selfish version of the build with Mad King runes was the version that I focused on back then. I had time recently to check out the stance share version with Krait Runes and I was surprised that it can actually beat 37K. I will be finishing that benchmark after the patch and release it soon after.
I don't know how I missed this comment for 8 months, YT notifications failed me, but thanks so much for the extra information and the build itself! I rarely do specific build videos but this one was so much fun I wanted to help spread it around.
At the time of filming I forgot that Dagger 1's auto attack chain has poison on the later hits, and dagger 2 has a small amount. So you can use Predator's cunning talent with either build shown in the video.

Great video Muk! I wanted to try this out when the original build was posted on reddit but it didn't have the best explanation to go with it. This is exactly what I needed
Since ive seen this video, i used the mad king runes in my pvp build. I do not really think my build is optimized. But i use shortbow, dagger/dagger. I see that mad king and wolf pack have a great synergy. I really love it. Might use sic em in my build to. Ty for thus build it helps me a lot in pvp
I love this build, is so much fun and has a lot of dps! I would like to give a little suggestion... Try delaying a little bit the torch 5 (Bonfire) when swappin back to Axe-Torch so it can synchronize with the Sic-Em dagger-axe combo, since Bonfire counts as a Fire field and Whirling defense is a combo finisher which applies Burning bolts (a lot of them), this increases the burning output of this build :)
This is probably the first and only hybrid build that is actually good! I'd just like to see you use whirling axe while your fire field is still active, that could get you some nice extra burning
Been using a pretty similar build with Axe/Horn and Shortbow. Bursting/Agony Sigils or can do Earth/Agony as well. Krait Runes. EDIT: Pets are Iboga and Bristleback. Dagger/Axe can swap the Shortbow, I just kinda like bows... So yeah.
I think this build would be really nice for CM 99 specifically since theres quite a lot of downtime on fights like Ensolyss/MAMA where you're not actively hitting the boss, allowing Condis to tick off!
I truly love this build, its so much fun! I use it for almost everything. The PvP version is not the stongest but damn is it fun(and you can come far whit it, if you want). Thank you Muk!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely seem like a fun build, and I love the idea of hybrid builds, but I’ll definitely stick to power sb for fractals. The difference between the burst of power SB and this build is pretty significant, and will lead to longer phases in every CM fight. Looking at the Skorvald clip, it looks like the other SB didn’t actually have an Offensive potion, so you can actually multiply their damage by at least 1.25, which puts them doing over 100k damage higher than you. I’m definitely not knocking the build, and it’ll get the job done, but Power SB is leagues stronger in Fractals. In raids, though, I can see more merit for this build. Great job on the guide. Edit: corrected a typo
Muk went from condi to hybrid, now he will go from hybrid to power to finally understand that nothing comes close to power slb. I dont know why he insists on trying to play condi when you can literally do +100k bursts on power soulbeast.
Ali Alrai well actually he went from Condi to Power to Condi to Hybrid. He’s tried the power build but he doesn’t like it, so he settled on the hybrid. Which is fine and it’s WAY better than playing Condi SB in fractals.
@@alialrai5622 as long as it gets the job done, which it does, and he is having fun, which is the point of every game, then the build works perfectly... Might not be fractal meta but that only matters on really tryhard - speedrun comps, so I don't see any problem on running this build on fractals, I've also cleared CMs 99 and 100 with this build with absolute no problem while still being top DPS :)
I started playing 1 month ago and currently running on the power Dps Longbow / Dagger+Axe built. This looks incredible but i just can feel myself breaking all my fingers trying to get this off.. Maybe in a year or two ill pull this off haha
Greetings. I enjoy your videos and Ranger is very main for me in GW2 having the most favored weapon attacks and skills. I personally am not a fan of dagger primary or the ax secondary but do love ax primary. ax/torch or ax/warhorn with short bow is a great beginners way to go. Having a long bow optional for maybe those world boss fights you let a lot of others do while popping from a safe distance to just assist. Most builds or options you present can easily apply to these combinations. Getting to level 80 is only a 1/16 of the game. (probably 1/32 of the game now) Would love your thoughts of how to get to those gear when none of those items have been had as of yet. Also like to hear your thoughts mixing maybe the celestial gear (adds to all stats) mix with gear that would boost the power and or condition damages for potential survivability rather than some min max build.
