Mace Windu, a Force-sensitive human male, was a revered Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. During his time in the Jedi Order, he once served as elected leader of the Jedi and, during the Clone Wars, as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic. He was the greatest champion of the Jedi Order and promoted its ancient traditions amidst the growing influence of the dark side of the Force in the corrupt, declining days of the Republic.
When the Separatist Crisis spawned the birth of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and sparked the Clone Wars, Windu and the Jedi rallied to the defense of the Republic and became the leaders of the Grand Army of the Republic. Throughout the war, Windu served the Jedi and the Republic in various capacities-on the battlefield in command of the clone army, on Coruscant as an overseer of the war effort and an advisor to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, and even as a diplomat to contested worlds, despite his disdain of politics. His exploits on the frontline served as a reminder of his reputation as a renowned Jedi warrior.
As the war drew to a close, Windu became increasingly suspicious of the chancellor's motives, as Palpatine had amassed near-dictatorial control over the Galactic Senate, and sensed the rising power of the dark side in the galaxy. His suspicions were confirmed when Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight and the Chosen One of ancient prophecy, discovered that Palpatine was Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith who manipulated the Republic and the Separatist Alliance into war. Windu, along with Jedi Masters Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tiin, confronted Palpatine with the intention of arresting him. Instead, the Dark Lord attacked them, striking them down one by one until only Windu was left. Windu bested Palpatine in the confrontation and-deciding the chancellor was too dangerous to be left alive due to his influence over the government-prepared to strike him down, but the intervention of Anakin Skywalker, who saved the chancellor's life, led to Windu's death. As a result, Skywalker fell to the temptation of the dark side and was renamed Darth Vader.
Windu's actions led Palpatine to brand the Jedi as traitors to the Republic. The chancellor executed Order 66 and clone troopers across the galaxy turned against and killed their Jedi leaders, marking the fall of the Jedi Order. Palpatine transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire and the Emperor's new regime promoted anti-Jedi sentiment across the galaxy. Through propaganda, the Empire portrayed Windu as the leader of a criminal gang of Jedi who caused the outbreak of the Clone Wars. In spite of the propaganda, some of Windu's actions were remembered with fondness; General Cham Syndulla, who served alongside Windu during the Battle of Ryloth, remembered Windu with great respect and told the tale of how Windu helped him liberate Ryloth during the war

@5:24 , Palpatine realises Windu has somewhat unique style and mastery of skills that he wasn’t familiar with. Knowing Palps he had studied Jedi and their skills throughout, but this time even the mighty Sidious was surprised that someone was able to channel his darker side the way Mace was.
Must’ve been a humbling experience.
He would actually say in his personal logs that Luke finds, that he didn't see Windu as a potential threat and was momentarily panicked when he realized he could not defeat Windu.

Having Windu as a master probably could have allowed Anakin to be able to channel his anger without losing himself to it. Plus them having that closer bond probably would have made it harder for Anakin to decide to cut off his arm when he was about to kill Palpatine.

They were natural warriors!

Mace windu walks the path of good right beside the dark the fact that he was turned by the lightning and he stopped it with his lightsaber is one of the greatest feat I know of in star wars

Mastering the light and being in control of the dark... this is how the all the jedi should have been.
Mace should have the Grandmaster of the Order rather than Yoda. Under his leadership, the Order may have been able recognize and more effectively combat Siddious’s diabolical schem.
This ain't the part 2 video but dedicating a whole video to the most powerful Jedi of his time(in Canon).

Overall, you did a pretty good job. Mace is one of my favorite characters in the universe, and he doesn't really get much love.
Downplay of Mace win against Sidious is wild. Sith Lords have always been experts in either Sorcery/Alchemy or Dueling. Sidious was great in Dueling but probably due to him being under Plaguies his specialty was more Sorcery based. Mace being a better duelist shouldn't surprise anyone. Along with his fighting style of shatter point and Vaapad.
I always thought Vapaad fed off the dark side energies of the person you were fighting against which is why it was so deadly against Sidious.

I have been studying Juyo and Vaapad for a long time. Reading every source and Mace Windu as well. Job well down!!!
One point that is overlooked is that the Jedi Order required a Jedi to outright master forms 1-6 and all of the stance and kata variants if they wished to learn Juyo. Then they needed unanimous permission from the Council, then finally permission of the Grandmaster.
This is why so few Jedi learn the form and why Anakin was denied multiple times.

