Right! They're not buying them to enter them into a beauty contest! These people need to give the rest of us a break, from their not-for-profit picky insanity!

@markknivila8383 anything I review is all about functionality. A rifle would have to be HIT for me to even bring up something like that...most people will paint over it anyways.

Anything you purchase to use is a tool. That doesn't justify why they can have rough machining. Will you buy a $80k new truck that has dents everywhere even the dealer assures you it functions?
This level of tool marks isn't gonna leave the factory even by PSA's standard. Let alone that's $1200+tax+shipping for an upper assembly without a handguard(another $430).
We are approaching LMT piston and KAC prices after you complete the upper if you haven't realized how absurd you sounded! FYI, LMT monolithic uppers are billet from 7075.
Don't get me wrong, I use my stuff, and my MCX, SCAR17 20, Bren2, X95, Staccato, and LMT all show normal wear. I am just allergic to BS like this.🤢

The HK folk always crap on the clone stuff. I’ll surely grab a BRN-4 long before I spend the time/money to piece together with all HK parts. I get that stuff all the time with my AP5 MP5 clone which runs like crazy and was made on licensed HK machinery, but not an HK. The HK price just isn’t worth it to me for the majority of their stuff except for some of their pistols.

I got myself one, and i love it. The thing is mint and for the price, it is not bad at all.

Just a point... the Titan one... that's not machining marks on the Upper... it's forging streaking.
I don't care either way which one is better... but that Titan Upper is obviously a forging versus the BRN example is billet.
So... one is machining marks (BRN) the other is poor forging quality.

The only issue I've had with the BRN-4 is the roll pin channel in the upper receiver that holds the forward assist in place was out of spec. Took a little modification to make it work. Aside from that, runs great.

I have machining marks on my Knights. I prefer it didnt but as long as its accurate and is reliable who cares. If anything use it as a justification to paint the gun, fill up those marks with paint.

No issues BRN-4, it shoots, and achieves the level of accuracy I expect from the rifle. Any HK fan boys who poo poo it can say what they want with their MR556 / MR27 pretending to be CAG or DEVGRU. Sorry, at best you have lame clone of since rest of the world running the 416A5 lowers with the ambi controls. Sure go get it milled at BlackOps Defense. Same dude with a Mk18 or whatever shoots just as well and it’s many pounds lighter to lug around too. HK fanboism fascinates me. I’m not hating on HK, love HK. I have two MR556s, one MR762, several USPs, VP9 and an Hk45. Also got a Tommy built TG36 and TMP45. Guess what I usually take to shooting classes, etc….my vanilla Daniel’s Defense M4. I have the BRN-4 as my for fun build of a 416A5 (lower milled by blackops). I think BRN-4s are perfectly fine.

If someone would just make a CHF barrel that a HK piston setup would bolt right to or design a block to fit a AR that used the HK assembly/rod etc. Them they would sell them like Hotcakes!!
I got a Adams Arms... Only complaint i got is the weight of the gas block.. That is it.. I would put it up "DURABILITY WISE" against (ANY) AR ,M4, HK, etc..
People can say what they want, but they work... That "CARRIER TILT" shit ain't amounting to anything in the long run.. Not enough to hurt anything...
Run a H2-H3 buffer.. Problem solved!!
Sooner or later the NFA will fall and maybe we can get back to the good ol days where you can order whatever through the mail and have it shipped to your door like the founding father made it to be!

So I guess the BRN 4 BCG does not have the 416 BCG firing pin safety?

why is there a spring in the bolt?? that must be a Piston AR thing

    • @JohnDoe-mp1yn
      @JohnDoe-mp1yn 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

it's to entirely prevent bolt bounce

  • @stephenedwards5063

A piston bcg doesn’t need to spring back in fact it helps cause carrier tilt which is a serious and dangerous issue with piston AR uppers.

It seems really hard to machine a lower into the shape of a forging with those soft lines in tight spots. That's the last place you should be looking to determine the quality of the gun. Given the state of the g36, I'd bet the brn4 is better than the 416 in almost every other way.

    • @FXIIBeaver

      Nothing wrong with the G36

While I totally agree that BRN-4 isn't that bad and is certainly very functional. The material and finish do not justify the $1200 for an upper w/o handguard(another $430) and muzzle. Keep in mind a brand new Car816(complete rifle) is like $1750 in stock right now. Adam Arms complete upper ranging from $400 for the baseline P1 to $1000 for the fanciest P2. And PWS uppers are $800-1100.
The current BRN-4 upper price(after completion) puts it against the LMT piston and KAC price range. LMT monolithic uppers are made from billet 7075, the most rugged upper/handguard on the market. 🤔I wonder how something with a worse finish than Adam Arms P1 and most likely can't perform better than any of the listed examples ended up like this?

It's a shame that for over a year full auto ranges have had the uppers for rent on their class 3 lowers and when you run them hard.. they break faster then PSA, sorry kid.
