And the spanish lyrics are just hilarious, they use catchy phrases and words combined with very cliche elements about metal music...just awesome man!

And I get the feeling this is getting even more experimental during COVID, when there is not much else you can do.
"a mirar la foca" is a mix of spanish and italian slang as Foca (italian and spanish for seal) is often used to "disguise" fica, which is slang for the female reproductive organ ;)
There's always esoteric meanings in their songs, apparantly the 'Asando un salmon' bit (which translates literally as roasting a salmon) is a play on Alzando which is 'raising' and apparantly a slang euphamism for getting an errection. In Valhalleluja the 'Shema ygdrassil' bit is a play on a traditional hebrew prayer and the falegn-amen bit at the end is a play of the Italian word for carpenter. You either have to be fluent in like 6 languages and understand the slang to fully appreciate how magnificent they are, or check the comments section for those who are fluent. Vegan Velociraptor and And Then I Noticed That She Was A Gargoyle next?
There's also the part where it goes "a mirar la foca" where the word "foca" sounds like an italian slang term for "pu$$y" which is "fica", another very hard reference is right after "dj Charlie" when someone says "ghesboro-oh" wich is a dialectal term used to say like "holy shit" very common in Venice and particularly Mestre
This song was fantastic, I'm from Puerto Rico were reggeatón was born and growing up the competition in school was between the metal heads/rock fans and reggeatón fans. The video does one hell of a good job showing that tension and the song would have been a sin in my school days. Like someone else mentioned that picture the pull from the flames is Daddy Yankee and it's kinda evocative of people embracing reggeatón just for the girls and the fun which is inevitable when all the music around you is just that one genre.
Holy fuck. I watched this more than 100 times without doubt, probably more, but noted that just after this comment. I seriously wonder what else I missed..
I have watched a bunch of reaction videos to this song and none of them commented on this, even when they caught many of the more obscure references. Also of note is that when they are inside the club and the girls are in corpse paint, their dance moves also degenerate into zombie moves, leading into the shout-out to the Cranberries' "Zombie".
@@11alpha48 But something I immediately got but no one have ever spoken of is that, at least here, reggaeton is one kind of music famous for sticking in your head for hours/days even after music goes down. Not sure if you heard it in the background but they’ve got Manowar Battle Hymn mixed in at the same time as they played off of the cranberries! They also performed this on a Spanish talent show and it was absolutely hysterical
It was also earlier during the verse about "My Drakkar is ready won't you get on board" But instead of "By Moonlight We Ride" it is "By Sunlight We Ride"
I've known Nanowar for years, and also saw them live a couple of times. After reading your comment I went to watch the video of España Got Talent, but I'm kind of confused... what was their plan there? 😅 it was certainly not one of their best live performances, they even made a non-singer sing. And it is also true that they barely put any metal in the performance. I'm sad that a whole nation didn't get to see how great they actually are. So, what were they doing there? Were they going to be kind of lame at the audition and then astonish everyone with badass music and skills from the second episode? Or what? 🤔

I'm not into black metal, never listened to Raggaeton, hate rap, and don't speak Spanish. But this is my favorite song I heard last year. Once you know the lyrics and can just watch the video, you need multiple watches to pick up everything. The girls are the same dancers in Uranus video. I thought it was funny how the video started with the band in black metal makeup and the girls were shaking their butts, and later the girls were in black metal makeup and the band was shaking their butts.

What a lot of people tend to miss is the ,,By sunlight we ride / 10 000 side by side'' in the background in a couple spots alluding to the lyrics from Manowar's Battle hymn but sunlight is actually moonlight so they changed it becouse this is reggaeton and sunlight is more reggaeton than moonlight