Hey Muk, are there any edits you'd recommend to this build after the May balance patch? Maybe a Sigil of Torment or swapping to Krait runes? Just wondering if you've had any time to play around with it after the patch. Thanks!
I am in Mistlock crafting this build as I type this, So excuse me if this is a dumb question. I've been using the Trailblazer's Build of yours for Open world PvE, it's nearly bulletproof and amazing at soloing Champs and Hard content. Have you tried this new Vipers Hybrid Build for just Mukluking around Open World PvE content?
@mukluk During your video when you list what skills you use you say that after One Wolf Pack to use "Bon Fire". I am unaware of this skill can you elaborate? Also is there a budget Sigil I can use besides Rune of the Mad King?
Would Grieving stats not be a option? You miss out on Expertise so i guess this is why you don't use it? Just want to hear why Viper and not Grieving before i make the gear for the character =)
As shown from the video when the graph came up, after 5-10 seconds of combat bleeding becomes near 80% of your damage. Expertise (on vipers) boosts bleeding but ferocity (on grieving) doesn't help bleeding at all. So you may have stronger burst for the first few seconds of the fight but then you would fall further down afterward I imagine.
Hey, you're reasoning is correct. Main reason for no Grieving gear is because the build still requires you to cap Bleeding at 100% duration and the best way to reach this is via stacking Viper's gear. Way back then when I started thinking about this build I always thought I would end up using Agony sigil for 20% Bleeding duration and some Grieving gear, but it turns out this is worse. It mainly comes down to the fact that the game has extremely limited sigil options to use in a Hybrid build. When you think about it by using Agony sigil you are only boosting one part of your dps - the condi part. That is the problem with such sigils. Meanwhile Geomancy and Earth sigils sort of have their own DPS and therefore much better suited for hybrid builds.
hello love the video Im just wondering if it still viable. also I look at your videos for scrapper only saw quickness build for pve wondering if theres a similar build like this souldbeast for scrapper to be dps. ty
Hi Mukluk, I'm working of changing up my Ranger/Soulbeast today, and wanted to know your opinion on using this build, or your IcyHot build. Which do you prefer, and why? I mostly play solo PvE, but hope to get into Raids to start working toward legendary armor some day.
IcyHot was meant as a pvp build and has a mix of offense and survival. For group PvE you would want to go full damage, not spending some of your stats in defense. So for group PvE I would do this between those two choices.
This is a very interesting build, and I do possess a hybrid power/condition damage build for one of my Warriors so I might try to make a version of this build that can work in open world PvE cause Viper's gear to me is really squishy to get anything done in open world PvE. Would a combination of Berserker's and Carrion's gear work for this or would it not be as effective?
Neither of those sets have expertise so that will lose a chunk of damage. And Berserkers has ferocity which doesn't help this specific build much, but it may be serviceable until you can replace it.
@Hydrakk it is true that berserker + carrion wouldn't be as effective as viper (damage wise) because of the loss of expertise... If you want more survivability maybe you can try a combination of Trailblazers + rampagers (or carrion) if you want to keep it hybrid and be a little bit tankier for open world PvE (I've never tried these combinations before, so I'm not sure how'd they perform)
Hey Muk! The build looks very interesting. Would it work better with the Quickdraw talent? It is really good with axe 5 and torch 5. I play the power build and i do 32k without it and 35k with the talent (longbow/dagger, axe) you loose some ferocity and the rotation is sightly different but i found it funnier. I believe that Quickdraw with one wolf pack and torch 5 will result on applying faster the condis :). I was also thinking about sic em, i don't understand that ability very well. Does the target take 40% more dmg during 10sec or does it take 40% more dmg on the next attack? If it only takes 40% more dmg with the next attack wouldn't it br better to use vipers nest? I know that if you take vipers nest the build will no longer be hydrid :c. (sorry for my bad English)
sic'em doesn't work with conditions, I've tested it. Only power based attacks. As for the quickdraw question I'm honestly not sure, would require testing.
