ikr the most annoying part for me was that fkin kengeri board like wha-!? who was the genius who thought of that!? i used to transfer from green line to purple line everyday so i walked passed it everyday and it messed with me, im so happy finally someone covered it lmao
Already posted it on group, you are so chronically online dude , 😂😂. Anyways say hi to jaya on behalf of me the next time you see her at the metro station.
Wanted to say the same thing the first time I transfered between green and purple lines, but kept my mouth shut thinking I didn't have the required IQ 😂.
Ayy yes it’s not just you, people often tend to blame themselves for problems that are actually caused by poor design. You should check out this book called ‘The Design of Everyday Things’ it explains all this in a lot of detail :)
Not a daily commuter but want to share some observation. Lot of stations aren't accessibility friendly. Think of getting on/off any station with a wheelchair or other aids. None of the station have safety barriers. Now, don't say London or NY subway does not have them either (those suck harder) Majestic station passages has good real estate for ads that could get additional revenue help offset some maintenance cost.
Several cities globally adopt a strategy of not installing seats in their MRT/Metro/Subway systems to encourage continuous movement among commuters, preventing stagnation of the crowd and potentially serving as a form of anti-homeless urban design.
I felt this same and somehow felt so relieved using CMRL. Signages are accurate, There's enough sitting benches, Metro boogie has provision to keep bags above seats, Platform screens at every underground station, and finally good drinking water cum washrooms + affordable Parking facility at most stations.. try Central CMRL park station and some comparison should provide so much interest like this video 👍
To be honest the bad signage is a symptom of bad station layout. Transferring between platforms is a huge pain due to chokepoints between staircases, especially on the green line platform. But since the layout can’t be significantly changed the only cure is a better designed signage.
Metro rail Dept should also has an assessment on "User friendlyness" post inauguration and should update and upgrade stations accordingly ... They can do it cost free by youtubers like him..As Bengaluru is city with more than 40% diversified population of other state people it will be much helping one... There should be proper signage in station to guide commuters..
you forgot about the walk-ability aspect: 1. For all the entrances and exits, all paths are herding towards the same corner. 2. Why the big entrance facing North Karnataka KSRTC platform is blocked? 3. No easy way to travel from BMTC bus stand to metro station.
Majestic exposed, Majestic sucks😅 But water kiosks are 👌🏾 Love this simple break-down of the station's design, signage, space, and user experience. Also, I learnt a few new design terms, which means I can define public infrastructure better 😊 Good going - looking forward to the next in the series!
Well done. I have suffered through all the points you raised. Especially the access to ksrtc bus stop which should be the easiest is atrocious and poor signs makes that 10 times worse.
2:15 it’s forbidden to put up benches in metro. No country does that. all platforms are designed with fluid dynamics, as crowd flow roughly behaves same as that of fluid.
Yes, it really sucks. We were going round and round following signages when we have to change from purple line to green line ... thanks for doing this. hope metro authorities wake up and make signages more sensible
I remember for the first time I spent nearly 30mins search for a toilet in Majestic , There was sign boards everywhere with no direction, it was bit awkward to ask for direction with passerby.
I don’t live in Bengaluru but happened to be there last year for a week and decided to use the metro. I took a BMTC bus to reach the Majestic bus terminal and then started walking towards the Majestic Metro station. It was tough to reach the metro station as well from the bus platforms as there weren’t any proper signs guiding a passenger towards the station. After reaching the metro station, to get down towards the platforms was a greater nightmare. I am a frequent rider of the Delhi metro and Kolkata metro and I always prefer to use either stairs or the escalators and very rarely take lift. After reaching the majestic metro station it was so difficult to reach the platforms due to the confusing arrows pointing towards the lifts. The first time I even reached the wrong platform.
ah yes the journey from majestic bus terminal to metro station, its just depressing and very very piss smelling ngl. im sorry u had trouble with the lift thing, as a daily commuter i am always puzzled seeing that nonsense, frustrates me thinking which idiot approved that xD
I’ve lived in Delhi for 3 years and Rajiv Chowk is the equivalent of Majestic for Delhi. Things are so better there and my first visit to Majestic was a nightmare, taking all those escalators just to get to the other side of the platform.
i do not think adding many (but a few is fine) benches on platform would help as people will still want to get in line for faster on boarding. what to do u commuters ???
that would make life of citizens easy.. no way that's going to happen. I bet my networth if any politicians can successfully transfer from purple to green without getting confused.
Will take time to watch your content, good that you have pointed out the loopholes, too many languages in India and especially on sign boards should be controlled, and provide better infrastructure
No seating didn't even occur to me!! I just automatically assume that the seats on the platform will be occupied and head to the stairs to sit. Signage throughout Green line sucks. Also it took me ages to figure out where the toilet was, from Green line platform to the toilet is such a long and confusing hike. Toilets are a big problem in most metro stations, not just restricted to Bangalore.
on frequent use you will develop a certain familiarity with the station that helps you ignore all its flaws but yes, valid points. it would have been better to include the notes on transfer difficulties in the same video. find more content, video was short.
I think low seating capacity is intentional - to discourage people from spending more time than required. (Security on the platform question you if you miss a train and ask you to leave if you don't board the next train too)
Travelling everyday since 3 years. Still messed up many times. The only reason i survive is i use some direction cheat codes for my everyday travel. The day i have to travel somewhere else this code screws me up
I agree at the transfer between both lines signage confused me the first time .but i have had the same confusion in other countries too . The signage seems to be two or three people having different POV and having all of it approved as signage. To some extent it also has to do with how the exits and transfers are designed
Majestic metro station is genuinely a nightmare to navigate through, the first week I had to switch trains from green to purple i would climb all the way to the ground floor and then go back down the other way to get to the biyappanhalli line 🥲 The point about seating is so true, the benches they have are no where near enough.
The entire Bengaluru metro is poorly designed and implemented. BMRCL and Bengaluru Municipal corporation along with BDA are most inefficient and corrupt govt body in the country . Engineering , Planning , Architecture decisions are made babus . I can write ✍️ an essay on Bengaluru Metro project highlighting the poor planning and execution.
Brother this is Metro station not a Railway station...here metro will come to platform for every 4 mins .........i hope a Human can stand for 4 mins.....& Not provided more benches just bcs of time passers vloggers will spend make the spot as a Chilllout 😢 place ......& Metro station are designed & meant to be free flow Train & Human's as well ...& I appreciate for your Sign Board PHD.......😂
One minute silence for commuters who accidentally ended up on Baiyappanahalli platform but wanted to go towards Kengeri
so many times there is literally no signage to indicate how do we get to the other side
Every time I enter this station it feels like I am entering it for the first time
ikr
the most annoying part for me was that fkin kengeri board like wha-!? who was the genius who thought of that!?

