I always told my raiders "I don't care what professions you have as long as you enjoy them. The gain of having a little stat boost isn't worth hating every minute of leveling something you won't use except for those stats"
Exactly, this fucking min/max culture have to die, me and my 2 diferent guild in classic vanilla were just a bunch of dudes having fun and we still manage to do all the content prety much at the same rate as all the tryhard guilds, this kind of shit dont matter, just have fun and try to do your best.

Unless you're in a guild that's super focused on top parses, realm firsts / speed clears,you don't have to min max professions like this. The content is 14 years old and we have all of the optimal strats, addons, weakauras, etc. You can clear it all with mining herbalism on your main if you really want to. Not a big deal
ty for this coment, i end up watching this videos and always feel like u have to do this or that to do good, when this is just minimal diference and complete min/max culture which i hate to the bone. All this content creators talk like if ure not doing it that way ure doing it wrong, when in reality u can do whatever te fuck u want and u will be just fine.
This goes for every raid btw. Unless your guild NEEDS to full clear heroic 25m week 1, you can smash heroic LK, firefighter, even Yogg 0 with unoptimal comps and professions.
Not trying that hard for this content, so I will be the same thing i am in TBC, Tailor/Alchemy. Min/maxing professions has always irked me and I won't do it unless its a huge buff. TBC tailoring was a huge buff for a shadow priest for the first half of TBC, but now as the guild tailor i don't really want to dump it to pick up herbing again.

I'm doing tailoring and skinning as warlock main. Tailoring for early gear and cloak enchant and skinning for ez gold and the crit is a plus

Hunters can easily sneak passed mobs and mine in dungeons as well, the same way everyone used to get through DMT. Except it will be even easier in Wotlk with Misdirection to your pet and Disengage. Not to mention if you are Ally and NE you get a second FD in Shadowmeld every three minutes.
So basically a hunter with mining wouldn't be so bad for instance farming?

I'm running mining/BS on a warrior for P1 then switching to JC/BS for ulduar (lol warrior dps meme). Alt balance druid will have enchanting to do the saronite shuffle, and inscription to take advantage of glymphas
I'm sorry to break some news for you, But gathering classes will be trash for gold making if you take any notes from classic / TBC now.. the bots flood the market after the first month
wrath and cata were the best times for crafting in the game, it was all downhill from there. Alch has always been useful but over all crafting in this game is meh.

Engi gives like 3% dmg increase. Tailoring if you can snapshot etc is like 2% if you can utilize it. Rest of crafting profs are pretty much all 1%. Atleast according to the bigbrains on disc

@@bigbassjonz I wish lol since we have a huge population people themselves keep the prices high, I noticed herbs went up with TH-camrs already posting videos of inscription for Wrath of lich king, and mining materials went up as well for phase 5 new items etc.

Availability of Dungeon farming = high amount of bots
Incompetence on blizzards part = high amounts of bots which then leads to diminished farms. The general community who enjoy farming are punished by blizzard at the end of the day because they would rather bots keep paying their electric bill in subs
If i forget a crafting profession in WOTLK, will i lose all the rare recipes forever or will they stay there if i relearn the prodession later?

I'll do the same thing I always do.. I'm going rogue with skinning/mining. Once I hit level cap and waiting for the 1 week wait for naxx, I'll farm pre raid and sell leather. Once I have enough gold and raw ore to power level engineering and jc to max. I'll drop both gathering and pick up double crafting. The more I play the more likely I'll be able to do it before the raid even launches. If not, I may only do it towards the end of naxx, which is still fine. Naxx just isn't hard and honestly it takes a bit for assassination to really pick up anyway. As long as I'm ready for ulduar when shit gets real.
This will be on fresh obviously. If I don't have it by the 90 days mark be use I severely underestimated something. I'll transfer my warlock main with 5k gold and every mat I need or transition to GDKP God willing and my guild isn't butt.
How much does Herbalism's Lifeblood scale up with your max hp? It sounds like it could potentially be even better than the 60 Stam from Mining for a tank, but I can't find any sources from back then discussing the scaling.

