- Episode#175. In this video I repair and upgrade my Traxxas XMAXX. I replace the front bulkhead, clean the truck up, Install new Outerwears shock covers and most importantly install the RC-MONSTER 1/5th scale wheel adapters meant to allow you to put HPI baja from wheels and tires on your traxxas xmaxx!

Great vid mate. Body is looking great. I have been hanging on for a proline for mine but they still have not come up with anything....same goes for wheels. I like the 1/5 wheel adapters but for me I want the bigger plusher wheels, 5t/ baja are too small 4 me. Weirdly the xmaxx wheels I'm running on my 5ive are holding up! Despite the cracks. 👍👍
I hear ya! The tires will still work despite the cracks but I wanted something more aggressive. We will see how these hold up especially rally on 8S! I do agree that someone should release so e wheels and tires for this truck. We will see if proline does something in the future . At least these MADMAX can be sued on my 1/5th vehicles as well so no loss!Thanks for watching~!
yeah, I have a 5ive and baja too.....so have been tempted by the madam's for a while. decent price too. funnily enough i'm actually doing the opposite at the mo and running my xmaxx wheels on my 5ive!.... going to try them on my baja too.... :)

Just wanted to say I used your Maxamps code recently. Never thought those batteries would make that big of a difference. Ran my Yeti the other day on one of their 3s packs and I can tell a difference for sure! Temps all around were cooler as well.
I look at the pile of 'ok' batteries I've bought over the years and just shake my head.

Great job Chris looks great with the new body and those LOSI 5T wheels will never break or crack compared to the stock traxxas. A set of some Hostiles will look sick and perform well! I would like to see how my Stainless steel Webbed rims with some trenchers would look on there!! The thing that's funny to me is that I got a mini me body very similar from your here for my REVO 3.3 . I just got got rid of it and my Buddy Mike has it now. I also did a little face lift and some new exhaust gromets so there's no air leaks for that little 3.3 NITRO . I may do a goodby video of it? Talk to you soon.

I know exactly the stainless steel web rims that you're talking about and they are some badass looking wheels. That's cool that you gave your Revo 3.3 a facelift. It was well taken care of to begin with I know but taking care of those exhaust leaks will make it run 1 million times better for sure. It would be cool to see a goodbye video like you did with your dBXL. I had so much running around to do yesterday being the holiday season but I hope to be able to have more time once the holidays die down and we will be getting in some good RC fun my friend! Why would you put smaller wheels on the xmaxx
It was an experiment when the truck was first released.
What would you recommend for a beginners that's on a budget. As a city kid I always liked RC cars but was unable to afford them. Seeing your vids now I'm slowly wanting one. Lol

+CLUTCH1st Hey what's up bro?! It all depends on what kind of RC you want and what your needs are. Do you want a 2 Wheel Dr. or a four-wheel-drive vehicle do you want a car or a truck do you want to jump like a monster truck or do you want to race on the track if you want a good all-around vehicle especially for a beginner I would go with a TRAXXAS slash 2wd or TRAXXAS Slash 4wd which are cool short course trucks and they are good bashers and you can also take them to Island raceway in Lindenhurst and race them or go there on practice day and drive on the track. If you like monster trucks I would go with a Traxxas stampede 2 WD or 4wd. If you like drifting and on road vehicles then the HPI sprint is a good vehicle. Go over to Bob at Bayshore hobbies and take a look at what he has! She looks like new. I'm really suprized you haven't had any issues with the ring and diff gears. I like my shock covers but because I have the IRC BB shocks there a pain to get on but there easy to do maintenance as they just pull off.
I wouldn't imagine Hostile MX's to be a good choice as there extremely hard and personally I think the Xmaxx won't have enough weight to really push them into the ground to bite, crushers are more of a softer compound and work perfectly for gravel and loose grass. I recommend Silverback rims and bead locks and some hostile foams (if you go with zero growth) In the future you won't be able to put Vipers on there though, great video.
Thanks for watching bro! Yes it proves that this truck is durable in stock form. I like these outerwear better than the FFRC ones I had because these area breeze to pull on and off! I will most likely be going with Hostile soft or the Crushers. These blu bead locks are silverbacks so I'm aware of their quality! They make great stuff! I appreciate all you input and its always great to hear from you!
BTW you'd be surprised how much this truck weighs with the batteries. I think its got plenty of weight for some good bite!
Nice paint... but with those wheels it looks like the a arms will be a snapping they look to low profile and hard more punishment into the components. See how she goes!

