Thank you for giving a simple and straight forward recipe that doesnt require an entire weekend and gucci backyard bbq setup to prepare. Being a college student living in a 3rd floor appartment shouldnt be a reason to spend fall break playing calladootyWW2inspace instead of scoring 200 meals worth of premo grass fed meat.
We make a rump roast recipe almost just like that called Italian Beef and we shred it and put it on Hoagie buns. It’s excellent that way but I try (TRY) to limit carbs so a lot of times I just eat it like you did. I told my wife just a few days ago if I shoot a buck or a doe (say a prayer for me brother…I’m trying to get the pigs under control to ease the pressure on the deer lol!) I’m gonna separate the rear hams like that (I do the same thing to feral hogs) and do exactly what you did in this video. I think we use a packet of Italian seasoning and add some beef broth and a lot more of those pepperoncini peppers. I’m gonna give your version a try. I’ll be hittin the stand again tomorrow evening so if you don’t mind asking our Lord to send a nice legal buck or doe my way I’d appreciate it! I’ll be bow hunting for deer with a rifle and a 44 Magnum for hogs which are almost a sure bet. You know, a good pork roast isn’t bad in a crock pot either. One of my tricks is to put either on the pellet smoker for a couple hours and then transfer it to the slow cooker.
I tried this out months ago with pickle juice/ pickles instead of pepperocinis and it worked like a DREAM as well!! If I want to make it a meat gravy to put over noodles/potatoes, I cook mushrooms in with it and thicken with cornstarch at the end like he mentioned. FANTASTIC!!!! Goes amazing with cornbread! No more gamey deer taste, Whoo!
Hey Preacher, this is different from any I've seen! I've never been much for deer roast, always taste gamey to me! Might have to give this a try!! God Bless and stay safe!👍
If you add a packet of au juice (or brown gravy) to what you have already in the pot you’ll have a nice gravy without having to cook the juice down. I’m going to try your bacon grease addition. My neighbor just gave me a venison roast and I’m thawing it to make the Mississippi recipe.
Man, I'm thinking about cooking roe leg (around 3-4 kilos) in large cast iron pot with a lid, kinda low and slow. so you have any tips? I've cooked lamb shoulder (with a bone) using this method for couple hours in 120°C oven and it turned out fantastic. It was sliding off the bone. In the other hand roe has so little fat, so I'm kinda afraid it could turn out dry and mushy. I'd appreciate any tips for this meat :)
I do something similar but I use 2 beef bullion cube , a little Moore's marinade, butter salt pepper, simmer for a hour or two depending on size of roast. Then add my veg.
Have no outlet near to plug in my crock pot. I normally sit it on my glass top stove (the cord was long enough on my burned out crock pot/30 years old)....will a regular extension cord suffice...cords on new appliances are all about 8" to short...help !! Thank you.
I used to shoot them for the horns, but they're not that tasty, so now I shoot them for the hide which is a lot more tender! Maybe I'll try the meat, now that I know how to cook it. haha. Have a great day Preacher. Mike.
I do nearly the same thing minus the bacon grease. Will definitely add the bacon grease next time. I may also need to actually go deer hunting again. Been a long time
Mom used to wrap the roasts in bacon, when cooking. Makes sense now, with you adding the bacon grease...🤔 I never was much of an antler hunter... no matter how much you cooked them, they never got tender enough to eat...😂🤣 Give me a nice 4 year old doe, and I'm good.. 👍🇺🇸
I do roasts like this wtih baby carrots and chopped fingerling or small potatoes. I have some backstrap from someone else's harvest I am going to cook this way. Or an oven recipe where you sear the meat in a skillet and then quick bake it in the oven.
@@preachersdayoff OK, thank you for replying. I cooked some fresh kill meat today just as your video explains to. The other said it was good, but I found out I am not a fan of venison. My favorite meat is beef liver and maybe that is why I thought the taste was a little off for me. But still a great video and explanation.
Watched this yesterday and made it today, it was a hit with the family! Super easy and delicious! Thanks very much
Great to hear that Craig!
Love how you cleaned all the silver skin off your roasts. Well done!
Thank you! 😊
"I don't eat bowstrings" I'm dying here lol
Well, its true! LOL
I made this today, only I used onion soup mix plus no-salt seasoning. WOW!!! Awesome!
Glad it turned out well for you!
Hey, nice roast! Looks good. Going to save this one for next month.
Hope you enjoy it!

Hahahaha! Try this one, you'll like it. I hope you fill every tag.
Nice I like it I’m going to try your method on a roast thanks for sharing
Hope you enjoy it Julio!
I remember that ranch trick on previous recipe. Looks great!
It makes a big difference without adding a ranch taste.
Hey preacher, looks great! Is this 9 hrs. On high or low??
Low

WOW smoker first then crock pot. I like the sound of that!
I bet you'll drop a deer before too long

Pickle juice is a great idea. I'll try that next time.
@@preachersdayoff That’s dinner tonight at my house!
Looks tasty! I've heard of summer folks preparing bear roast in a similar fashion.
This combination really does fix a lot of wild game problems

love it and trying it tomorrow with an Elk roast. did you cook on low or high?
Hope you enjoy it!
cooked on low for 10 hours. perfect, shredded and made tacos

Full watched , I like it , keep it up . Full support 😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Made this yesterday but added a packet of aujus, 1 yellow union quartered, carrots and celery. Best ever!
Glad you liked it!
The pot liner works well. Pulled venison looks good and tasty.
They'll a lot of dish water
What’s the name of that product with the peppers? Also what is a good side dish to have with it ?
carrots or potatoes

Add a stick of butter and some pickled peppers.
Howdy Preacher- I ain’t even gonna ask if there’s any left, cause I know the answer lol. Looks really good. God bless y’all
Thanks Paul!
How would I prepare this with potatoes and carrots as well
Add them a few hours before serving
Does a Ranch dips mix work the same?
Yes Ma'am!
Saw this thumbnail and wonder what kitchen conspiracies Alex Jones was about to rant about 😆
HAHAHA that cracked me up!

