    I like that you take the time to go to these out-of-the-way places that most people would probably overlook, they're like hidden gems and full of history.

    New-Zealand was a Major Military Base for the US Forces during WW2, The US Army based in Auckland, US Navy in Wellington and the US Airforce in Christchurch. NZ was also the main supplier of foods for the US Pacific war, this is what made Watties Canned foodstuffs the size it was to become, now of course Heinz-Wattie. Also the Horticultural industries suppling the various Suppliers, Watties being the largest.

      I was told that since England wouldn’t send back any Kiwi men to defend NZ the USA sent soldiers.

      @@SailorJames this was a very good video, as I watch your videos I feel there were more people before than now in pacific. Even in the 1800s, industry was there. Now just ruins of the past.

    That's an interesting place James. There's an inner city district of Dublin called Stoneybatter. I wonder if that's where the name comes from?

    • @SailorJames
      @SailorJames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many of the places names here are English so very likely this place was named after the one you mentioned

    We call this the bottom end of Waiheke a great cruising ground and very popular in Summer but really its good all year around certainly one of my favourite weekend destinations. Great exploring, fishing, swimming, lots of sheltered anchorages for every angle and strength of wind also a great jump off spot for the Coromandel's and Great Barrier island.

      I found Man-O-War to be a wonderful anchorage and would for sure visit often if I lived here

    The Airforce base still exists in Christchurch to this day, as a gateway and supplier to Antarctica.

    Just a friendly suggestion. Slow down your panning shots a bit especially when there's interesting stuff to see.

    Idk I think your filming work well this way because it was blurring and then refocusing…. A bit disorienting-- like I am sure it was because of dark and using flashlights. The man was really kinda going on through the tour right.
    I think you gave the true story
