    I love love love how detailed you are. I'm a Construction Manager in Civil Engineering along with few other licenses that are all about DETAILS and breaking down many if not all aspects of life to better understand and for me inner peace with the external world. I will continue listening to your shares, awesome finding you.

      Thanks so much! I agree; it's all about the details. There are just so many things happening in a piece of music, and each little tiny piece that is wrong takes away from the end result. It's so much easier to get it wrong than to get it right. (An example is how bad one out of tune string player can make a group sound.) I can't get them all, but getting as many of those details right as I can makes a huge difference. I was able to go to a sound mixing workshop with a sound engineer who has been nominated for two grammy awards, and I noticed how so much of what he does is just a series of very, very small tweaks.

    Another great 'making of'. These are all very enjoyable and informative. Although I don't have the instruments you do (just a Korg monologue xd), I'm finding your work inspiring. Thanks!

      Thanks for your kind comments! I was pretty apprehensive about releasing these videos, in fact, this first one I originally didn't make public. I'm so glad when they find the right musicians. Have fun with the Monologue xd. There is a lot of fun to be found in every synthesizer.

    • @TaurusTarkus

      (I missed this comment before.) Yes! The original was done on a DX7, which I used to have. The little bit before that is from Awaken, which is one of my favorite works by Yes. As a teenager, I was able to help tear down the Yes stage the night before the 90125 tour started. (I saw Trevor Rabin and Alan White walk through but didn't meet them.) I then saw them kick off the huge tour at nearby Millersville University the next evening (my first real concert) and saw them later on the tour at Hershey, PA.

      Managing time and prioritizing can be a challenge, especially when programming sounds and learning music can take so long. Sometimes it feels like we are just spinning our wheels. When you say mentor, you mean as an influence? Did you ever meet him? I wish I had had the chance. Keith Emerson is probably an even bigger influence for me, and I have done a half dozen covers of his music as well. I think about doing more, but they don't tend to be very popular.

    i have a sound electrical engineering background in voice frequency multiplexing and modulation / but after working on my synth i'm getting it a lot faster! love hearing about the old analog synths they were amazing do you ever play out or do sound tracks for movies or TV?

    • @TaurusTarkus
      @TaurusTarkus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I certainly love talking about the old analog synths! You can see some rare instruments toward the end of my new Korea and Japan video. -- I used to play out a lot, in fact I never got into recording until more recently because I was so focused on playing live. You can see a video of my last band, Chasing Legends, if you go back to my very first video. I'm working on a new video cover with them. I got very tired of playing out... the challenges of keeping a band together, the damage to my hearing (I recently starting using hearing aids), finding good gigs, never having a great mix, etc... I'm so much happier making videos for TH-cam. For most of my life, if you asked me about my dream job, I would have said that it was to compose soundtracks, but I have made a career of teaching (technology). Perhaps when I retire?

      @@TaurusTarkus I started out babysitting to pay for jazz drumming lessons at 8-10 years old started a band at 12 playing high-school gigs, but got burned out playing mind numbing simple Rick/pop songs and went to college at 16-18, my dream was to be an engineer/ scientist but always have been the singing around the campfire crowd learning to read, write and sing from sheet music was the best thing I ever learned, OK dating myself! When dos first came out got into adding sounds and music to wire frame games on a IBM PC jr! Lol once spent $800 on a sound card with midi i/o

    • @TaurusTarkus
      @TaurusTarkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rock bands can get boring for good drummers and keyboardists. At least drummers get to hear themselves in the mix! It's amazing how technology has progressed... and how keyboards have gotten better regarding prices. They were way too expensive for most people years ago.

    Excellent! You really max out your Rev2. Some harp bits sounded like Yes - but which song?

    • @TaurusTarkus
      @TaurusTarkus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I had the Prophet '08 before the Rev2 came out, and so I have programmed a great many patches on it over the years. I should put together a pack to sell, as most of my favorites are my own. I play a little of two Yes songs on the Harp: The first is from Awaken (Going For the One), which is possibly my favorite Yes piece ever. It really takes us on a journey to a magical place. The second is from Changes (90125), which is also an amazing album, though very different. That was the era when I discovered Yes, and I was lucky to see them several times with that lineup.