How come this build is not mentioned in the Hybrid section in Discretized? Is it viable still? been getting too much complaints with their Condi SB build on CM's I had only 4 stat infusions made another 5 not sure how significant that will be.
Merged PvE Soulbeast is losing about 1% damage. Protect me bug finally getting fixed. PvP Druid will get a heailng increase but will still be a less desirable support in pvp than a tempest due to mechanics.
Hi Mukluk, thanks for the video, ranger is my main and i would like to try something different than power-dps builds that i always playing. Is this build still working with all changes since EoD come out? Thanks👻
Sorry about all the questions, I'm a new subscriber. Would you use this one for solo open PvE play outside of fractals? If not, any modifications that you'd recommend? I'm not very good with rotations and love the idea behind Soulbeast, but am having survivability issues with other builds.
Almost any ranger build can solo fine just by having the pet tanked for you (so not being merged). But you could replace some gear if you want even more survivability. Example: swapping out vipers for trailblazers still gives condition damage but also has vitality/toughness.
As shown in the video, the main source of damage past the 10 second mark is bleeding, losing that increased bleed damage would be a sizable drop I imagine. If you insisted on spotter it might be better to go full power.
This build looks insane! If cDPS is needed, I really like to run my current Condi Soulbeast, and I think I will use this as a secondary set. What is different with the hybrid variant is the major trait in Skirmishing, because I'm so used to the trait Quick Draw, but is Vicious Quarry this much better for hybrid?
I know this was stated as being great for pve content like Fractals and Raids (possibly) but could i solo through PoF with this build? or do you have another variant for a condi-soulbeast for pve things other than fractals and raids?
Do you have any recommendations for modifying this concept for use with a shortbow (at a dps loss of course)? Im running a condi build with a shortbow and i really like the weapon, but i get a little frustrated by the ramp up time.
I've not been able to achieve the same ramp up time with shortbow with anything I've tried yet. Recently I've been using shortbow only in pvp or open world due to that.
I've watched this video about 5 or 6 times over the past several months, and it looks great, but I have noticed that this and some of your other suggested builds do NOT have a stun break (am I missing something)? Maybe stun breaks aren't that important when not playing PvP, or WvW content, as I don't really play them, other than occasionally doing one or two WvW daily's to get easy track potions, or for a binge WvW play to get my next Gift of Battle for another Legendary. Are stun breaks irrelevant in PvE, including Strikes and Raids? I'm just trying to get into doing Raids with a new static group in one of the guilds I belong to, so forgive me if any of these questions are stupid.
In end game pve such as fractals and raids most dps will just be trying to maximize damage and rarely bring stun breaks. Nearly everything that could stunyou can be avoided.
@@MuklukTH-cam Makes sense, if you are good at avoiding all the mechanics of Raids and Strike Missions (which I'm not), so I guess that players who are just learning those two game modes might want to keep a stun break skill, until they are good enough at each encounter to avoid needing them.
They changed the interval one One Wolf Pack from 1/4s to 1s, making it proc 4 times less. Edit: could still average 20k dmg with 30k peaks, not ideally geared (acessories), no banners, and with little practice
@@MuklukTH-cam what about the accessories, rings, amulet, backpack etc, can I use whatever or there are specific ones, since I didn't you talking about them?
None. Same for fractals. It's decent and average but it's still better to go full power or full condi (according to the boss) than being average everywhere.