I'm not a fan of "reacts" videos, but man, you are awesome! You're knowledgeable but your video is about you enjoying the fantastic song and not being "expert" about it. I liked your video as much as I like the song (and I love this song!)
The catch with this song is that many people listen to this genre without knowing the spanish and what the lyrics are about. So that summer it was playing on beach parties or zumba classes :D
I got to know you thanks to your reactions to the nanowar songs. I wanted to give you the compliments for your completeness of your reactions (opinions, facts, etc) and also because, with your way of speaking, you can understand them even for those who, like me, do not understand English very well. Greeting from Italy!!
This is not my own explanation, but the best one I have seen so far. I am quoting someone (It was a comment someone made on another reaction of t his music video) here regarding the "Esta vida loca / a mirar la foca / asando un salmòn / norwegian reggaeton" part: ""When they say "a mirar la foca" is a reference to a trashy Italian comedy movie from the 70s. "Viva la foca, che Dio la benedoca" is a censored word play on "viva la fica, che dio la benedica" (long live the female body part, may god bless it), and changing the vowels fica becomes foca (seal) and benedica becomes benedoca which doesn't mean anything thereby revealing a word play (that o's stand for i's and foca actually means fica). So "a mirar la foca" can refer to living your life with that summer vibe looking for adult funtime, and "asando un salmòn" is typically used in Italian as a reference choice for phallic symbolisms and innuendos. So probably asando un salmòn (and by the way asando sounds similar to the Italian "alzando", raising) refers to morning wood in reaction to having mirado la foca""

This was great! Jamie had a good time watching Chase react to this one a while back. Interesting to get some of these references because I had no idea about any of the ones you picked up on. Nanowar always gives you a good time

I love all the references to many things, the plays on words, and the freaking chorus is hilarious and I love it with all my dark little heart. Well, now it's time to randomly sing the chorus and have the song stuck in my head for at least a good week, lol.
Hey Tank, What up bro. Your react is great. Just tipping you about the part with reference of cranberries. On backing vocals in the part: "In your head, Reggaeton" we hear the verse: "By sunlight, we ride, ten thousand side by side". This verse is a reference of Battle Hymn of Manowar. The band is american but uses references of scandinavian culture in their songs. I also see that you have difficult to understand the verses in spanish. I tought that's very interesting because to brazilians that' speak portuguese, is mor easy to undestand the verses and well, that's it. Thanks for the video. Salutes from Brazil.
in this song there is a play on words that can only be understood if you know the Italian language. In the chorus he uses the word tumba which in Italian has an assonance with the word tomba or the grave where the dead is buried. So he says desecrate a grave to the rhythm of the rumba
Oh no I thought it was now and I was like "YES" and then I saw it was later :( but I'll definitely watch it! Edit: it was as great a reaction as I thought! I love that you kept laughing because yeah, that song is hilarious. And genius. One of my absolute favorite songs that makes me dance through my flat ;D
Someone surely has pointed it out, but the backing vocals "by sunlight, we ride! 10000 side by side" for the chorus is surely a reference to "battle hymns" by Manowar (nanowar.... eh ;) ) where the lyrics are (by moonlight, we ride! 10000 side by side!" Which is such great referencing and a great tribute ^^
Awesome stuff, I thought you'd done Norwegian Regaeton, but this is a fantastic surprise. In your head indeed that bloody riff doesn't leave mine. I'd be curious as to what you make of Sneeztem of a Yawn, their ockdown song with lyrics, commentary and no singing. It's very apt for the mad worldly things we're going through and it has an amazing (sneezed) chorus. It's genuinely brilliant.
Tbf it's reggaeton, not reggae, which is kind of like the club music of latin america, and imo it's not the worse to be put in reggaeton lyrics so far.
The funniest part of this song is, and I'm not talking about the song itself, down here in Mexico (I'm mexican, hello), the video started some "controversy (although I shouldn't call it that way)" on social media; there was an endless line of ridiculous metalheads commenting that "they felt offended by this song", because "how could they compare the almighty black metal with the horrendous reggaeton?!" All that toxicity was hilarious, the song is amazing.
I highly advise checking out the translation for the Spanish parts, it's hilarious. (and more references, "asando un salmon" cracks me up every time, few things more Norwegian than grilled salmon xD) One harder to catch reference btw is "a mirar la foca", foca is Spanish (and Italian) for seal (the animal) but it's also used as a euphemism for "fica" which is female genetalia =P
uuuhhhmmm @Tank did you get the Manowar reference inbetween there? There were two references of the song Battle Hymn in there :D @6:52 for instance: by sunlight, we riiiiide (instead of moonlight ;) ) and 08:31 again :)
I came to provide spanish translation, but i see some commenters already did that. XD I remember back in 2019 i was living abroad and coworkers were still playing Despacito ALL THE DAMNED TIME and expecting i would like it because i'm spanish after all! Well, this song was the best "Despacito f*ck off" i could wish for back then xD
I think you would really enjoy Gigatron. Although an important part is the double meaning on the lyrics, I think you could give them a go. Viking Boogey is a supercool tune. And yes, is spanish. Great reaction, as usual!

