I finally did it and very happy with results and the recommended parts worked great ! Diagrams we're not needed but I did have to pull my head out of my a** and I did a lot of mock up with the battery and the handlebar switch and a light. Thanks for a good tutorial!
I’m slow in learning this, could you walk me through the process a little slower on what wires to run to the spark plug and the capacitor and the tusk battery? Also so does the battery now get a constant charge? What rear light is that?
Got the regulator/rectifier spliced in started bike fine ..spliced in battery and capacitor , started bike , was reving bike a little when snap capacitor blew out explosively! No pos or neg marked on these capacitors ..thoughts, ideas
I have an ‘80 XR 500. I put a 6v LED in the headlight and it worked for a while. Then the headlight burned out and it burned out my taillight, but the brake light still works. I put back the stock headlight and now the taillight works / brakes fine. But when I brake, my headlight dims. I thought I blew the 6v regulator, so I bought another unit and I get the same results. Do you have any ideas? Please help 😢
I'm working on a 82 XR500R going over to 12v. I have my 12v power working good but at low rpm have the light shutter problem. Seems like your battery and capacitor fix this. I was wanting to know if you could send me a wiring diagram. Thank you for your time
Were you able to complete the 12v conversion on your xr500 ? I have a 83 xr500r im wanting to do the same thing to it. If you have any diagrams I could follow I would greatly appreciate the help
Followup to exploding capacitor..the oval mark on these capacitors indicates negative. Good thing Amazon sends you six of these..rehooked it up , started the bike , and I think I've got DC and the battery is charging. Next I've got to try and figure out the handlebar switch , horn, lights, etc
Hi Patrick. Great video btw. Im doing this to my xr this week. I bought a tusk enduro kids a rectifier and capacitor. I don't know exactly where to splice in tge capacitor though. Im new to the electoral world. Do i attach it to the harness after the fuse?
Great video for a weekend sparky but anyone on here got any suggestions for an idiot like me just wants to put in an after market LED globe and have it be a bit brighter?
It's a 3s pack (11.1v nominal), does it have any trouble receiving 14.5v or whatever the regulator outputs? I was thinking about trying this with a 4s pack instead since the nominal voltage is much closer to what the charging system outputs.
Hi Patrick, thank you for sharing this video, I would like to know: What's the differences between stock regulator and the aftermarket? That lithium battery charge with the engine generator or you need charge it before running? I have XR650R with out battery and wondering to add one.

I noticed you can switch the light on and off and also hi and low beam. My stock 202 XR400R does not have a switch for any of that. When I start the bike the light comes on. Any thoughts on that? Also, does the battery need a regulator so that it does not over charge??
Awesome Video, I noticed your passenger footpegs screwed into factory bolt spots. Can you send me where you got those pegs from, been trying to find a decent passenger peg so my 8 yr old son can ride along. Thanks for the video, i may eventually change my headlight. My kx250f stator only puts out 45W would that be enough?

I just bought an LED bulb off. Amazon stuck it in the socket and it works just fine. Off the stock stater
It will work but it will burn up the led’s eventually