Dooku is one of the greatest swordsman of his time and has beaten Yoda in a CANON comic called the mission to Tatooine, this puts Dooku slightly above Palpatine in Duelling

Actually he does use Shatterpoint once in the Clone Wars series. They show it when he uses it to break some glass to free a clonetrooper. That was Shatterpoint that he was using when he did that. Its shows weakpoints in things or even living beings.
TCW is canon to legends, and in legends he is using shatter point there. In the current canon, that scene is not shatter point

It'd be dope to see Mace Windu brought back to the screen with a different angle. Given that Mace is a master of Vaapad, which breaches the Dark Side of the Living Force, he can potentially return postured as an antihero or antivillain.

Dooku was evidentally holding back. Did you notice that in their fight dooku didn’t use force lightning? Because if you watch the 3d clone wars you would know that at the slightest intervention of electricity Anakin is out of the fight even a bounty hunter with no connection to the force beat anakin with normal electricity. And he was equal to Obi wan. In their fight on mustafar they force push each other and the power was equal sending tham both flying.

By the time he died which was in his 50's Mace Windu mastered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat. He also had shatterpoint. And HE BEAT SIDIOUS FAIR AND SQUARE he was the better duelist.
In canon yes. In legends there is a lot more context to that fight, and it’s left somewhat ambiguous
In canon he dasn’t have shatterpoint or at least wasn’t confirmed to have it but the rest i agree with

In EU, he's in the general ball park of RotS Yoda, RotS Sidious, and post-Invisible Hand Anakin/pre suit Vader. Other sources also place him having similar power levels to Yoda and Sidious at that time. And yes, Windu did beat Sidious fair and square, if you examine every statement and feat. Parts of the novel were not considered greater canon than the movie, which included the novel's depiction of the Mace/Sidious duel. The Star Wars Databank, the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, the Galactic Files trading card games, etc, which are all considered C-canon (G-canon in the databank's case as far as the movie info) all stated that Windu bested Sidious legitimately and no official source claims that Sidious threw the fight or was holding back. The New Essential Chronology even states that Windu fought a Palpatine who "unleashed his full fury" against him and the B-Team.

I wonder how this analysis fits with the Son of Dathomir comics.
Sidious claims that Talzin's saber skills were not on Dooku's level, yet she was able to fight more or less evenly with Mace in TCW. Maul was also able to fight against both Mace and Aayla in what he claimed was 'a fair fight'.
So perhaps we could say that at a base level Mace is somewhat below Dooku's level however if he decides to use Vaapad it boosts him up to Sidious level?
Neither his fight with Talzin or his fight with Maul was conclusive so it neither really contradicts his performance against Sidious.
@@toonbartholome479 To some extent you are right. However if Windu was really that good he would have performed better in those two fights regardless of whether the fight concluded or not. Windu hasn't consistently performed at Sidious level enough for a clear verdict to be made regarding his combat rating.

@@toonbartholome479 Better in the sense that he would have the clear advantage in the fight. Against Talzin he appeared to be on the defensive somewhat despite the fact her skills are inferior to Dooku's. His showing against her is not consistent with his fight against Sidious.
Maul was able to handle himself well despite being in a 2v1 with Mace. Once again this is inconsistent with Mace' showing of defeating Sidious. That said i'll admit the comic fight is too short to be conclusive.

Pretty powerful in Legends he was considered the person with the fourth higest potential in the order only behind Anakin, Yoda, And Dooku yeah.
I do believe Mace won his duel against Sidious, but there was one thing that allowed him to, that being Sidious could have killed him first and avoided the issue. Then there's also the fact that Yoda disarmed Sidious off screen, which is why it switches to Sidious using force abilities to keep Yoda at bay. Then there was the fact tbat, the only reason Yoda lost the fight was simply because it threw him further due to his smaller size. Had he not been thrown so far down, he probably would've continued the fight, but he wasn't able to return and knew it was better to retreat to teach future jedi

It's not referenced as an ability he has in canon. I know in legends (as Clone Wars is part of Legends) this is a reference to shatterpoint, but no where in canon is shatterpoint mentioned for Windu. Ever. Period.

I'm pretty sure Yoda also beat Sidious in lightsaber combat considering Sidious gets disarmed by both of them. Nick Gillard is one of the sources for the idea that Sidious just outclasses Windu as a fighter, but the script and what we see on screen kind of just indicates that it isn't the case.

