For all the guys saying it was modified or deleted and that's why it happened. WRONG! I have my stock 2020 GMC Duramax in for a new motor due to some sort of lifter failure. I also have a buddy who had his replaced also because of the same thing. Mechanic told me he is seeing them more often now with the same failure. I've had every version of the Duramax none have had a trans a engine failure. My 2020 has had both. My last truck was deleted with 500 miles on it. I sold it with 250k miles without any issues.

The tech void the warranty because he gets pay up to double if he doesn’t warranty your engine. Example, if he did the engine replacement under warranty. He gets pay 15 hours to replace that engine. However if it’s Customer Pay/non warranty, he gets pay double that time. That’s just how that world works.

I'd be willing to bet the pcv mod created an issue at some point after it was installed. I guess...at this point... it really doesnt matter what has happened if your committed to pulling the engine out and tearing it down ...You will find the problem. But if it were me ...and the engine wasnt makin HeLLA Bad Noises ...i would put injectors back in , PROPER ENGINE OIL LEVEL back in , and hook it up to where it would just run without the turbo and start it up for a few seconds to see what amount of oil it puts out thru the exhaust side of engine.
IT COULD BE LEAKING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE OIL PAN (thru a physical leak or bad tuning / timing) AND RAISING THE OIL LEVEL TO EVACUATION LEVELS AT WHICH TIME ITS GONNA GO OUT THE EXHAUST FIRST AND IF YOUR LUCKY IT WILL NOT HURT THE PISTONS AND RODS WHEN STARTED AGAIN. ( Bad Noises !!! )

According to the Magnuson-Moss Act, a vehicle manufacturer cannot automatically cancel your warranty just because you’ve installed aftermarket car parts. This is an illegal practice. That said, if your aftermarket part somehow causes or contributes to a failure in your vehicle, the dealer may be able to deny your warranty claim-as long as they can prove the connection. In these cases, the burden of proof is entirely on the dealership.

I am interested in the solution because when a seal goes in a turbo it looks just like that. Was it check by the company that sold it to him? You know they did not cop to their first gen stealths grenading until it happened to enough people and word got around. thus the need for the non-grenading gen 2 stealth.

True but a 3406 cat making 400 hp can pull 100000lbs up mount eagle because it’s larger duty cycle. It’s not about how much power it can make it’s what it can efficiently cool. The 3406 can run at full throttle 100% load all day long and still last.

Cat-backs, CAI, & tuners on all of my trucks. It's pretty common to see the GM gassers hit 300-400k, AND you can buy a whole new complete engine for under $6k. I've got buddies who have Duramax, Cummins, & Powerstroke...ALL have easily stuck $5k-$10k into repairs...You can have them all, I'm LOVING my new 6.6 gasser!

My son has a 2019 Chevy 2500HD Duramax 445hp 910lbs toque. Plenty of power. I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD Duramax LB7 with only 92,000 miles, with up grades K&N cold air breather and a tow tuner. Stock it had 235hp and 500 lbs toque. I estimate now within up grade 280 to 345 hp. and 580 to 650+ lbs of toque depending on the horsepower of the tuner 40 or 60 and 15 to 20 hp of the K&N breather. Multiply by 1 1/2 for the toque. The previous owner had the up grades done and he pass away (RIP) so I have known idea what tuner he put on it or the horse power. He raised and trained horses so it reasonably he had a tow tuner put on to pull the horse trailer..I also have a 2004 Chevy 3500 8.1 Vortex to pull my heaviest loads my work truck. To me my 2500hd Duramax LB7 has enough power. And my son’s 2019 2500 Duramax has at least a third more power then my 2001. My 2001 gets great mpg on the highway 23+ mpg with the new smooth gas saver highway all season tires. I believe the biggest factor in saving fuel is slow accelerating. But who doesn’t love to feel and hear the power of a truck or farm tractors which I have 3. Your friend voided the warranty of his new truck, sorry for his loss, when doing up grades do what is safe and effective for your engine/ truck.

