    I bought this exact truck before I saw this cab off repair video. Truck now has 450,000 kms on it towing almost full time. Couple injector pigtails and fuel lift pump issues but nothing too pricey so far

    I still have an lbz. My friends bought new 2017 and 2018 Denalis. They are very comfortable and powerful.......when they are on the road. Their trucks have been in the shop repeatedly, sometimes for months! They are now out of warranty and continue to be problematic. The vast majority of failures are dpf related. The costs have been incredible, exceeding $20k for out of warranty repairs. Both friends are considering ordering new 2022 models due their belief that previous problems have been addressed.

    I have a friend that started to have dpf issues with his 2017 L5P i have a 2020L5P he only weekend drives his and has i belive 50000 miles, mine has 31000miles no issues, when he started to have dof issues the display on the dash told him he had a certain amount of miles to get to the shop something like that. I told him bring it by my house and hook on to my gooseneck dump trailer go out to the rock quarry and bring me two loads of rocks, now grated he was restricted at 60-65mph if i remember right, and from the quarry up to my house is mostly all hills with large grades needless to say after the second load halfway to my house the code for dpf cleared. This comes to my conclusion that theses trucks cant be babied they have to actually be worked and not road princessed out.

    The l5p are one of the best engines built!. Bought my 2019 with 2 miles and now I’m at 187k miles and no problems and still running good on 35s!. Best advice is to keep up with your maintenance and to fully delete the damn truck. The def is bullshit and only hurts the truck, that’s why I removed it because it gets way better mpgs and runs stronger, sounds a whole lot better too!. Any truck is trash if you don’t change the filters and don’t keep up with maintenance. Simple as that!.

    Gale Banks was Heavily involved in the development of the LP5 Build along with a Racing background Engineer, I can’t remember the name but Mr. Banks tells it that it’s the best out there right now. Now that being said, I have Owned every Version of GM Diesel Engines since the 6.2 Conversion to the 21 LP5 and I honestly believe this one has the most power along with fuel mileage. I get 24 out of my 21 crew also the 19 not as good but still good, my 14 gets about 21 but is a 3500 HD Crew I use to Haul Equipment around Michigan. Another thing is Bob Cross God Rest His Soul was the Engineer at GM who actually was on the 502 Crate Design also He Himself Created the Heads That NASCAR Required Use. That being said he told me that in Milford GM Proving Grounds they put every after Market System on the Duramax and Could Not Blow one Up at all. You name the Company and GM Tried their Product on the Duramax to try to Blow one up. The only issue ever that I know was Injectors in 2003 and the Turd Fuel Pump the CP4 which is on my 14 which needs converted over but Diesel Pros who does all our Company Repair Shop Burned to the Ground. Luckily for Us and Matt the Owner had good Insurance so they broke ground across the road the very next day so he could get his Customers work completed. He lost Millions of Property along with Nine Bays that all had Trucks in them, lost several in the parking area from intense Heat. A short story long is as soon as he is able the conversion will get done alone with new Head Gaskets or maybe even a New Crate 6.6 who knows.

    The 6.6 Motor was being built in Ohio but the Heads are Cast by Isuzu. Then get delivered to GM Plant in Ohio then put together here then shipped to the Truck Plant in Flint where they are put into the trucks. The very best Is the LP5 to date. But the have never had a bad motor, fuel pumps were junk for a while.

    So, after listening to your summation of the exhaust manifold issue and the resultant damage, I’d suggest that it would be fair to suggest that the fault is partially a result of the customer driving too far with a leaking exhaust manifold? I have to believe that any manifold suffering that kind of damage (1/4” right?) made noise... My take away from this is that if it sounds wrong it is... take it in and get it fixed!
    They might have saved themselves a lot of money if they acted promptly.
    Am I wrong?

I have a 2019 duramax 6.6 in last year have replaced 5 injectors first 3 twice in 3 months then number 5 twice first injector went then the harness to number 5 . 4 months later now I just replaced number 7. I pull trailers as well I put on 25 to 30 thousand km a month oil and filters done every month at gm dealership here in canada where I'm from. I've also replaced fuel pump as metal shavings started in first 8 months of buying truck. GM doesn't want to solve problem they just replace injectors and hand me the bill I ask why is this continuing all they say is I DON'T KNOW???

    Great Video, super informative! Any info on a new(less than 200 miles) 2022 6.6 duramax warm engine knock? Dealer states it is normal, all do this because of the new bell housing. is it safe to say that L5P is the most reliable engine. Injectors cheap and HP is cheap comparing to Bosch.

    • @dgsprotech985
      @dgsprotech985  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the failure, also the aftermarket allow for more reasonable priced parts as l5p is gm only on lots of items as of now

    • @brittanysnyder9361
      @brittanysnyder9361 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Best thing gm did was get away from the cp4 pump and injectors. The fail rate is astronomical. Look up ford and ram. New Denso pump with screens for safety. Way to go GM!!! And so much more. It’s worth reading about. And they went back to the lml style injectors. Witch is also Denso btw 20% more flow.

    • @blythkd9017
      @blythkd9017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brittanysnyder9361 Agree on ditching the CP4 but why such a high failure rate on the L5P injectors? Previous injectors (other than LB7) lasted pretty well but they drop like flies on the L5P. Mine dropped an injector at 126k miles. Called my mechanic and he said another 2018 he works on just went through 3, one right after the other.

      @@blythkd9017 You are both right. Its not an Isuzu and it is developed in house in Moraine. It is a GM motor based off the previous first gen motor that can be found in first gen duramax trucks(Lb7 RPO code). The only thing that motor has in common with an Isuzu is the displacement. It has been entirely re-purposed by GM specifically for the Silverado line. By the way, GM is the primary owner of DMAX. They are a division of GM. Sort of like how Corvette is a division of GM.

    Best way to avoid L5P issues is to not buy one right now.....Chevy has done some weird stuff which he explains perfectly, but that exhaust right over the heads,...ouch.

    You need to do more research on the Duramax. It is not an Isuzu motor. The L5P has had hardware changes.. please educate yourself better on engines. It would be like me calling the powerstroke in New fords an international designed motor.

    • @blythkd9017
      @blythkd9017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite the same thing. The new Powerstroke is all Ford, nothing to do with Navistar. Duramax is a joint venture between GM and Isuzu, always has been.

      You are the one that needs to educate yourself. The GM Duramax engine plant, otherwise known as GM DMAX Ltd. or GM Moraine Engine Plant, is located in Moraine, Ohio, United States. The plant is a joint venture between General Motors and Isuzu Diesel Services of America, with 60 percent belonging to GM and 40 percent to Isuzu. The facility produces large diesel engines.

      @@HyperXism Give it up, T Rob obviously knows it all. You ever notice when people like that plant their feet in the mud and jump up and down like they know something better than everyone else, they're usually completely wrong but won't ever back up.
      But you're exactly right, Isuzu still owns a chunk of Dmax Ltd. So although calling it Isuzu may not be technically correct, it still make sense if that's what someone prefers to call it. I mean GM couldn't design a good diesel back in the 90's, that's why they enlisted Isuzu to drive the design effort.