20k hp > +320 hp for a total of 3920 heal

30k hp > +480 hp for a total of 4080 heal
35k hp > +560 hp for a total of 4160 heal

Hey Scotteyjaye, I like the content you are making! I have a question; most seem to only cover solo dungeon farming for various resources. What if you go as a duo? You bring a druid (healer perhaps?) as miner / herber, and another class for skinning and disenchant items? Do you think any special combo / dungeon would be suited for this?
I have been mining since vanilla and I have seen it all now.
You go from the mad hungry miner who either just wants to upgrade his mining skills and or make profit on AH.
Mining feuds then to the most funny some idiots think they can corner the market on mining by creating 3 to 8 man mining crew in which you have the following:
A. The miners. Their only job is to mine ore.
B. The spotters they spot the rich ore without mining it and may even test the local miner on the mining ethics if they can mine it if the other person is just sitting there
in front of the rock as a way to measure how hard core the Johnny come Lately is.
C. Then you have the miner jockey's They try to make you feel bad by dissuading you from mining by getting ahead of you.
This only works if there really is a mining pattern and for the most part there is but ore spawn is unpredictable at best and if JOEBOB beats you to it each time
then you just reverse course to changing up your mining pattern which in turn messes up that mining crew and you just put a big dent in their "Profit per hour"
which is good and bad. Mining crews are almost always gold sellers. Always mark their player name.
Mark the names and actions they take if you think they are crews or spotters. or crew chief.
Spotters other jobs is to watch you and other players and report back to the mining crew chief so he can get more to mine in front of you so you get nothing.
Spotters are also used to send false complaints of aggressive miners telling sad tales of grief to the GM.
Aside from A,B,C I still make money while among them and there is nothing they can do about it.
I can counter the above methods very very easily with no addons of any kind.

I was thinking skinning becuase of the crit and i can respec prot for the farm you talked about. then i was thinking inscription for the glyphs or just letherworking for some more gold?? what do i do?
if I were to throw 2 gathering professions on a twink(10-19 bracket), what's the highest I could get those professions to and would they be useful
Great info. Honestly though, for what...99% of the community min/maxing professions won't make any difference in the long run. If you're sweaty enough and have the time, sure. Yet for most...nah.

The best way to make gold money s via your wallet. Best professions for the bonus are jewel crafting, engineering and enchanting.
i liked farming professions, but it is stupid to have them, when youre competing with thousand of bots (even if youre in a dungeon there will be far too many materials on the amrket)

Mining nodes are typically easier to see than herbs. I fly around on my druid with herb tracking on whilst keeping an eye out for ore.

I've used Lifeblood on my bear tank numerous times when I'm in a dungeon without a healer. Keeps me alive majority of the time.
Lifeblood ( herbalist spell ) can be used in bear from ? and is increst by HP? is it?
I'm surprised that people are lacking on gold lol, specially taking in count how devaluate the gold is since vanilla, you don't even need to use your credit card like most people do.
In fresh realms you start with zero gold :P

Let's say I have NO ALTS and want to Just make gold, What would be the best profession combination for a rogue? Skinning and Mining? Mining and Herbalism? Mining and Jewelcrafting? Inscription and Herbalism? I've really never done anything on the profession side because I play casually but I really want to start making gold.

I've had Engi/Tailoring on my warlock since ZG in classic and i'll keep it going into wotlk. Engi was a good gathering prof in TBC with the gas clouds. Might have to actually level up my Pally alt to mine in wotlk.
Here is the facts anything you can grind ez on a live server will tank fast. So like skinning I don't imagine will make money after 2 or 3 weeks in. On live servers people are market spergs its not like private servers prices on anything spammable will crash in less then a month.
What proffs would you suggest then to make some steady income?
Does lev80 has some raid boss that you can skin and get material that you can only get from skining like in 60 classic onyxia scale?
I think the only boss you can skin is Icehowl in ToC raid. And some minibosses (doggies in ICC). Maybe there are more that im not aware of.
If you're relying on those small buffs then you probably shouldn't be doing hard modes. Just sayin

Nope, the macro is the best way to track them. And why is it annoying to get gcd while you are flying?