Mud and water in air box. He doesn't have time for it. He is getting paid to work on it right? Not many people want to get caught up in your shit if it goes south. These engines are no joke. How bout watching how complex they have become and then decide you can afford to be stupid.

I compound turboed my lbz and had oil pump out the exhaust.i shut the truck off after safely pulling over. After I pulled it apart I noticed the crankcase was building excessive pressure, all it was, was a defective oil filter that wasn't allowing the oil to circulate.its not always a bad engine.or hot tuning , before you assume the worst go through the truck ,think about the last work you did to it and go from there. It's sad to read some of these comments.people sound like fools.

DO NOT DO THE PCV REROUTE!! Diesel engines need a crankcase vent for a reason! I bet you this was a contributing factor to the reason this engine failed and probably was leaking oil. Pressurized Crankcase Vents are part of emissions controls. rather than vent to atmosphere, like older diesel engines, the blow-by travels through a filter and then finally, into the oil pan. I am saying all this as a Heavy Duty Diesel/ Equipment mechanic. PCV type tech exists on all modern diesel engines and I see them all the time on the equipment I work on. I am all for deleted diesel engines, as emissions system errors can be expensive and can cause downtime for your rig. As for this guy’s PCV reroute, absolutely do not do it that way. If anything, you could cap off the lower hose that drains back to the oil pan, remove the PCV filter housing, and route a hose that goes down past the engine. Bottom line, engineers, who spend time developing this shit, are doing it for a reason. If you’re going to remove/delete your emissions system, do your research, and take it to a professional/someone who knows what they’re doing.

The owners going to have $120k in the truck or more with sales taxes....just leave it stock. Buy an older truck and sup it up and tow with the new one like Truck Master..... Duramax engines are too complicated to really keep up with....I have a 6.0 gasser and I can put a brand new engine in for $6k

It is not a one in 1 million case. I’m on my third engine in 170,000 miles and I did not delete it it was always bone stock with perfect maintenance done all I did was tow the amount that it said was capable of. One time a catastrophic hole in piston number eight at 116,000 and a cracked piston we are not sure which probably eight at 167 exactly 50,000 miles later is never abused never run hard other than like I said towing what they said was capable of. These are not all they’re “cracked up” to be pun intended

So you post a video that is 8min plus and the take away is....... You really have no clue what is wrong or why it failed? Come on man.
Somehow oil went out the exhaust through the up pipes, through the turbo, into the intake, and yada yada yada.
A pressure test on each cylinder through the glow plug hole would have narrowed it to a single cylinder or a full bank if the head cracked.
Totally looks like the seal blew in the turbo and the truck ate and breathed all the oil, especially with no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil.
Does the motor turn over or did he run it until it quit?

@@TAGDIESEL well considering the engine is down I imagine him pushing the stock fuel system, the pulse widths on likely advanced timing would make a piston leave the chat. Anytime you spray fuel outside the piston cups , which is exactly what happens with stock nozzles and injectors with advance fuel timing, you're gonna break or melt pistons. They aren't designed to withstand load oun the outter skirt. This is why so many LBZ, LMM, have so many cracked pistons. I haven't seen this engine torn down, but I would put my money on his tuner turning shit up that isn't meant to be turned up that much especially on advanced timing. But again, just a guess.

He should have gotten engine coverage from his insurance company like AAA Will sell you The coverage for about half the price and you can take it to any shop AND it doesn't have to be The dealer!! Because from My experience the dealership doesn't have The costumes back!!! The point is that if you buy a hi performance vehicle and you intend to modify the engine just get the extended warranty from your insurance company because when the dealer decides that the engine was modified they will look for any excuse to void the warranty!!!!

seems to me calling it a catastrophic engine fail before determining exactly what failed is premature and inaccurate. Excessive crankcase pressure or turbo seal could easily cause these symptoms and certainly the lack of oil remaining in the pan is going to finish the engine off if not shut down immediately. My money is on a kinked or collapsed pcv vent tub and the oil pushed past the turbo. It's not like theres a lip seal in the turbo cartridge that can be looked at post mordem, its a metal ring that will show no obvious signs of a failure
