Well done for posting images that are more representative of the actual human experience, rather than massively overprocessed, blow-your-eyes out stuff that's so common these days. Great to see so many people out. Let's hope they start fighting against light pollution en masse!

Lovely series of shots Stephen. Back in May I found a good spot that no one else had, so, I went back there last night and WOW, I did not need to leave the car, just set up next to it and started taking shots. A couple drove by and straight away parked up, hahahaha, the fella came over and asked if I was capturing the aurora, of course I told him yes, and when he saw what I had in the VF the sigh of relief he gave was hilarious. I asked him if he had been out long, in a nutshell every other popular place they went to was rammed. They had given up and were on there way home and just happened to drive past and see me. Sorted. He went home a happy puppy once I told him what settings to use and from what I can make out he was well chuffed as much as I was. Happy days mate, and may there be more, many many more. :-) Keep up the great work.

Too much light pollution and cloud, where I live, so didn't see a thing 😢 Sent your video to my niece, who lives at Dolphinholme....she sent back some fabulous pics, she'd taken.
@starman1969 Never really thought about it, so looked it up... Long established, the first settlement of the area is believed to originate with the arrival of Scandinavians to the British Isles around the early Middle Ages. This is evident through Dolphinholme’s unusual name, most likely derived from an individual settler named ‘Dolgfinrr’ and ‘holm’, the Scandinavian meaning for island.
It's good shots but indication is dangerous as radiation at 20 miles up and should be in north Greenland the fact all over the world says we may be in trouble
I couldn't see anything but I was imagining and had to discard a number of subs because of the strong pinkish colour casts. I think I must be going colour blind because thats twice this year Ive been looking at the aurura and couldn't see anything other than what looked like some thin greyish high level cloud. Some beautiful images there mate anyway, especially the last one.
The fact that you can see this so far south is because we have been hit by a CME and our Em feild is currently failing. Both of these should be cause for concern (see Carrington event) not celebration. Another event such as this would end our civilization in an instant.
@@starman1969 Indeed! There is absolutely nothing anyone can do, I just find it weird that everyone is enjoying the light show not knowing what is really going on.
This is very concerning.. the fact so many countries got to see this again shows how weak the earth's magnetosphere is, due to the ongoing magnetic reversal. It is an extinction event
Its not concerning. The Cause of the Aurora Borealis was a strong geomagnetic storm which was caused by a solar storm, which contained high density plasma fields that hit the earth. The Solar Cycle is currently on its maximum. We were lucky to be able to experience it because there where other solar flares launched before and this CME on its way to earth picked up a lot from the other ones launched before. Also the Speed at which this CME was launched allowed it to catch up with the other partially directed CME and push it more towards earth. Because it stacked up, it was expected that it will be a stronger geomagnetic storm. The same things have been happening for as old as the planet is and depending of the strength of the solar storms sometimes earth got a stronger geomagnetic storm and sometimes a weaker one.
@morducal2203 incorrect. It's, in fact, very concerning as the northern and southern lights should not be seen at the equatorial regions. It's due to the earth's weakening magnetosphere as we're in the midst of a magnetic reversal.
@@what-lies-in-your-skies The so called magnetic reversal is overdramatised a lot. There are regular shifts but saying its an extinction event is simply not true. You can have your opinion and believe in what you believe but fact is that these stronger polar lights where caused by the CME. Its sad to see that there are many conspiracy theories going around and i hope there will be stricter policies in the future that will help to prevent it. You cant say that i am incorrect because all data on the recent cmes is available. If you would spend a little time searching up the events that led to this event and you would try to understand, then you would see that it had nothing to do with a so called "extinction event"
@@what-lies-in-your-skies Also the UK is not near the equator line. The Polar lights havent been visible near the equator line. For worldwide polar lights a carrington event, even a stronger one, would need to happen.
