  • I've been very pleased that this video has resonated with so many people! I was just thinking that when I first released it... I was excited to see what people would think, and within an hour two people gave it a 'thumbs down'! Fortunately, most people since then have enjoyed it. Many thanks for your comments.
My dilemma was whether or not to attempt to add sound effects, which are such a prominent part of the original. In the end, I think they enhance the piece and get it slightly closer to the Blade Runner world. I'm using white noise/wind and two other sounds from the Prophet Rev2 units, and the Yamaha Montage also has some interesting sound effects, which I layered in when certain notes are played.

You're absolutely right about the soundtrack value. Unfortunately, Denis Villeneuve didn't get that when he directed the sequel... and that's why that movie is nothing but a faded shadow of the original version.... and now it's too late to fix that on the coming sequel.

It's very rare in this day and age to meet people that appreciate the beauty of the masterwork by Vangelis. The score for Blade Runner may have been one of his best works. This is an awesome cover of this song. I like it as much as the original, and that's rare for me. Luego memories of blue y of white la igualaron en mi preferencia pasando a ser el tríptico que completó mi descubrimiento dimensional de este tipo de obras que abren puertas a nuevos sentidos sutiles y maravillosamente pacificantes del alma. ive been a Vangelis fan for 35 years and listened to the original thousands of times over the years. Usually Vangelis covers are always a little way off, no doubting their talent. This rendition however is spot on for me. The master would have played it like that live himself. Nice job 😀

Of all of the cover versions of this musical masterpiece that I have heard and there are some very good ones, this is as close to the original as you are going to get. Not just because all of the sounds are there but because the tempo is spot on. The artist is just a very very good keyboard player, up there with Emerson.

Wow. So impressed and so well played. I literally grew up with Vangelis's music. I remember staying up late just so i could watch Cosmos and even then being captivated by it's soundtrack. My older brother had the Heaven and Hell album and i would frequently play it. I was hooked from that day on. Loved watching you play that piece, Memories of Green.

Thanks! As with my other Vangelis covers, I went through it very slowly to try to get the notes right. For this one I had a transcription to start with, but they usually have mistakes. For something like Blade Runner Blues, I had nothing to work with, and that one is quite long.

Like many other people, I discovered Vangelis via Chariots of Fire and later his amazing work with Jon Anderson. I listened to that music a lot in high school, and as a keyboardist, I felt like Vangelis was performing a work of magic. How did he ever get his keyboards to sound so organic and musical? My parents did not take me to rated R movies, and so I did get to see Blade Runner for a while, even though I was a big fan of Harrison Ford. When I did see it, I think it went over my head a bit. Perhaps I was so blown away by the music that I couldn't focus on and appreciate the depth of the themes of the film until later. Blade Runner is my favorite work/score/album by Vangelis, and happily TH-cam allows me to share my love of the music with those of you who appreciate it.