I believe I found and fixed the broken link, but I'm not sure it's what you think it was. It was a link for the equipment I use to stream (microphone, camera, etc). However the traits are shown in the vid
@@MuklukTH-cam holy lord... an answer by mukluk himself :O what am i supposed to do? I am not properly dressed for that. Jokes aside, thanks for the answer and greetings fromGermany :D PS.: i love your videos. Keep up the great work :)
@@MuklukTH-cam Running around in open world, would you still take viper's armour or trailblazers? I have ascended viper trinkets just wondering what I should dump my gold into regarding armour as trailblazers is crazy expensive
Trailblazers has no power or precision stats, which this build relies on for heavy bleeding (on crit) and general power damage. In which case you’d be better off traiting towards pure condition damage. But that’s not the point of this video 🙂
I use this monster in fracs all the time and was like, how would Mad king runes preform? Then i Found this :) gonna test it aswell on golem, and with my shortbow version for 100cm
So, to do the most damage....a 'bow shooter' now has to become even more melee with no bow...just stuff they can throw. I played a ranger because I love bows, and being more squishy was acceptable because I had range. Having to give up my bow just do become more melee...I may as well be playing a warrior.
Heard alot about this build, no ranger but seems pretty fun to play in open world. Im new to GW2, about a month only. Question Is it similar or same to this build? metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Soulbeast_-_Power_Soulbeast For your armor set up in this video, what armor set do you use? Which rune and sigil? Also what about food?
It is different from the build you linked, this build uses a heavy mix of condition and power damage, the one you linked is a pure power build. Armor, Runes, and such is covered at 2:42 Food, is at 3:10

@@MuklukTH-cam thanks for the quick response :)
Amazing video! I have one question, where do I download the damage addon? So you can see the dps
You can get it at www.deltaconnected.com/arcdps/
Hi Mukluk! Is this build still viable after the changes to One Wolf Pack? Thank you.
How come this build is not mentioned in the Hybrid section in Discretized? Is it viable still? been getting too much complaints with their Condi SB build on CM's I had only 4 stat infusions made another 5 not sure how significant that will be.
could you have a similar build but with shortbow and dag/axe or axe/dag?
what do you think about the upcoming patch and how would it effect the ranger class?
Merged PvE Soulbeast is losing about 1% damage. Protect me bug finally getting fixed. PvP Druid will get a heailng increase but will still be a less desirable support in pvp than a tempest due to mechanics.
@@MuklukTH-cam thank you :)
If we change some gear parts with grieving, wouldnt that boost dps?
@@MuklukTH-cam Wouldn't being unmerged defeat the purpose of Soulbeast though?
Hey Muk, can you please do an updated version of this build :) ?
It still works and I still use it when I do fractals.
Any change to consider after patch uptade? Sickem nerf feels bad
What's stats do you run on accessories?
I'm running full vipers gear for this build.
What is the dps if you take spotter over increased bleed damage? Groups may expect you to take it instead.
As shown in the video, the main source of damage past the 10 second mark is bleeding, losing that increased bleed damage would be a sizable drop I imagine. If you insisted on spotter it might be better to go full power.
@@MuklukTH-cam some groups may expect you to take it is the why I am curious. It would buff group dps at personal.
I believe so. More crits = more sharpened edges procs on everything you do.
I know this was stated as being great for pve content like Fractals and Raids (possibly) but could i solo through PoF with this build? or do you have another variant for a condi-soulbeast for pve things other than fractals and raids?
You could solo fine with this, just stay un-merged and have a tanky pet (bear or jacaranda) stand in front of you while you dish out the damage.
@@MuklukTH-cam ah thank ya sir
So can i use my berserk accesories for that hybrid ? Cuz i dont have others !
Hi, Mukluk, is this currently (10/2020) the build you´re using next to your heal druid ? I think I`ve seen this in your streams
Is this viable with shortbow+dagger/torch ?
Any good untamed builds?
What would you modify to make this more solo open world friendly?
If you aren't merged with your pet so that the pet can tank for you, you shouldn't need to change much else for open world.
What DPS meter are you using?
ARC dps, it can be found here: www.deltaconnected.com/arcdps/
@@MuklukTH-cam Makes sense, if you are good at avoiding all the mechanics of Raids and Strike Missions (which I'm not), so I guess that players who are just learning those two game modes might want to keep a stun break skill, until they are good enough at each encounter to avoid needing them.
any different options on armor build besides vipers? im not that rich to go full vipers yet lmao
Vipers would be the end objective, but anything with high + condition damage until you can get there.