There are no statements that Sidious let Windu win, but there are none that confirm he didn’t, or that Sidious would have actually ended up dead had Anakin not intervened at all. It was a fact in Anakin’s mind that that would happen, but not actually confirmation that it would’ve. I have no doubt that Sidious would’ve done something to save himself had Anakin not done anything. He is more powerful than Mace, and thus could focus on force pushing him away before he would strike, and likely disarm him, allowing Palpatine to shoot lighting at him with his full strength, killing the Jedi master.
I provided a statement in this video that Adair Sidious would have died if Anakin didn’t save him.

I could be wrong, but he’s not make when does force technique shatter point officially a force technique he used of revenge of the Sith normalization. The unstoppable Jedi Master Mace Windu.
Are you saying Windu was the best of this era? If so I could maybe agree although I think scaling him above Yoda due to their fights with Sidious is a bit unfair considering they were both able to defeat palpatine in lightsaber combat but because of the larger environment Palpatine was able to turn the fight with Yoda into a force duel. Whereas with Windu they were in a small room so he was unable to escape once he had lost the lightsaber duel.
Also putting him above the later versions of Sidious is highly questionable to me. Palpatine had decades of time with unlimited resources and full acces to the galaxy so his power probably would've grown quite a bit. Also by the time of ep9 his power is obviously unrivaled.
Also you never brought up some of Windus anti feats. For example if he was truly on the level of Yoda and Sidious I feel like he should've been able to defeat Maul rather easily. But even with Ayla Secura helping him Maul was able to hold his own and escape.

In my opinion the power of the verse is around large mountain to small island level. My reasoning for this is that Yoda casually bullied a living mountain, Vader blocked photon torpedos witch can damage large space ships with around this level of durability and Palpatines big lightning bolt in The Rise of Skywalker was calculated at around this level.
For speed it ranges between lightning timing and relativistic to light. Because jedi can block sith lightning and can pilot ships that even with their base speed (not hyperspace) are around relativistic to light speed.

I just want to be clear. At no point in time was mace windu ever intended to be a more powerful character in either force capability or light saber dueling than Yoda.
Regardless of the Disney purchase, Star Wars, Canon has always been written as movies first and content related to George Lucas takes precedent. The novelization of the films are considered Canon unless they deviate from what we see on screen. George Lucas line by line, edited the revenge of the Sith novelization and the author Matthew Stover has stated that it was 100% Lucas’s vision in that book. And that book states that Yoda was the most powerful Jedi but the order had to offer.
George Lucas did not intend for the character of mace to be that- and I don’t care what book Disney’s created that formed your opinion about this.
But the power tier system created for light saber, dueling for revenge of the Sith has Yoda and sidious on an equal level at a nine out of nine. Mace is an 8 to 8.5(with vapaad amp).
Mace is an Analog to Dooku not yoda.

But you're doing Canon only, so that changes things. The whole "Palpatine allowed him to win" only holds water with Legends continuity, Canon only has no evidence to support it other than Thematic/Narrative dissection and interpretation, which is subjective.

Mace almost squish Grievous like a bug as soon as he see him and it was kinda ridiculous that he did not finish end Griev because of the ship raising altitude is a joke since Windu could just as easy turn that small shuttle in a shoebox or at least bring the ship back to the ground.

In the Episode III Novelization Sidious is blatantly shown to be holding back and knows Anakin is coming; Mace realizes his mistake only at the last second, but since Disney doesn't treat that as canon, fair enough, in current canon Mace won fair and square, until Anakin saved Palpatine.
Ew, Palpatine would never allow himself to almost die, he wouldn't risk his life that way. Whatever novel out of the thousands of starwars novels that try make of starwars... it was fanfiction. Plain and simple. Lucas said Mace won fair and square.

It's ridiculous how Disney canon still keeps Mace as the champion of the jedi order and his mastery of Vaapad, yet waters the explanation of how Mace developed the form since most of Vaapad's creation and functions were primarily in Legends. How the hell did Mace even create Vaapad in Disney timeline?
Honestly, I would just include Shatterpoint and other Legends comics featuring Mace as to further explain how strong he actually was. Disney just dumbed him down to Jedi Master everybody hates because he kicked out ahsoka instead of Jedi Master who tried his best and had to see his own Order fall back on their hypocritical ways and was given a shit hand with his apprentice's (depa) fall.
This is just another reason why I despise Disney's so called canon. They dumbed down every single council master and nerf them minus anakin and obi wan who were still somewhat consistent with their Legends counterpart (TCW is considered legends despite contradictions to EU CW Multimedia project). When the EU clone wars comics showed the other council masters, you could feel that they weren't just canon fodder, they earned their seat through merit and effort. With Disney Canon? They nuked it to where only Anakin, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, Yoda, and Mace do anything of actual value
