I can very much relate to the "experiencing reality as a prison" idea. It's as if you were stuck in a game where you perpetually lose and where your needs simply aren't ever met, which in turn makes you crave solace in some form of mindless escapism or just unconsciousness. Your child self always craves that form of creative joy that normal adult life lacks because everything in it is so fucking boring and bleak.
I have struggled majorly with puer eternis, or Peter pan syndrome, my whole life. I'm 25 years old now and just realized this phenomenon. I'm looking for solutions, and this is the ONE video that has given me possible solutions. I don't feel like a man. I am a boy in a man's body. Any extra advice you can offer to me to help? Thank you.
Hey my friend, you are lucky! I found out about it when I was 30, but I didn't really understand it until I was almost 60! My two-bit youtube comment advice would be to form a deep and loving relationship with someone (maybe even starting with your own inner child as the video above suggests). Follow your heart to the kind of work you want to do, and stick with it. When you encounter resistance, whether in your own mind or in the world, figure out a way to push through instead of retreating. All the best to you!
@@loveyourself1803 Then you've just got to support yourself some other way. Even if you can't get what you want, you can get what you need. You've just gotta deal with life as it comes. No whining! :)
@@loveyourself1803 as you do the work of re-parenting yourself, authentic desires and passions previously unknown will reveal themselves to you. I'm currently working with an inner child therapist, she's great, I recommend finding one, also look into somatic experiencing.. progress is slow and painful but as someone who's battled addiction my whole life I really have no other options but to stick with it.
This was good enough to be useful but I must add that if it were up to me to heal myself and be my own parent I would have done so already but since that is impossible for me to do I don't find it a useful solution. In fact its fuckn useless.
if we all could love ourselves, nurture ourselves, protect ourselves without any form of external stimuli or input we would all be gods wouldnt we? have u seen babies that suffered extreme emotional neglect or deprivation from their parents? we cannot project our conciousness or state of mind outside of ourselves or our minds and direct it inwards as though
It never gets better. You become. More resentful as. You become More aware of it.