Yes I agree. This was a few years ago when there were no other wheel/tire options available for the truck. As soon as proline released theirs I picked them up! 👍

Video is old but did you weight them? Seems much lighter than the original one. Those would be perfect for kraton 8s.
Bet that would save your servo a lot of wear are at with the 5b fronts all the way around going to order mine today
Be advised I made this video before any aftermarket tires were available. I found that these tires were not good for the truck
How come the smaller in size made the esc over heat
The smaller tires did not make the ESC overheat. It did not have good TopSpeed because of the small diameter tires and didn’t allow cushioning for jumps
Nice video as always, may I suggest using the rear hpi 5b wheels with proline bow tie or trencher 1/5 tires

Looks sharp, nice facelift. We all bash them but there is nothing like the new clean look. It shows we all care. Does anybody make a adapter for a Zenoah motor? Lol! The Hostile Crushers are a cool tire and look way better in person. Would fit that truck well. The only choice you would have would be weather on not to use the zero growth inserts or not. They do work well but are very difficult to mount. Really have to work the tire around those because they are so much stiffer. But being 6s you will be spinning those tires really fast. Start buying tires and wheels like that with the inserts and you will have 250 bucks spent in a hurry. If trenchers are a possible choice DDM has those on special this weekend. Hopefully you see this in time. 24.99 for a pair, will still need inserts. One thing I will say is that I am not a big fan of trenchers in my opinion the traction is just not there compared to how they look. Once again just my opinion. I had a reed case motor on mine on my Baja and that thing annihilated them! Take care my friend!

I would go with Integy 12mm offset hub adapter and keep it 17mm

Love the new mods Chris that body looks cool, I own a HPI SUPER 5SC FLUX and you can get these chrome rims that would look good on the X-MAXX.

I have! Im most likely going to go with Hostile baja front tires. I have seen someone with the MTXL tires but I have to check and see how they fit!

Hello. Quick question will the 5t rear wheels work on the Xmaxx without any problems? I ask because I am about to purchase a set of baja 5t wheels and in your video you Sade to use the front wheels instead. Any help I'd really appreciate it.

Is it also possible to put the Traxxas X Maxx wheels on the Losi 5iveT?
Losi 5iveT is 24mm Hex......X Maxx 23mm hex?
It is possible I have seen someone do it but you need to modify its not a direct fit
EVERYDAY RC Oke....did find out that the hex from the X Maxx also 24mm is like from the Losi 5T. So it is indeed possible to make them fit on the Losi....Thx for the replay.
I'm going to see where i can get them here in the Netherlands.....Awesome wheels from the X Maxx.....looks nasty on the Losi , i think :)

What fan do you have on top of the motor
its a universal electronic fan. This one is the Gdt Brushless DC fan. Model:Gdt6010S Its a DC 5V 0.24A cooling fan!~
Botajell has my number and it would be my pleasure to send you picture of 1/5 scale Hostile tires. I have MXT's and Crushers mounted. Also have some paddles mounted. My Crushers are rears and measure 3 1/4" wide the fronts would be a bit narrower. Just get my number from John if you want. Thanks for great videos!

Im getting new wheels and tires these were just a test fit and I have seen one person with the team chase 1/5 roll cage on their XMAXX it looked sick. The Raiden exocage looks good but is crazy expensive!
