    Thank you so much for your videos. I delivered my baby at 37 weeks a month ago during this Covid-19 quarantine. During labor I listened to your Affirmation Meditations on repeat. The powerful words and your soothing voice helped me stay calm a difficult labor without having my mom or a doula present (due to hospital restrictions). Thank you so much!

    From a sleep perspective, being too hot or too cold can be the culprit to wakes at night and can quite often be overlooked so it is super important to help our babies to sleep safely and comfortably. Thanks so much for the great tips!

    My mom always says to dress the baby in one layer more than yourself, but this makes more sense. I think overheating will be more of an issue considering our apartment's lack of AC and the fact that she'll be born in the middle of summer. I really hope that it won't become an issue!

    Could you do a video on securely sitting baby in a car seat? I’m always paranoid that I have the harnesses wrong no matter how much I research!

    • @officialbrittanyamber
      @officialbrittanyamber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Emma Powell there are a couple things you can do to know if baby is secure. The clip should be in the middle of baby’s chest. If you move the seat side to side; it shouldn’t move more than an inch. And you should be able to fit your fingers under the strap to make sure it’s not to tight, however you shouldn’t be able to grab the belt and bunch it up because that would mean it’s too loose. (That might be hard to understand without demonstrating) but I hope that helps :)

      Personal assessment is so subjective though - I'm always cold and regularly wear an extra layer whereas my husband runs warm and usually needs a light jacket. How can we check on how the baby is feeling?

  • @Oi_Le
    @Oi_Le ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! I’m a first time mom and my baby gets sweaty on his little feet at times. Another note is that my mom - his grandma, keeps telling me he is cold because he often has hiccups and that’s NOT the case! Hiccups is not a sign of feeling cold. We reside in Hawaii and it gets pretty hot at times. Around the house, I’m in shorts and a nursing bra- while baby is on diapers only!

    First time mama due in January! What’s a good outfit to bring baby home from the hospital? A layered outfit? something more simple? I live in Canada so the winters are cold, however I live 5 min from the hospital so it’s a fast drive home and my husband can maybe heat up the car ahead of time

    I needed this video so much!! My family are telling me that since babies cannot regulate their own temperature, they should be wearing more layers than an adult because they get cold faster. I haven’t been able to find if this is true and I was questioning if I should have my baby in jammies all day even if it’s a bit warm. This video answered all my questions! Thank you!❤️

    My doctor said to dress the baby for the environment, but thinking about how you would feel if you're not doing anything. If I'm working in 70 degrees, I'm plenty warm. If I'm just sitting around in 70 degrees, I might feel chilly. Dress your baby as if they are inactive according to whatever temperature you're in.

    • @neeks2210

    • @officialbrittanyamber
      @officialbrittanyamber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Destinee Garcia you can get breathable swaddles like the muslin swaddles or if it’s really hot, dress the baby very light under the swaddle!😊

    • @halirossi-wilkins9846
      @halirossi-wilkins9846 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I highly recommend never swaddling. It suppresses their natural reflexes, and it can lead to sleep disorders later on in life. It’s also very comforting for babies to have their hands by their face, and sucking on fingers helps them develop eating skills:) follow @ontrackbaby on Instagram for more tips! I love that page.

    I live in Texas and will be having my baby any day now. I basically avoided getting long sleeves and thick clothes for up to 3 months since I know our summers are insanely hot and he definitely shouldn't need any bundling up until late fall, early winter. I did get a few JIC there's any "cold" days, but it's extremely unlikely lol

  • @drnostalgia1
    @drnostalgia1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Usually the recommendation is to dress baby in one more layer than you not the same. Also the best sign of baby being cold is how their hands and feet feel to touch so ignoring this is bit weird. For heat, warm hands and feet and a sweaty head and red cheeks. And overall fussiness especially the older they get.
    I usually like your videos but this one was a bit of a miss

    With the warmer months, my baby is due end of May. It gets very hot where I’m located. So when we go outside should I just do a onsie and a diaper and a hat? How do you protect the baby from the sun or what is an appropriate time frame to be outside? Example is if I take the dog for a walk we are usually outside for about 20 minutes. Is that too long for a baby around 2 months old if it is 80 out?

    Can you run the AC in your room with the baby? She will be on my bedside in a bassinet and I'm due in August, when it'll be very hot. I don't think I could sleep without the AC but I will for the baby if I have to.

      A KW I think as long as you keep it above 68 it should be okay. I have a 7 month old currently in my room with my AC running and she is perfectly comfy. You will probably need the AC cause of the after labor mom sweats. No one told me about those 😅

    I've read so many articles on this subject and watched so many videos that I know what they are going to say in advance. And yet I still don't feel confident that I actually understand how to dress my future newborn. At this point, phrases like 'two layers' and 'dress your baby like you're dressed plus a layer' are just catchphrases to me, I'm not sure how to translate them into an actual situation, so they're not very helpful.

    This is something I’m worrying about... I’m a really warm blooded person and hardly ever get cold.. if it were up to me I would have all my windows open even when raining as I prefer a fresh house and if I’m a bit chilly I prefer putting more layers on instead of putting heating up as an overly warm place makes me feel claustrophobic and panicky.. My house is usually 18c to 19c.. never any higher that that really, so I’m worrying about when baby comes... Will I just have to put my general heating up to say 20c?! Any help would be much appreciated 🌞😂🌿🙏 thank you xx

      Generally you shouldnt put anything in a cot at all, not even a pillow or loose blanket. Bumpers look nice but I would remove then when the cot is actually in use. It also depends how old your baby is though!

      That's like the number one thing if you simply google it.... It can kill your baby. Never do that ever.

    Hey Mommas? Ok I guess Dad just really aren’t trying to learn anything. I bet she blames her husband all the time for not trying to help out and then goes on to make videos only addressing women on how to be better parents.

      Orrr her man is too busy earning some money for the family. Instead of searching online trying to learn how to be a mommy. Because men don't have boobs for feeding. 🤔

      @@artsyterra8350 Too busy making money bc he works hard and not smart? Bc he doesn’t have a well enough paying job or investments that makes money while he sleeps? So he has to work hard now and be an absent Dad who doesn’t care enough to learn more about what Moms have to go through or just how to be a better Dad or partner in general? Yeah ok. Class dismissed.