Great video. Loving the beard :)
"profanar la tumba", desecrate the grave - not something you hear very often in your run-off-the-mill reggae song.
Hahahahaha
on the rhythm of the rumba, none the less! love it :D
(and more references, "asando un salmon" cracks me up every time, few things more Norwegian than grilled salmon xD)
One harder to catch reference btw is "a mirar la foca", foca is Spanish (and Italian) for seal (the animal) but it's also used as a euphemism for "fica" which is female genetalia =P
I love your energy :D been watching your videos all night and will now subscribe to stay up to date with your uploads. Stay healthy!
We want an insider's reaction to Tenacious D-Roadie. And please, the official video with the intro and outro....a fitting hymn to roadies everywhere
man, i played that one a couple of times as a stagehand when we were finally done hanging the bananas :D
Always loved this song it was great to learn more about it
When I saw this video in my list I ACTUALLY clapped with glee. Not kidding. I love this song.
Yes!!!
12:34 Varg and his BM purist jackals could dislike this. On another note, fucking loved all the Burzum/Darkthrone references in this vid
I enjoyed the song first without the subtitles and then turned them on and it made me crack up way more.
they are great. so creative
Next, " And Then I Noticed That She Was a Gargoyle", please :D
«Satanas me sube la temperatura» (Satan rises my temperature) is my favourite line
uuuhhhmmm @Tank did you get the Manowar reference inbetween there? There were two references of the song Battle Hymn in there :D @6:52 for instance: by sunlight, we riiiiide (instead of moonlight ;) ) and 08:31 again :)
Nope. I’m not super familiar with Manowar.
This is my number one in 2020, but honestly I have it in my head ever since I've heard for the first time ;D
🎶in your head, in your head, reggaeton, reggaeton, reggaeton🎶
😆😆😆
@@erikrandan7294 exactly 😅
Off topic but it has to be said, beard's lookin' epic.
Thanks man!
equal parts laughing and headbanging.. yep thats Nanowar of Steel \m/
I have never clicked this fast! HELL TO THE YES! xD
Instant like...for some reason im expecting some hard headbanging and a shit ton of laughs outta this one!
Love the sweater ;)
I think you would really enjoy Gigatron. Although an important part is the double meaning on the lyrics, I think you could give them a go. Viking Boogey is a supercool tune. And yes, is spanish. Great reaction, as usual!
"By sunlight, we ride ten thousand side by side!" There is almost always a Manowar reference in every Nanowar song, go figure.
They play with reggaeton and blacker concepts
Hipotermia - cubalibre
Midnight - sun
Sommer - fiesta at
Ragnarok - beach
This is such a fun song. I think you need to do more NanowaR of Steel
Looked for the band on I think a Touch Tunes jukebox awhile back to play "Gargoyle." No luck. It does however have a lot of Powerwolf.
I love how there's something hanging on your wall Of Nanowar of Steel
🤘🤘🤘
My mom loves it lmfao…she loves Reggae…I like Metal…it’s the perfect combo for ilia to vibe to…
Man, i had to watch the original Video to confirm, the one guy wirh tje Horns is Charlie Glamour, the singer of "Gigatron" a Spanisch comedy metal Band witch i love. They do lots of cover and original songs, making kind of fun of metal chliches. This is great man, i knew i know him when i watched it on your reaction 😂. Maybe you want to do some reaction of Gigatron? They are fun as hell! Try viking boogie for example.
