Wonderful reaction, Nick! I think Stevie’s music is pure joy. This is a very underrated album with amazing songs throughout. That song switch is probably my favorite moment on the whole record!
I saw him in a restaurant in the Malibu Hills where I lived and he just radiates pure light. As I was staring at him from my table, his wife just turned to me and smiled as if to say, I know, right? It's as if he's an angel placed here on Earth by God to spread love and joy.
My memory from the record Hotter than July in 1980 is when I saw Elvis Costello two months after it was released, and he incorporated a passage from its lead single, the reggea Master Blaster (Jammin') into his own reggea Watching the Detectives :)
Nick, I have watched a lot of your videos, and I think I know something of your taste. If you have never heard "Superwoman," from the album "Music of My Mind," it is a must. Make sure that you listen to the entire length. I think it's around 7-8 minutes long. Stevie plays EVERY instrument on the recording.
Stevie wrote "All I Do" as a teenager in the 60s for Tammy Terrell. She recorded her version but it was never released. There's a copy of it on youtube. Cool!!!
He originally wrote "All I do" in the 60's. Did you hear "Eddie Lavert" of the OJAY'S, the legendry "Betty Wright" and young "Michael Jackson" in the chorus?...
The whole album is absolute fire. the only thing that dates it is Master Blaster and Happy Birthday to MLK. not because the songs are bad. they are super catchy. they are just dated. Happy Birthday is about why there should be a MLK holiday. and now there is. and master blaster is about Zimbabwe. and things didnt work out too well there politically. that's the danger of making songs overtly political. it tends to date the songs. But melodically they are too of Stevie's better tracks. and this might be Stevie's most consistently good album in a while. maybe not too many classic tracks or hits. but every song is a jam. including All I do and Did I Hear you say you love me. neither one was a hit. but they both are super grooves. and that's true for every song on the album. even the lesser known ones. it doens' hurt that this is the first Stevie Wonder album I ever heard. so maybe there is some nostalgia there. But it's just really good. I like it a lot more than Talking Book and other albums that rank higher in his catalog.

Thank you as always, JK!! Another banger I thoroughly enjoyed!
All I Do is one of Stevie's most beautiful, special songs, the Michael Jackson backing vocals just stunning.

Michael Jackson was one of the background singers on "All I Do"
This entire album is fire 🔥
All that album is fantastic! 👍
Thanks Nick and JK for bringing us this gems! Stevie is the upmost musician, I can’t imagine that it gets any better!
I was learning to play bass guitar with this LP in '83. Playing over the music and learning how to sound with the other muscisians. Unforgetable.
My favorite Stevie Wonder ballad is Ribbon In The Sky. That's a song you definitely need to listen to with Lex. It's just a gorgeous song.
Fantastic Song. From Musicquarium I
I absolutely adore this album. Worth doing the other tracks soon!
Thank you JK for the great request, really enjoyed it, Nick, Thank you for another great reaction, appreciate it.

Perry, Nick did listen to that song in an earlier “Super” songs marathon. Check it out!

Hotter Than July is too often Overlooked. Great deep tracks from Hotter Than July. Stevie can't miss. Too High is from Innervisions.
Hola, a finales de los ´70 furor en Buenos Aires, lo pasaban en todas las discos!!! Saludos desde Temperley, BsAs.
He uses keyboard bass.

He has said he wishes he could see again.
Nice haircut. Now you don't have to use as much shampoo.
