  • HOW TO MAKE A FLEMISH BOWSTRING!
    The Flemish twist is a style of bowstring that has a very traditional look to it, and is also extremely durable. My oldest bowstring is a Flemish twist and only needs a fresh coat of wax after almost 5 years.
    You'll need:
    1. Saw
    2. Pen or Pencil
    3. Measuring Tools
    4. Nails
    5. Hammer
    6. Board
    Sadly, the plans I used to make this jig measured the pegs to BOW LENGTH not string length, so your first string may not come out as intended. I plan on making another video after designing a jig myself.

    Great video. You need to find that singing chipmunk and chase him out of the shop.

    Nice. Couple of suggestions.
    Nail heads too big. I'd suggest finish nails. Just enough of a head to help retain the string, but not so big that they get in the way. Maybe somewhere close to 10 penny finish nails. And the center nails with the length marks, I'd probably just make holes and insert a golf tee at the appropriate length.
    Still, good work. Keep them coming.

    Can you show us how to use it. An example of how to make one. Also maybe a link on what kind of string to use?

      The cord is made from B50 Dacron. You can get it on Amazon for $10

    How to made the string with that jig ?

  • @metro9636
    @metro9636 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    note that these measurements are for the AMO not the string length, I already wasted some D97 material already. My fault for not reading all of the description before watching the video.

    How wide is your board? I heard you say inch n a half but it looks like it's at least 6 inches

    Nice. Easy to do and really fast. Maybe, and I say maybe, the head of the nails could be smaller, especially in the part where they are so close to each other.

    Good video shame about the music.
    The sizes 48 to 78, are these the bow length or the string required length.

    • @GreyThinking
      @GreyThinking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      String length. Every bow will have a different brace height, so I find it strange when jigs have the bow length instead of the intended string length

    i think there is a mistake in the measurements. i built this string jig step by step and measured twice. Strings come out really short. i built another from a archery store think 3rivers which gives wider dimensions. That 1 while not perfect was a little bigger. in the end i have to add like 21 inches to amo string length to get a string near what i want. every 1 twist a little different so a few trial and error runs with cheap dacron till you get it right the way u like ur string. thanks.for sharing tho