I'l admit, arctic fur is good but relying on it can get boring fast. I'l probably start with my hunter that will be miner/engineer and do only the questline of Aliance Vanguard so I start west then east and be one of the first to get the chopper BP, as soon as ulduar hits I'l sell Clasic and TBC repairs bots because people wil eazily get Jeevs BP only to realise is actualy hard to make in terms that it needs old raids.My alt will be herb/alch as transmuting is free fast money. Pets will be easy to use so my lvl 1 in Booty bay will smugle tons of cats and moths to the horde, also there are 2 shirt patterns in Darkshire unique to alliance wich the horde might want. If Lacoste is free on your server you can try to make 5 gold shirts with a tailor with that name, sometimes it catches on and shirts "made by Lacoste" get fashionable. In Wotlk fishing and cooking are important as feasts are a thing and people apreciate you for bringing one or you can sell.

Main is gonna be Bs/enchanting. Alts are gonna be a mix of tailors miners and alchemy to be pure transmute machines

@@Scottejaye I haven't farmed gold all of tbc with 3 at 70. I might not be able to afford everything but I'm sure come wotlk launch things like the cloth cds (which are pretty bad in tbc with needing 3 different zones)will be very lucrative. Tailoring especially is the one I'm looking forward to since it can be farmed without another profession.
I need to change my professions on a few of my toons...but I'm mainly focused on crafting stuff for moneys 😅 edit: making me consider leveling a rogue
Question though, what if you didn't really play Classic or TBC and are coming to Wrath with basically no gold and aren't going to go super hardcare? Isn't then the revenue from a gathering profession worth the loss of a second crafting profession, at least until you have the money to afford two?

Scotte, I have two 70s now, with main having epic flying and engi/herb proffs. Shes a hunter. Alt is lock with tailoring and alchemy. I might level up an enha shaman which is around 40. I plan on having engi and JC on hunter later on, but go engi+gathering in the start. Do you think I should leave herbalism or level mining (I can get stuff for JC lvling rhat way) ? Is mining potentially more gold on start because of all the DKs and paladins needing that crafted gear? Also, is tailor/alch on lock good for some passive income+raiding? I do want to play it but not minmax. In the end what would you recommend as proffs on the 3rd char if I lvl it?
i'm a bit of a completionist, so dropping Engi or Jewelcrafting with 100% recipes So far is a Big No. so for me it's leveling up 2nd alt and try to Live of the Gold that i'm currently stacking up.
I will play in the Fresh realms most likely. Do you think going Herb/Mining will be impossible to farm with all the people also going for it? (and also bots). It will suck to be fresh 80 with maxed herb/mine only to find out the nodes are constantly down. What would you do?

Since 09 I've played a druid with alchemy and herbalism and that's nor changing anytime soon. I'm a firm believer that the slight difference in stats between professions don't make enough of a difference to be measurable when you take rng damage and healing ranges into account.
Yes it "a" difference, just not enough to stop me from cruising the meters while also having the professions I want.

The only valid gathering prof will be enchanting, everything else will be botted like crazy. Even oculus skinning

The heal is an extremely small hot. Not to be relied on it at any situation.

I'm gona go Inscription in Wrath, and it was gona be alch/inscip, but damn that's a mountain of herbs I'd need.
Idk what I'll lose by dropping alch, but I think it'll be Inscription/herb so all those herbs while leveling are not wasted.
When we dungeon grinded in TBC I was herb and got dungeon herbs. But none of us were mining, and we saw so many mining nodes just get wasted.
