1:20..I'd bury that 599 Jinhao fountain pen, in my backyard Pen Cemetary and get a replacement for only $3 on Canadian Amazon ...Or you could buy the 8 fountain pens for $21 ..but hey...you have given it character, and gauranteed that no one , will want to steal it, with your DIY Pen Surgery ..lol
    2:40...Your not alone...90% of buyers don't find that triangular grip , disagreeable..lol
5:34...Loving your DIY mods on your Pen Purchases. WELL Done !! ✒🖋😎👍

You're a low gripper with an odd triangular grip, so I can see why a pen with a larger section diameter would be more comfortable for you. Glad you found the X159!

Given your unusual grip I’d strongly suggest trying the new Jinhao 9019. Same big nib as the X159 with an unusually chunky section. It has quickly become one of my favorite pens.

@karlpmueller - Yes re: the 9019 recommendation (its section is about 2mm wider than the X159's!)

That Jinhao 65 grip is really ingenious.

Just purchased 9x 777 pens for about $AU 11.00 and they’re excellent. But the stars for me are the X750 and X159. The X750 is my go-to but neither requires posting IMHO. The X159 appears to be powder-coated metal as with the X750 and is also a smooth writer, and I love the weight. The size factor is a bonus with my slightly arthritic hands too.
I also have a couple of Centennial 100 pens just for the premium look, and one came with the extra-fine nib which is lovely but too fine for me.
They are indeed superb and Jinhao has produced some quality products for budget prices. They’re inexpensive enough to collect on a whim from Temu. I will be buying more. 👍🏻

If you like the Jinhao x159, try the Jinhao 82, it is my favourite Jinhao pen

Isn't the 82 quite narrow and small? The 9019 might be more suited and is similar to the x159

I found the 82 to be scratchy! Did you find it smooth or do you prefer a bit toothy pens?

If you like the x750 but want a grippier grip, try the x450. It's basically an x750 with a textured grip section.

I'm very new to the world of Jinhaos and I love their giant 9019. I wanna get the 9053 but compared to the 9019 ($3.50 US for us) is super cheaper compared to the 53. Same nib, same size just one is made of wood and there are versions with a brass cap. Unexpectedly smooth writer too!

I've been using the jinhao 80 EF for a few months. It's got a 0.38 mm nib. It's so light and writes so much more smoothly than any other similarly nibbed pen I've used.
So, I've ordered FIVE 0.3mm J80s. I hope to use them as my EDCs in different colours to write in my Journal/ organiser. I'm shocked how good this pen is; much more practical than any Parker, Schaefer, Scriveiner or even Lamy that I've used, though I really like the Lamy Safari and Al-Star.

I have a Jinhao 80 too! I only have one at the moment (Black, Chrome trim) and so far my experience aligns with yours, the Lamy-style extra fine nib is phenomenal, and unlike my other Jinhao pens, this one just worked the moment I filled it up. One of my favorites in the rotation.
How are your other 80s doing? Do they write the same? Are they reliable? Have any of them had QC issues?

My biggest gripe with Jinhao pens is practically all their enamel on metal pens (looking at you 159s, X750s & X450s!) have chipped caps under where the clip contacts the enamel. I imagine this is a manufacturing flaw where they cannot be bothered to wait for the enamel to dry/harden properly! I know they're cheap pens but despite this, the quantity I have bought of them, you'd think it would just be the odd issue, but nope, even when I ask retailers to check before they send (Aliexpress) they still send out chipped caps on their pens! I guess neither the Aliexpress retailers nor Jinhao can be bothered to correct this fault! Such a shame as I LOVE the majority of my Jinhaos & the nibs on the 159s, X750s & X450s etc are really smooth & very comfortable to write with plus I love the different finishes they offer! Such a bummer! x

I highly highly recommend you try the Jinhao 82.
It appears to be a Sailor Pro Gear mimic of sorts.

That’s unfortunate that you are so limited in which pens you can comfortably use! I think you may be uptight, holding onto the pen as if it’s going to be snatched from your hold. I just Love the Jinhao 80, as I’m retired and cannot afford a Lamy 2000. I think they’ve done a wonderful job on these dupes, hats off to them. Also, I’m always very careful how tight I screw them back on, as so many are plastic and can be ruined easily- treat them tenderly, respect them. They may be cheap, but if you abuse a cheap pen, you will do the same when you buy an expensive one! Like allowing a child to walk all over the old, worn out couch, guess what will happen when you can now afford that very pricey new couch…..yep, because he never learned respect. I think it’s Crazy how the Lamy dupes come with converters, but buy a Lamy Safari for about $30. And it has no converter Or cartridge…..shame on them!

jinhao x750. While it looks good and writes ok, I would not recommend it. The nib dries out quickly and the cap tend to come off easily.