@@aryanram02Yo nice to see you here aryan , first time seeing you outside of SBA south bangalore whatsapp .

Need more urban planning videos in India man
You’re in the right room sir stick around, many more coming soon
On point and no BS. Please keep doing more for of these kind of videos. There is not a single channel that talks about urban planning in India.
Wanted to say the same thing the first time I transfered between green and purple lines, but kept my mouth shut thinking I didn't have the required IQ 😂.

Plus points for song usage 🤣
Best 💥💥💥
Broo hahah it was clearly the only option 🚍🚍🚍
Several cities globally adopt a strategy of not installing seats in their MRT/Metro/Subway systems to encourage continuous movement among commuters, preventing stagnation of the crowd and potentially serving as a form of anti-homeless urban design.
Your channel must have got 10K-25K subs by now, keep up with such amazing candid, fun & educational content!
It's so important to talk about urban planning in India. It feels like an added treat when these videos are so well produced. Keep going!
I felt this same and somehow felt so relieved using CMRL. This is so true. Every one struggles here for interchange/ exit

Really constructive effort to improve the systems which take people for granted keep it up

Ayy so glad you learnt something!
the content we need
Continue making other videos too, on reviewing the places. This was good.
i just came across ur channel man , u deserve more

WE NEED MORE OF THESE REVIEWS
Finally someone is talking about this, thanks😅
You missed regarding stairs, how complex design it is
Yes, it really sucks.

