Open both sides of the tomato paste can. It'll slowly drop out of the can Then use however much you need and freeze the rest in a little container. Next use, cut a slice of tomato paste with a sharp knife. It thaws pretty quickly in your hot pan.

Same tip in terms of the can opening at each end, but I generally portion the rest of a can into a piece of saran wrap. Roll in into a tube, like a sausage, and twist the ends as well as in a couple segments. Throw it in the freezer till needed. Cut off a little schnitzel and toss it right into the hot sauce. Not TOO hot, like boiling, but hot enough to thaw and release the saran wrap in a single piece. Trying to do it the way that seemed to make sense, but unwrapping it BEFORE dropping in into the sauce meant the plastic didn't release in 1 piece, and it began making a mess as I tried to separate the paste from the plastic.

Also I just checked your Amazon list and thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!!!! for having some awesome inserts for the instant pot. I’ll be getting pretty much all of them lol. I wish I could also share two items I saw on another ip page but it’s a pan that could do your meatloaf but she did an enchilada dish and then a rubber thing that goes around it with handles so you can get it out when it’s done and also still put water in bottom of the ip and now burn the dish to the bottom of the pot. Thanks man and I love all your delicious food ideas!!!

Made this for my birthday dinner along with side salad and toast.
Btw, a trick with the tomato paste is to cut open BOTH ends and then remove the top lid, and use the bottom lid to push it completely out of the can without having to fight with scraping the sides

I just made this! Oh my goodness, it is so good! The pasta is cooked to perfection and I also used thighs because they have more flavor! A little trick for getting tomato paste out of the can is to use a "butta" knife! But I also like Carol Taylor's idea too!

EASY tomato paste. Open both ends of the little can. Remove one top and then push on the remaining lid and there you go. Be sure to remove the lid you pushed on. I also keep a very narrow rubber scraper to clean out the last bits in the can. Butter chicken is one of my absolute favorite dishes.

This looks good! Unfortunately I can't do the butter or cream. Not to worry! I know this may defeat the purpose of the dish but I plan to use coconut oil in place of the butter and just omit the cream! I may or may not add the coconut milk. I have used that before, but we'll see how I feel this coming weekend or if we're not lucky, off day of Sunday. It looks good!!! But then, every recipe of yours that I have chosen to make has been fantastic!! As always, my very best to you, Richard, and Banjo! Take care!

@J G Yep! All my life! Back in school our only choices for drinks with lunch were milk or the drinking fountain so I learned to eat without drinking. I did make this dish like I said and it was great!!! If dairy is in something like milk in a baked good or something like that but not butter or cheese and I can't taste it I'm fine! I can eat chocolate ice cream just fine but butter, cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, etc. are all no good. I love Taco Bell and Jack in the Box but have to get everything without cheese and sour cream.

Tomato paste comes in tubes. They sell different versions too - either with sun dried tomatoes or plain. It’s in the section with pasta sauces. I never buy cans anymore. They are a pain. You can’t get it out and then how to store it so it doesn’t go bad? You have to scoop it out into an ice cube tray and freeze it in cubes. Then you forget you have it in the freezer. Get yourself some tubes! Shoprite sells it. If they do then any store does. I’ve seen it in Job Lot too and at Big Lots.