They changed the interval one One Wolf Pack from 1/4s to 1s, making it proc 4 times less.
Edit: could still average 20k dmg with 30k peaks, not ideally geared (acessories), no banners, and with little practice
@MuklukTH-cam Sorry for the late comment but is this build still good after the July balance patch? Did it get better or worse?
It is like 2% worse. It is still completely viable at this time.
What about accessories the same thing as armor "Vipers"?
Yep, power/precision/condition damage/expertise
Is this still viable? How about shortbow?
what is the second weapon set he uses?
Dagger/Axe and Axe/Torch
@@MuklukTH-cam Thank you!
@@MuklukTH-cam what about the accessories, rings, amulet, backpack etc, can I use whatever or there are specific ones, since I didn't you talking about them?
@@HardDrumStep At 2:43 I covered gear, but the goal is "viper" stats with this build.
In which raid bosses this build shines or better use?
None. Same for fractals. It's decent and average but it's still better to go full power or full condi (according to the boss) than being average everywhere.
Muk, what about the condi-engie? Its getting a buff.
Is this build viable for solo open-world content?
Yeah, just have your pet unmerged so it can tank things for you.
can you use a longbow for ranged
In this particular build? I wouldn't.
It's been 8 months or so since this video came out - is this build still viable or did it get nerfed?
I was nerfed by like 2% dps. It still functions and I still use it in fractals myself.
@@MuklukTH-cam Excellent! Thanks, Mukluk! Great video! I look forward to playing with this build. :)
Doesnt One Wolf Pack has 0.4s cd to proc again?
0.25 sec according to the Wiki, so the big combo with birds, bonfire, and whirling defense is proccing it (probably) as fast and often as possible.
I clicked on the link to see your equipment and traits, but it doesn't want to open for me.
I believe I found and fixed the broken link, but I'm not sure it's what you think it was. It was a link for the equipment I use to stream (microphone, camera, etc). However the traits are shown in the vid
Is it still viable with Exotic Gear?
pretty much all builds in the game are viable in exotic gear, but slightly better numbers in ascended
@@MuklukTH-cam holy lord... an answer by mukluk himself :O what am i supposed to do? I am not properly dressed for that.
Jokes aside, thanks for the answer and greetings fromGermany :D
PS.: i love your videos. Keep up the great work :)
With the upcoming change to soulbeast will this be changing any?
The only change is that the merged pet will give +150 condition damage instead of +200, that will be a loss of about 1% dps.
ty and good luck :)
Is it all vipers gear weapons included?
yep
@@MuklukTH-cam Running around in open world, would you still take viper's armour or trailblazers? I have ascended viper trinkets just wondering what I should dump my gold into regarding armour as trailblazers is crazy expensive
Trailblazers has no power or precision stats, which this build relies on for heavy bleeding (on crit) and general power damage. In which case you’d be better off traiting towards pure condition damage. But that’s not the point of this video 🙂
Thx for build
emm chak infusion ?
Thanks Mukluk ;)
Is this build viable in open world as well?
Just about anything works in open world. For Ranger, just stay unmerged so your pet tanks mobs for you and you'll be fine.
Does this build still work?
Yep
I use this monster in fracs all the time and was like, how would Mad king runes preform? Then i Found this :) gonna test it aswell on golem, and with my shortbow version for 100cm
So, to do the most damage....a 'bow shooter' now has to become even more melee with no bow...just stuff they can throw. I played a ranger because I love bows, and being more squishy was acceptable because I had range. Having to give up my bow just do become more melee...I may as well be playing a warrior.
Heard alot about this build, no ranger but seems pretty fun to play in open world.
Im new to GW2, about a month only.
Question
Is it similar or same to this build?
metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Soulbeast_-_Power_Soulbeast
For your armor set up in this video, what armor set do you use?
Which rune and sigil?
Also what about food?
It is different from the build you linked, this build uses a heavy mix of condition and power damage, the one you linked is a pure power build.
Armor, Runes, and such is covered at 2:42
Food, is at 3:10
Nice build
I don't understand I tried exactly the same but I'm stuck at 20k damage....
