Never in all my days have I seen someone fishing with maggot meatballs and spam. Absolutely fascinating. I love seeing all these UK fishing techniques. Cheers from Mid-Atlantic US.
Absolutely love your videos. Used to go Carp fishing with my grandad 20 years ago. Never thought of getting into it myself since his passing until recently, after watching your video's and your beginners tips I've just got my first match rod and a few bits to get me into the game. Keep up the great work!
Graeme is the one person I'd absolutely love to go fishing with in the world. What an absolute legend, the whole pallet wood projects reminded me so much of my late father although I'd wish he'd been into fishing like me. Keep up the great videos
Just back from a long day in traffic...just the ticket fastest 39mins today thankyou Graeme and crew ...you just keep them coming.. Regards Stuart from the balmy North.👍
Another great video Graham. Despite living near the River Great Ouse in Buckinghamshire (which I believe held a record for Barbel in the past) I still haven't managed to catch any Barbel in the UK yet. My only Barbel successes to date have been on holiday in France on a campsite we used to go to where the river Dordogne & Vezere meet at a little village called Limeuil. Not huge fish but 4-8 pounders on a lightweight travel rod with Emmental cheese as bait in the fast flowing sections was fantastic sport. Now I'm retired I want to get back into UK fishing & Barbel will be my first target species.
I caught more mini Barbel in the last year or so than the last 20 years put together. At least it might be a good sign for our river anglers of the future.
Brown crumb falls apart, barely binds - white crumb binds like 3 day old porridge, mixed with a kilo of cement! Something to bare in mind when in the tackle shop, I’ve been caught out a few times. Rolling meat is my favourite coarse fishing tactic - a few tins of spam, a bucket of groundbait/pellet and a trout fishing style jacket with all the odds and sorts needed for a day roving the river. Don’t forget some bread crust in case you spot any hunting chub!
My self and my little nephew made some totally awesome fishing show. posters yesterday saying if you love fishing then checkout the totally awesome fishing show on TH-cam. He put one on his bedroom window and I got one to hang on my bivvy. we are big fans of this show hope this help get u more subscribers. 👍🎣🦈🐡
A barbel of 16ib was caught at the local river to me last season and a number of 10/11s, at the thames near the trout at tabpole. Looking forward to having a go for one soon!
Fantastic Graeme, absolutely fantastic mate! Or should I say “Totally Awesome”, lol, or both actually! Keep on keeping on! 🤘🤘✌🏻! And a fish is a fish no matter what size they are, right? Better than a skunk’n!!( blank)
I've found a Zoom Q8 that works well in natural light and you've got phantom power and will charge off a power bank. I use them at festivals and they don't fart near a base bin.
Hello, I'm from Georgia and I'm watching your fishing and it 's very cool..fishing at sea 👍. I live on the Black Sea and I want to catch fish like that.
Hi Graeme, I used to use the maggot cannonballs on the Royalty on the first swim d/s of the bypass bridge. You could floatfish close in, I'd use white crumb so they would sit like cricketballs on the bottom and the barbel would be rolling them around trying to break them up for the maggots. I miss barbel...sigh.
I remember those days well..I don't even know if you can get golden breadcrumb groundbait now,but as you say it would be a real knee trembler watching Barbel in front of you pick up a ball of groundbait and shake them to get at the maggots. Can't be many of us left who remember those days. Rivers just seem choked with weed nowadays.
@@TAFishing I was 16, some bloke fishing on the salmon platform at Ringwood gave me a bait dropper too which was for me the real clincher, I still have it!
Great video Graeme! 👍 Ever considered using braid for touch ledgering? Might give you just that little bit more sensitivity? I’d love to try that but no barbel rivers anywhere near to where I live (in Germany) 😕 ...but then maybe I should just drive 2.5 hrs! Just rewards 👌
A great start to the weekend, another masterclass with Graeme as he goes after the one fish species I didn't catch in over 50 years of course fishing. No not the chub but the barbel. I went after them on the Thames and used Luncheon Meat near the Large weir at Marlow. I swear I hooked one but whatever it was it took me down stream, walkers had gathered to watch me (about 20 people) and in my panic to show off and land it my rod top and line got caught in a tree the line broke and I lost that fish. I still have nightmares about the embarrassment, disappointing the crowd and not being able to identify the fish. So watching you do it with comparative ease makes me feel like hitting the dislike button. Still a great video nicely shot and edited, thank you for posting.
I have the same rod or very similar! My grandad gave it to me when I first started fishing must be about 50-60 years old. I wonder if it’s the same one?
great video Graeme. I heard in one of your videos you mentioned fishing in kerry head in ireland. Have you any content fishing in this place? I live nearby and would love to fish there
In my opinion no. I have had Salmon to 35lbs,but I don't think I would ever land a 35lb Barbel if they grew that big !! A 35lb Sea Trout would probably run into 2nd place.
hello Graeme fantastic video as always I can ask you something that I do not understand and if the single lead and hook that you always use you mount it on a piece of terminal or on the direct line of the reel thanks for now

Hi Graeme, I hope you’re doing well, and catching lots of beautiful fish! I’m sorry to ask, but is there any chance you would be able to send a happy birthday message, or give a day of fishing lessons (paid of course!) to my boyfriend? It’s his 21st birthday coming up and he absolutely loves watching your youtube videos and learning from you. He watches every single video that you post - often several times over! I’m hoping that this would make his day really special. However, I completely understand if not and am sorry to fill up your inbox! Regardless of the answer, thank you so much for doing what you do and for making him (and so many others) so happy. He has learnt everything he knows about fishing and also general tasks around the house from you. Thank you for having such a positive impact on him :) I hope you have a lovely day
