I just got my Bandit VXL yesterday and I love it so much.
i have the vxl , its a very fun car...the stock parts break very fast but after deciding where to put alloy and where to put plastic it ended up being pretty solid.
I had a lot of problems with that stupid vxl even tho I put about $600 in mods on it

I bought my xl5 rustler a week ago and I love it. Yes I'm upgrading to a 2S lipo but since I'm a beginner I'll stick with it for now.

@@corban107 I still have it. Gutted the electrics and went brushless. It's a demon in 3S. Sadly I kept breaking stub axles, and I barely play with my cars anymore.

Damn the XL-5 comes with a 2.4 ghz transmitter now wowww. When I got mine a couple years ago (3-4) it came with this shitty long ass antenna one. Lol

I mean, of course the brushless version is better, but it depends on what what your using it for, if you have a kid getting into the RC world, brushed is much better, and over time you can upgrade the XL5's shocks, driveshafts, and maybe a brushless motor.
It would be cool if you re- did this video when the rustler 4x4 come out... to compare all the versions.

Nice video bro! The one MAJOR upgrade you will end up finding out REALLY quick and replacing are the shock caps.... They WILL pop off if you're bashing, and will keep popping off.... I ended up replacing mine with the Aluminum Traxxsas shock caps and after a few months of bashing and flipping my Rustler, they have yet to pop off! I'm not a huge aluminum guy either, BUT I strongly recommend getting the aluminum shock caps, well worth the money and they do add a nice touch to the car when the body is off. From what I seen when hopping them up, the difference from the stock to the aluminum shock caps are the fit. The aluminum caps are a much tighter fit. I have a video on it as well if you'd like to check it out!! Looking forward to the run videos!

I just got the xl-5 and definitely plan on slowly upgrading. I am on sort of a budget since it is Corona time lol but I'm perfectly fine with that
I just got one too...I was dragging my feet about which one I wanted.... Everyone must be playing with rc's during the Rona break, and every time I decided on which RC I wanted.... Next time I checked the website they would be out of stock.... So I pulled the trigger on a rustler xl-5

Great video . Wish I could have seen them in action . And why I say that is becouse I think that a brushed system is good for certain types of drivers? Like the way I drive kinda aggressive. Vs my son where he likes the power but just to make sure he dos not get stuck ? . I like the brushless power. But I think my boys like the brushed just becouse it got more power than radio shack and Walmart rcs

Personally, I bought the xl-5 because when I upgrade im not putting traxxas esc and motor in it. So why pay more just to change out all the. Its you're paying extra for?
Is there any point in buying rtr? wouldn't it be better just to buy all the rpm stuff available and then the Traxxas chassis and other parts that are left and pu them all together?

i got the vxl but i cant install the optional gearing because they put the pinion so tight on the motor i cant get it off. it either just to hard or stripes the allen key
Vxl is better it's a bit more money but the motor doesn't burn out and you can get a better battery and go super fast
_RC_KING_ or you could upgrade the xl-5 like I did to my 2wd slash after I went through two of the titan 550s
Anthony Dwyer the xl5 has brass bushings vs bearings plastic camber links vs aluminum but most of this stuff is meant to be upgraded

I’m rewatching this video because I sold my xl5 rustler for $160 n was letting my friend pay half n half so he paid me $80 then his moms neighbor gives him a vxl rustler,so I was thinking ok I’m gonna be getting mine back n gotta give the $80 back, but he just gave me the vxl for the $80 he owed, so now I have the vxl n only cost me $80👍👍watching this to see the difference between the two

Hi Kev, I was wondering if you could inform me about lipo batteries. I have NEVER used a lipo battery because i would like to not burn my house down. I am going to buy a Traxxas rustler xl5 and want to get some more runtime out of it so I was going to buy the Traxxas 5000mah 2s lipo, I already have a Traxxas stampede 4x4 and Skully and I also have a traxxas ez peak plus charger. So if you could inform me about lipo batteries and what to and what not to do, I would greatly appreciate it. Have a great day and keep on BASHING 😁
Don't ever have lipos in your house and especially not when fully charged or charging

I have the brushed rustler and I just bought a slash 4x4 and I have a 3s lipo for it. What do you recommend to upgrade my rustler to brushless
Donny_58 vlogs I have a (1410) 2800kv motor from Castle Creations for my Rustler this thing can handle anything having to do with bashing. Now if you want it more for speed runs then it'll get you up to around 65 mph with the proper setup. Now if you want to go beyond that put a 2200kv motor and you'll have yourself a race car

I'd say get a brushed traxxas if you can find a good deal and then upgrade to a brushless motor later, if you can't find one for a good price then get the brushless because you will want to have a brushless motor after for sure once you get the hang of driving it. You have to figure a good brushless motor set up is around 125$ so it's worth it sometimes to just spend the extra money and get the vxl. I got lucky and found a Slash 2wd brushed traxxas for 160$ at my local hobby store and I had to get it, it's the first RC I've ever owned and I figured for that price I can upgrade to a brushless system and it will still be cheaper than if I bought a brushless.
Just what exactly do you do with the nimh batteries you don't use ? .what exactly do you do with the stock controllers you get and don't use ? Questions?

Donkey Commander what are mips please? I've just won a Rustler vxl on e-bay, and it's been upgraded with rpm parts, I'm a newbie to RC, so trying to learn as much as possible about the hobby. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Matty
@@scattymatty7662 sorry for the super late reply lol. Mip cvds are metal driveshafts, since the stock plastic ones break alot. They are pricey so i did end up buying the gpm shafts that Kevin bought for his rustler. They're 30 bucks on ebay and they've held up well. Maybe try one of those unless you already bought some 3 years later 😂😂😂
