    dude he is STRONG. also, i miss rock climbing. hubby and i used to go all the time. i sucked, but he was getting better. he really wants a 3D printer....maybe i should let him.

    i've literally been climbing since i was six and my dads friend is a graphic designer who got me into 3D printing, this video was literally a mix of my two favorite things, plus i love any of your content, so this video is literally perfect

    That is friggin awesome. I wish my house was strong enough to hold this :( . This place is so old, the walls are practically crumbling inside lol.

      mine too, when we tried to hang a lamp a piece of the ceiling crumbled off and it turns out the ceiling is made of straw and plaster...
      Not a real surprise though, since our bathroom is build on a styrofoam foundation.

    Thats so cool to watch another rock climber, I've been doing competitive bouldering and am going to regionals. Wish I had a 3D printer right now haha

      A lot of rock climbers have muscle strength as opposed to muscle volume, which is what a lot of bodybuilders have, muscle strength is how much you can actually hold or withstand, while volume is how much your muscle is defined, granted bodybuilders do have strength just not as much as a lot of good rock climbers more often than not

    I used the epoxy with aquarium sand with 3 different granulations/types and put it on your 3d printed model. Still waiting for it to cure to the wood.

      Emiel Van Herck I really like both 3doodler pens. the Create is a bit more advanced, while the Start prints cool so you can draw directly on just about anything

    Hello. Quick question. Regiarding price in materials how much would you say you spent? Just asking. I know the piece is one of a kind and of course you modified it. But just wondering because i wanted a hangboard too but was thinking about a matelleous board that does the job but its 90 buks. Thanx and cudos for that piece its awesome👌

      OnShape is free and quite similar to Solidworks. TinkerCad is easier, and Blender is good for organic models. All free!

    Very cool. If you used fine sand, and didn't paint/clump it together, it would have had more of a sandpaper texture, which would have been even better.

    Thanks for making this. I'm curious, why did you decide to glue the hold on instead of screwing it on in some way? Also, have you tried to print the texture instead of applying it after using sand?

      Screws would introduce points of weakness, and the plastic would be supported only by a few points instead of the whole flat surface. It would break really easily.

    nice hangboard! wouldnt it be possible to just print a rough texture instead of the sand for grip?

      Yes, that would work to an extent. I just wanted it to be super grippy, plus I did it for the sake of experimentation! If I did it again, I might still use sand, but I wouldn't try to paint it... that's what led to really big chunks that I didn't want.

    What type of filament did you use and what was the % of fill that you set the printer so it can hold your body height

      I did this a looong time ago so I don't remember exact settings, but it was just PLA with a ton of solid outline perimiters (10+ probably) and then like 50-80% unfill for the rest. The thick coating of epoxy greatly increases the strength as well.

    I think my favorite thing about you is how experimental you are. You decide to texture your print with spraypainted pebbles whereas I'd be scared to "mess up" and ruin the print.
