I couldn't be more thrilled that this book series is finally being put to film. It is highly deserving. Boreing said in the all access live video that they're trying to help the author get the books republished, which would be incredible. It is one of the best series of the past half century.

What I hope is that the show can lead to the publishing of the prequel- Aurelia - that Lawhead announced he had recently completed (like 2 years ago) but hadn’t found a publisher for yet.

I am literally so excited for this show. The production team and actors are doing great.
SHOWING all the work you’re putting into the show is a great way of saving off the critics saying that it’ll be a “cheap looking” show. No one can deny the quality that’s at work here when you SEE the set building, stuntman performing, the lengths you went to for the bullfight, and so forth.
When the first couple production diary videos came out, I wasn’t expecting much but a cheap show either, and didn’t bother watching them. Now that I’ve been watching them, I am so eager for this show to air!!
Except it all looks really cheap.

Finally an Arthurian series that looks good! Was so disappointed when Hollywood adapted Bernard Cornwell's Winter King trilogy and deliberately made Merlin black 😮💨 I hope this is faithful to the books ❤❤

I would pay to say the first episode or two in theaters. I have a DW+, but it'd be nice to see it reach broader numbers and make more money. I also love seeing these BTS videos. Reminds me of the LOTR appendices.

Arthurian folklore predates LOR by several centuries. The book this is based on may be newish but the characters are ancient to Britain and Cornwall .
This simply looks like a high school student web series with a bigger budget. Every single NYU grad could come up with something better than this even.

Lawhead's Pendragon Cycle often had a particular eccentric personality, the Merlin book especially was a trip! I hope the adaptation won't be too dry: a bit of otherworldly strangeness and dark humour goes a long way to elevate such a show.
As does the soundtrack. Any news what kind of score it'll have? Game of Thrones was enhanced by its music not being derivative, it was dynamic & reactive...really helps pulls the audience into the drama.
agreed! when I pick up a Lawhead book, I KNOW there's going to be a special otherworld feel. It happened in Song of Albion and in Pendragon. My first exposure was of course In The Dragon King books. Lawhead is an amazing talented writer. Should get the guys who composed for the books to do something. They captured that otherworld feel!

I'm debating between watching the show first and just enjoying it for what it is or jumping on the bandwagon and reading the book before the series gets put out. Either way, I'm so excited!
ETA: Somehow I was the 1000th like, so I got to see the number go from 999 to 1K. That was pretty cool.
I say read the books if you can get ahold of a copy and have the time time - it's well worth it!
You should probably just watch the show because if you read the books you will be disappointed because books are almost always better. A lot of times when movie is better it is like a completely different thing and they only used the title of the book and that is it.
@nicoleackerman205 You're not wrong about books being better than movies. That's actually why I recommend reading the books first - it's the superior experience, and the movies can ruin the books by taking away the suspense and the place of your imagination in building the landscapes and characters in a way that is personal to you as your read. That said, if you want to maximize your enjoyment of the films/show, probably you should watch it first.

Screw it, even the Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, maybe thatll put a fire under his ass to finally finish the 3rd book. So are they adapting the first two books of the series in season one? Because I'm currently reading the Pendragon Cycle and am on book two. It's quite clear that the events of the first book only make up part of season one. The characters of Merlin, Ganieda, Uther, and Ygerna don't show up until the second novel.

Why? She publicly and openly verbally went after her boss. That's not the behavior of a religious person living a moral life, much less acceptable employee behavior. If she had an issue with the company, you raise that in public, and if it isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you simply leave the company. She tried doing what Crowder did, and got the same treatment, and like many of her followers said, she's better off going solo. That being said, there was also bad steps taken by another in the company, in trying to have a very public fight that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the company or its projects. I simply don't know why people are blaming the company for a personal disagreement between two individuals. Unless the intention is to purposefully smear and destroy the company, which I'm more inclined to believe since some internet celebrities and their followers can't handle criticism from the company's hosts, and a childish "if you aren't 100% with me on all topics, you are the enemy" mentality. DW had 6 commentators on staff. They are not a big company. They don't have any license with the FCC or monopolistic power over media. If one of they're employees starts to send messages that goes against their bottom line as a company, they are under no legal or moral obligation to continue to employ that person. Candace has been courting antisemites online with words designed to create ambiguity around her intentions. Once enough was enough, DW let her go. I see no wrong in they're doing so.

Is it just me or does anyone find it kinda weird how the daily wire are essentially showing us the entire show and explaining everything that happens before any of the episodes have aired? This is the kind of stuff you release after each episode has aired. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but normally you want to keep your audience in the dark about the stuff you're doing until the show releases.
The series being adapted is only well known to those that already read it and they need that core audience to champion it as they cannot put more than a few million dollars promoting it. This is why they did it. Apart of showing that this was going to be the highest quality and budget production DW+ has done yet by far. I mean, It is of higher budget and quality that any of the movies they bought, not just the ones they actually produced. Only way to convey this enough is doing this BTS series. In fact, apart of The Pendragon Cycle series, only Atlas Shrugged will have this same level of production. From what has been rumored, the next two movies are still clever low budget indie fare. But we will know for sure within a month or so. As TPC gets an actual start date and they start teasing what is left to come for 2024.

Really hate the costume design. It’s literally just fantasy. They talk about the “history” but made no effort other than watching history channel’s “Vikings” and “last kingdom.” Everything plot related just looks cringe.
It is a fantasy show. Vikings and the Last Kingdom were two shows that were very well received. If this series comes anywhere near the quality of these two shows, that would be a success.
@@rpgadventurer32 oh come on... I know it’s not a history show. But they bring up the history every time they talk about it. The setting is based in real history unlike something like GOT. Vikings and last kingdom had some issues (especially the longer they lasted) which this just looks to be copycatting. If the aesthetic is this lazy then I’m not expecting much from the narrative they created.
