Loved the 4 part series! I shouldn't have, because I want more pens. My collection is getting formidable, and my hubby who shares the hobby with me, is thinking we need to slow down! Thanks for being an inspiration!

Hi Lynn -- at the point I was making those videos I was already knowing that I needed to slow down!!!!!! :) It did help to SEE everything in big collections like that!!!! I'm intending this (2022) will be my year to purchase only a very few pens!!!! No matter how inexpensive ... I need to have time to rotate and write with each pen and at this point my "collection" is a bit unwieldy!!!!!

Echoing what others have said - a great collection and very enjoyable to watch. More importantly though is all that you teach us. I know these videos were a lot of work, as was the inventory, so I really appreciate your sharing this with us.

I loved this series. I like that I just found them, because I hate to wait for the next video. You do a great job and I really love your enthusiasm. I thought I liked a fine nib, but your reasons for wanting a larger nib made me think, and pretty ink should be shown off. Happy Days! We will concur this crisis together.

Hi Chris, i just binge on all 4 of your collection:Wow! I've started to need/want (or maybe the other way around) to inventory my collection. It started out with just a few, but the isolation of the pandemic had me spending more time on you tube and buying more pens 🤷‍♀️. I will try the google docs this afternoon . Great videos.

Hi Ann-Ingrid -- I made those videos partly to STOP myself from buying more pens. After that I did add the Opus 88s but I've been much more careful ... it's embarrassing how many I acquired in the first few years back in the hobby. :) Google Docs really helped me get them all listed ... ! Good luck to you and happy inventorying!!!

At the start of this year, I sold every pen I owned that was worth a hundred dollars or more. It came to a few more pens than you have. I wanted to start over, and I'm very glad I did. We didn't know Covid was going to be such a problem, but we've had the money to cover everything because I sold those pens.
I kept the cheap pens because the buyer didn't want those. I didn't have many, but I do have several Metropolitans, and the Pop Purple is one of my favorite pens. It has been since I bought it. I have medium nibs on all the Metropolitans, and the width is perfect for me. So is the flow. Using the cheap pens, the Metropolitan, the TWSBI ECO and especially the TWSBI 580ALR, the Cross Bailey, and a few other brands in this price range, made me realize how much I enjoy writing with such pens.
I still prefer soft gold nibs for long writing sessions, For me, they do make a difference when writing for hours at a time, but I also love writing with these cheaper pen. Despite being financially drained dry by Covid, I did put back enough to buy my three favorite go anywhere, do anything, cheap enough to lose gold nib pens, a 3776, a Custom 74, and a 1911L.
I'll have to buy the very few other gold nib pens I want as, and if, money permits. There aren't many. A Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age, a Scribo Feel, and a Conway Stewart, though I'm not sure of the model I most want.
Starting over has been even more fun than I thought it would be, despite Covid draining us dry. Or maybe because of it. I can't just buy whatever I want and hope it's worth keeping, but this just makes it more fun.
Then I see a collection like yours and I have thoughts of building up again. I really don't want to do that. At my age I just want the handful of gold nibs, I love and will use day in and day out, and spend more time and money on inexpensive pens just for the fun of it.
I really, really like your collection. It looks like a lot more fun than mine was. That's what I'm after now. Pens I can and will write with every day for my five hours stretches, and even more pens I use, but that are for pure fun.
And ink, I guess. I already have more ink than I could use in a lifetime, with more coming every week, mostly than to you. Between your ink reviews and the doggone unmentionable site with all those beautiful inks on it, I'm buying inks I didn't even know existed. One of your last videos made me order three new red inks, which I certainly didn't need, but the two that arrived yesterday were beautiful, and the Red Dragon is coming tomorrow. Bah, humbug.
Sorry to ramble on so much. Really good video here, and ty\he ones you're doing right now are wonderful, and informative. Too informative, I think. I keep buying inks because of them.

I really overbought the Chinese pens in the early days. Now I still love the X750s but some of the 599s are just irritating to me. Once I found TWSBI pens were so reliable it changed things for me!!!!
Oops sorry I am such a bad ink enabler!!! :)

Leica is a German lens and camera manufacturer. Chris rap does this letter swapping a lot. I believe what you have there is a Moonman Lecai, since replaced in their range by the Moonman M2 and Moonman Wancai (some guess it may be pronounced like one-CHAY). Chris Rap liked the first model, but not the two that replaced it, though in general the Moonman range is excellent and almost always wins high ratings in his reviews.

Chris, if I could only follow one "fountain pen" or "ink" channel, it would be yours. Sometimes I think your videos are a little long, but I watch (and learn) anyway. Your collection mirrors mine in many ways; I have tons of Jinhao pens. 😊 I’m guessing I have about 250 pens in my collection. (I think I have all the shark and swan pens which I bought mainly to give away.) My favorites are my Lamy and Pilot pens, but also my Kaweco, TWSBII, and other quality pens. I absolutely love a pen that will write well even after sitting unused for months. I’ve recently decided to stop buying pens so randomly (and cheaply) and concentrate on more expensive pens (and ink). More in the $200-$500 range. Naturally I won’t be buying many of these. I intend to keep be on the lookout for great values that come along, the Amazon Basics fountain Pens, for example, recently released. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with them. So keep up the good work. I especially enjoy your ink reviews. They’re the best. Be safe; stay healthy.

@@ChrisSaenz13 I use dip pens, steel and glass, about as often as I use fountain pens. I've tried a lot of brands of glass pens, and it seems like pure hit or miss to me. I have expensive ones that are so rough they won't write without a couple of hours of work on the nib, and I have three dollar ones that write as well as a steel nib dip pen, or a fountain pen.
I recently bought a pack of three off Amazon, and pain eight dollars. All three are very, very smooth and will write about six sentences before the words start getting a little faint.
They don't even have a brand name that I can find, and I apparently bought the last pack because they're unavailable now, and the company isn't expecting to deliver more. I mention these just to show you don't always have to pay very much money to get a good glass dip pen.
I've had extremely good glass pens that cost a dollar, and completely unusable ones that cost thirty dollars. The really nice thing about cheaps nes is that it doesn't hurt if you have to buy five or six to get one really good one. It also doesn't hurt nearly as much when you break the tip on one, which I'm notorious for doing.

Nice collection (over all your videos)! I'm debating whether I should purchase a flex pen just to get the experience and not miss out... Do you have any experience with affordable flex pens? Hi READComment1 - I have just my Noodler's Ahab in the flex nib department ... so I don't have a much experience at all really. I've tinkered with mine a little bit to see what it could do and it does lay down the ink very heavy on the down strokes - which then affects dry times but it can create some pretty letters if I take my time! I like how the Ahab writes even when I don't flex it.
