Welcome to my channel dedicated to astronomy & photography of the night. I do my best to give hints & tips on photographing the night sky, how to plan Milky Way landscapes, spectacular moonrises & moonsets + anything else loosely related to the subject. I also do reviews on some of the gear that I use.
The Planets are Lining Up

I photograph Saturn as the rings begin to close
มุมมอง 4.1K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
I attempt to photograph the planet Saturn as the rings begin to close up. In March 2025, the rings will be edge on as viewed from earth, meaning that due to their slim depth they may not be visible at all. The Great Planet Show
มุมมอง 1.6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
It's December 2024 and currently there are 4 naked eye planets visible at the same time. From east to west Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus can be viewed at the same time into February 2025, albeit their positions will change as time goes on. Why not head outside and see how many you can spot.

Glastonbury Tor Midnight Star Trail
มุมมอง 1.5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I visited Glastonbury Tor in Somerset to see if I could capture a star trail image over the famous ruins on top of the Tor. It was my very first visit to Glastonbury, and I arrived quite late & had to make the trip up in the dark without a practice run in daylight, which I would normally strongly advise!

Glad you enjoyed it
Hello Steve the univers is electric xx
Cloudy Sunday night but on Saturday I was sat on a rock on the beach at dusk and Venus,Jupiter ,Mars and Saturn came out in that order then I got my monocular out of my pocket and plucked Uranus out too.Didn't bother trying for Neptune in my Bortle 6 area.Looking at my feet the Earth too and only Mercury missing!
Awesome video Stephen. Please get the planetary I would appreciate it xx ❤
Hi i have just bought this tracker and in used to polar alignment with a ball Head rather than a wedge. I noticed you also align with a ball head, has this been east for you?
Hi. I usually align with a geared head because it's more precise than using a ball head. I use the ball head for the camera when it's on the tracker.
Brilliant live as always with a great set of people, thanks Stephen, cheers.
hello there!thanks to this video and helpful planetary info,i learned a lot this week! i used it today on a hill, where we could see and take pics of the planets,me teaching where and which planets they were! thanks a lot!
Glad it helped!
Thanks Stephen great stream as usual
Glad you enjoyed it Paul
My 9 year old is loving astronomy! This is so great. Can u recommend a good starter telescope for him? Thanks :) & thanks for the video content! Great stuff! :)
Great stuff. There are so many telescopes that it's hard to recommend one, but a good starter telescope would be an 80mm refractor on an alt-az goto mount, if your budget can stretch so far.
i appreciate ur hard work sir..thank you so much..this helped me understand the planets better in our sky😊😃 -from India
You're most welcome sir.
Thank you friend
The Conjunction of the Million Spheres is upon us. At last. Home to Melnibone.
Thank you sir for the wonderful video...❤🌟
That's awesome ! WOWOWOW! Great information New subscriber here...thank you! Shared you too!
Wow Stephen that wind is blowing hard I really hear it. You need to do a little setup in your van with a little desk & little comfortable couch so when you can’t get out of the van you can be comfortable while your waiting 😊
Ok, planets lining up etc.. now what?
EXCELLENT
I’m in Los Angeles..we are smoked out!😖
I need to know what frequency to put my walkie talkie on for this kinda knowledge
Nice one mate . It’s my birthday 0n Saturday so I’m well chuffed the planets are aligning for me 😎👍👍
I couldn't get it right many satellite 📡🛰️ around
When the positions or angle that Earth could view Mercury and Venus? Because, according to SOLAR SYATEM, Mercury and Venus pathway always at daytime view from earth! Simulations would be GREAT help to know when human could be able to see these planets.
Thanks for sharing. I’m a new subbie and looking forward to seeing more.❤❤❤❤ You made me laugh 😂 😂😂😂
Welcome!!
Beautifully video I really loved it thank you so much your video like from pakistan my name is Shahzad . .
That you!
That was awesome. Thank you, and much love from Texas. ✨💖🕊️💖✨
Great stuff. I went to Texas in April last year to see the total eclipse of the sun.
Jupiter aligns with Mars on Aug 14………..Tis the age of Aquarius 👍
Also if you’re lucky u might see starman dogging Hunting chocolate starfish at your local park on a clear sky night.
I just found you by chance, really interesting. Thank you
Glad you found me. Look forward to more content this year!
Very interesting, thank you. Subscribed.
Thanks very much.
Your description of the constellation such as Jupiter in Taurus, Mars in Gemini matches exactly with our astrological charts. As per our astrological charts Sun is in Capricorn, Saturn and Venus are in Aquarius, Mercury in Sagittarius.
Thanks for letting me know.
1:01 “north east, that planet is Mars. “ But, it is not red in colour. In my place, yesterday 20th January, I saw red Mars with naked eyes. I am in India, Kerala state. Today 21st January, they say that the 6 planets will be closer still. If the sky is clear I may be able to see them. But my binoculars is not in very good condition.
Have you noticed Orion rising on his back setting on his front!!!!
And the moon is rising wax setting wane, why do I never hear anyone mention it??
Good spot.
This was helpful thank you
Glad you found it helpful.
Scientists are changing the name of uranus to stop all the childish jokes they're calling it urectum instead. Did you know you know you can fit 63 earth's inside uranus 64 if you relax. You can consider all jokes about uranus behind you

Another interesting video Stephen, was great to see the night sky. In the village i am , there is not too much light polution, so sometimes the night sky is amazing 😊
Thanks Carol 🙏
Can't believe you've never taken a photo of Uranus?!!! 😂😁👍
Michael jackson lyrics another part of me. "We're sendin' out a major love And this is our message to you (message to you) The planets are linin' up We're bringin' brighter days They're all in line waitin' for you Can't you see? You're just another part of me" WAKE UP! ❤
Hi Stephen, great review of the planets and some nice photos. I've had some clear skies this last week and had a good view of the planets. I have the same problem with aircraft as I live about half a mile from Hawarden airport so the planes often pass right over my house, I'm only about twenty miles as the crow flies from Liverpool airport so planes from there also often pass over my house too. It's amazing how many aircraft trails there are.
Thanks Kevin.
Hopefully all this cloud will disappear Stephen, thanks for the information I will be looking 😊