Finally someone said it! This is the most confusing station. J have been there 4 times and still it is confusing. Chaos by thr staff.
Plus you should see the see the Peenya metro station. You will realise why they are taking so much time to construct a metro station.

This is what happens when the people who design public transport are not the people who use them...
Everytime I enter the Majestic metro station it feels like it’s my first time there.
And thanks for saying what everyone feels.
It sucks !!
Love your channel man. Really.
Still waiting for the follow up video... Why the purple and green line transport doesnt work
I’ve lived in Delhi for 3 years and Rajiv Chowk is the equivalent of Majestic for Delhi. Things are so better there and my first visit to Majestic was a nightmare, taking all those escalators just to get to the other side of the platform.

what to do u commuters ???
Fantastic Video. Song selection on point.😀 BMRCL could've planned the station in a better way.
2:20 wht u told is wrong.... U will know y if u are in that platform between 8 am to 10 am
Why not just put coloured path lines on the floor guiding the platform/exits
that would make life of citizens easy.. no way that's going to happen.
I bet my networth if any politicians can successfully transfer from purple to green without getting confused.
Will take time to watch your content, good that you have pointed out the loopholes, too many languages in India and especially on sign boards should be controlled, and provide better infrastructure
Same is the problem with Nagpur's Sitabuldi Metro Station. It's not as big as the one shown in the video but quite confusing. Please visit there too.
Awesome work bro.
Same here I end up exiting the wrong way every time I wanted to go towards the foot over bridge side.....
Here for infotainment + meme-worthy BGM 😂🔥
Bruh, Ee haadu yelli hudukali?

They can check that when they wnter the railway station too right
Bro you guys are doing god’s work. But is someone really doing anything about it or are we just moving on just like we always do after a tragedy?
the explanation is on point
Nice video buddy!
Travelling everyday since 3 years. Still messed up many times. The only reason i survive is i use some direction cheat codes for my everyday travel. The day i have to travel somewhere else this code screws me up
Multiple times I've ender up on the other side of majestic metro station and had to walk all the way around to get to the bmtc bus station.
End song masth😂😂😂
the kannada translation on the sign boards seems like taken directly from Google🙄 translator 0:17
We should blame ourselves for that. Most Kannadigas today speak Kannada with English words. Eg- 'Try maadi', 'Door haaki', 'wait maadi' etc.
@ku5285 ಹೌದು 😔
Good one ✌️💯
I always ask for directions!! It sucks so badly..
First time I came to Makestic Metro Station, I was soo confused and lost. I thought I was dumb lol
Same goes for Esplanade metro station of Kolkata, which is slightly better.
Nice song 😂
love it!
Majestic is the most confusing station.
It's a puzzle for me
yes
am bengalurian and knows kannada and its always confusing in this station.
I agree at the transfer between both lines signage confused me the first time .but i have had the same confusion in other countries too . Banga runs in the end 😅 !
Lolol

The point about seating is so true, the benches they have are no where near enough.
The worst bit about the station is they have gates installed to the men’s room. If you’ve to take a wee, you’ve to actually tap in. What a joke!
Which is okay. It then becomes a public washroom, that too in an area like majestic - it’ll ge doomed
I think you're Indian not just bikes
Everything banglore does is so half assed xD
The entire Bengaluru metro is poorly designed and implemented.

Actually the more you show bad engineering or architecture it will start to improve as Urban planners will know they will be shamed in TH-cam.
Stop providing for no eyes people😊
Hostile Architecture
True. Sign boards are misguiding us. When i visited for the first time, got confused and wasted 10 mins in understanding the interchange