Moore's always helps!
@@preachersdayoff little goes a long ways 🙂🇺🇸👍
gonna try this one, looks like perfection 💞❤🧡💛💙💙💜🖤💕
Hope you like it!
i made this roast here then made tamales with it holly cow something else!!! thanks bud !! awesome video
Tamales!!! That sounds awesome!
Getting ready to cook this tomorrow 👍
Hope you enjoy

Yes, a regular cord will work fine
@@preachersdayoff Thank you so much, eases my mind. Its deer season here, EVERYONE is eating deer but me...I'll stick to chicken. (wink)

My deer come from crop land, they're already corn fed. Makes a big dif in taste.
Shot my first deer Sunday. My grandpa makes great roast so we'll probably do this soon with some potatoes and carrots. Maybe celery and onions.
That sounds great and congrats on your first deer!
OH, YOU BET I’M GOING TO MAKE THIS !!! AND ITS KETO !!!
And it tastes great too!
Can I throw potatoes and carrots and onions in too ? Thinking of adding a cup of beef stock the last hour or so along with the veggies…
Its your crockpot, you can do whatever you want.
I do nearly the same thing minus the bacon grease. Will definitely add the bacon grease next time. I may also need to actually go deer hunting again. Been a long time
That's too long! Get out there and clear your head, you might even kill a deer.
Thank you for easy recipe 😍
My pleasure 😊
I had a say years ago.. Bone hunters go hungry ha ha.. Good morning my friend the meal looks good.. Thanks for the recipe..
Good morning! I only eat 2 deer a year, might as well hunt for a big one.
Like the tee shirt, and the recipe
Thank you 😋

I wouldn't eat the horns if I could, they make nice souvenirs
@@preachersdayoff I have a couple of those souvenirs 😉
Yum Yum.
Yes sir! I'm going to try to take that ferry ride on the river like y'all did.
That looks really good . Did anyone we know suggest peas and carrots with it ?
I think he's busy stocking up on baby food
Mississippi mud roast is what I’ve called this recipe before. We do the exact same recipe but also add a seasoning packet of “au jus”.
They are all about the same, and they're pretty good too!
Awesome....but I got a few ideas on how tweak it :)
Go ahead, ruin it like that! LOL
High or low temperature?
Low for about 8-10 hours
Did you just add the bacon grease on your own or is it needed.
Its not needed, butter is fine
So inspired! I don’t have the ranch packet, though.
Onion soup mix in a pinch...
good stuff Sir.
Thank you kindly
Medium or low?
Low if you have more time
Another good recipe
Thank you so much
Love the Spurgeon shirt!
Thanks for even knowing who he is in this day and time.

I tried it it was delicious
Thanks for the feed back
Quick question Preacher 8 hours on low I'm assuming? Liners are genius!
Yes, on low
Amazing with deer or pork thanks man
Yes! Glad you like it!
Preach it!!!
Preaching to the choir!
oh yeah tender as heck
It just falls apart!
How about NY roast! It’s all good 🦌 My basic recipe as well 😊
I don't care what you call it, just call me for dinner.
Oml thank you good man
Hope you enjoy it!
Na it's about the peacefulness to me and if your lucky you get to feed the whole family and have fun doing it
To each his own
We're thinking about smoking a deer shoulder
I have a video of that too. I love smoked shoulder!
I'm guessing low heat for that long.
Depends of thickness
👍👍
Thanks
Yummy. Mashed taters and gravy to go with it.
Oh yes!
I make this and put in on the mashed potatoes then put some of the gravy over all of it.
A little salt and pepper would be the last step for me. Yummy!
Oh yes!
Like number 481 btother. God is good. He gave us meat😂🙏🏻🙏🏻
yes sir
Stick of butter & lard 👀
Deer meat is lean!
I do the same but add a pack of Italian dressing seasoning also with some jalapeños and a can of golden mushroom soup. So easy and delicious!
Those are great additions
Charles Spurgeon
Good eye! And theology.
@@preachersdayoff yes! I like Spurgeon
Seeing I don't eat bacon, what can be used in place of that? Anyone here have an idea on that?
A table spoon of Avocado oil could replace the bacon grease.

Low or high
Low for 8hrs or hight for 4-5hrs
See I like it lean with no fat
Too dry and tuff lean
9 hours on low I assume
Thanks about right, until it falls apart
Can you just throw bacon in there? My wife doesn't save the grease.
Sure you could, but it wouldn't get crisp. Maybe a. strip or two and pull them out when its thru cooking.
You lost me at ranch dressing…gross
Good food is not for everyone
