this reminds me how films used to be made before it was just pure greenscreens in a studio. movies like the princess bride, braveheart, willow, and lord of the rings were all shot on location and looked really good and were shot at a quarter of the budget that big CGI movies have these days.

@@megclif not to mention cheaper and the writers have to script their movies better cause they can't just fix it in post.
Yeah, there IS a time and a place for digital effects but ONLY when financially and technically necessary.
One might wonder why do they do so much CGI when it is more expensive and does not look nearly as good as the real thing you can see e.g. in Lord of the rings.
@@juhanikuronen6944 you can fix things in post. Less stress on sets. Less ownership for directors. You can fix bad writing or scenes that didn't turn out. You can make things look really cool after the fact and don't have to know exactly what a monster will look like. Less moving parts on set. There are benefits. Like Pandora doesn't exist and you can show a really cool world with CGI in a movie like avatar. But compare the hobbit movies to the Lord of the rings. The Hobbit sucked and looked awful. The Lord of the rings will look good for years to come.
Real sets! Real horses! Real stunts! Dirt! Grime! Mud! Blood! Battles! Celts! Saxxons!

It would be nice if any of it looked remotely real instead of some silly fantasy set. It's going to be impossible to take it seriously.
liberalism is built upon two ideas: maximum freedom and maximum equality. Both of these ideas are erroneous because human behavior has to be restricted for the greater good therefore negating maximum freedom. Maximum equality is not possible due to differences in knowledge which establishes hierarchy. Wow! Week 1 diary was really good. But this one is over-the-top exceeding expectations. The production quality revealed by these shots is amazing! I'm now officially very excited for this. Thanks for hiring some actors who are unique-looking and look really good all messed up in medieval badassery!
I just wrote in my comment how this video is on another level compared to the first one - this looks much better than ROP or WOT in terms of production quality. The battles, props and even the overall attention to detail is very good from what we can see in this video. The production seems to be of high quality.
@@rpgadventurer32 Even the corpses look high-quality! Makeup, costumes, structures, etc. are all closer to Jackson's LOTR than Amazon's ROP.
@@VigilantErik Yea, or other epic historical movies. Just imagine if they have managed to match GOT, just in terms of pure production quality. They also hired award winning people from within the industry to head some of their departments as you can verify yourself from this video.
Don’t worry Jeremey Boering is directing…guy directed nothing so I’m sure it’ll be great even though it looks mid-tier at best 👍

As a family we have read ALL of the Pendragon Cycle and kept wishing that someone would do a movie of them! We are beyond excited to see this happen and can't wait til we see Charis, Taliesen and Uther! If only we could participate...that would thrill us even more!

I am soooo excited! This series was my mom's favorite book series, and after she passed away, I dove into it, and now it's one of my favorites, too. She would have been absolutely THRILLED to see it made into a TV series.

This looks amazing!! The quality looks like it's going to be fantastic! I love the dedication of the actors rolling around in mud. Hey, if it fits it fits, and it most definitely does in battle where there aren't concerns with getting wet or muddy. Glad that it's being filmed as is with no greenscreens, etc

Yea, I'm seriously surprised. What is their production budget? because this video seems to suggest it's at least tens of millions of dollars, at least! This is really high quality in terms of the scope of the battles, the props, the raw and lived in attention to details here.

I read these books shortly after they came out and loved them. I just ordered a set of the novels so my family can read them before the show comes out. I also read The Dragon King Trilogy and the Song of Albion trilogy as a young man. Any of these would be great on film if produced correctly. Lawhead is a master story teller. I just hope DW can do them justice.
I really liked The Dragon King Trilogy. That series introduced me to Lawhead.

Wow all of this looks so cool. Can't wait to see it. Everything looks book accurate and the battles looks really dramatic and brutal without lapsing into the tripe that is George R.R. So far, without seeing anything from post, this looks like the show Vikings quality and I mean that as a compliment. This looks well done and that care was taken to get it right. I am excited.

Yea, this is certainly not cheap. Even if they're doing their best to reduce expanses, the scope that we are seeing in this video seems to suggest tens of millions of dollars of expanses at least for this first season. There are plenty of battles shown here, big battles with many horses, perhaps hundreds of extras, many sets and props. It can't be anything but a very costly production.
Great start to something worth watching.
There's more action in this video log than the entire season of Rings of Power.

I read the Pendragon Cycle growing up. I loved it. What I'm seeing so far is great, seems you're trying to be faithful to the source material. Lawhead finds a great balance of being historically accurate, with a dash of fantasy. His Gwenhyvar is one of my favorite fictional characters. She doesn't need a man, but neither is she hanging on his every word and uber submissive.
Merlin's journey in the books of finding balance between his talents as a druid and his faith as a Christian was presented in a way that wasn't preaching but was frank about the differences. The books made a great story of heroism, courage, and doing right even when it wasn't practical without turning into a dudebro testosterone fest. So far, the bits I'm seeing are capturing that. Keep it up.
Its cool to learn about Viking culture once in a while.

Yes, the first book (which is what they're currently covering in these episodes) is called Taliesin by Stephen Lawhead. Basically backstory for Merlin.
I'm so happy for DailyWire's success, keep it up guys. It's sad that everything in today's media became so politicized (even children's shows!); thankfully we have you to produce amazing series that don't have any ideological garbage in it.
