The Bruce Wayne you guys are seeing in this movie it’s the young Bruce. He has not grown into his family name and the power it truly hold and that is why is so distant in doing Wayne business matters yet. Also in the movie it’s his second year of being Batman so yeah😂
@@YoGirlSeko nope ...This movie was highly Over rated movie by fanboys....There's no Bruce Wayne persona,no duality,Catwoman wasted, has no character, the Riddler is a patchwork of better movie killers with actual plans, Penguin's character is in the movie for literally no reason other than a false car chase that meant nothing in the end, Alfred is immune to explosions, Batman is immune to explosions, Gordon is only on screen to read things out loud for Batman or to play Captain Obvious, there's absolutely no real detective work going on since they just believe everything the last guy said yet half of the 3 hours is spent on detective thriller homage scenes, the third act (or fifth act, I dunno) makes no sense and has no place in the film at all bcoz it turned into another film and the villian's motivation changed just so we could have some big set piece for the final act.
Undoubtedly one of the best things about this film is the room it has left for potential growth, for both Batman and Bruce Wayne. It isn't a character arc we've seen done before on the big screen. Bale went straight in as the charasmatic playboy. This is more gradual and makes more sense to me. It's exciting.
@@riolkin Me too. I'm looking forward to seeing how his tech evolves as well. I wonder whether Lucious Fox will make an appearance in the Battinson films.
@@Tazza19931 Before the cast list had come out for this movie I had fan-casted Jeffery Wright as an ideal actor for the next Fox. The guy plays smart so well. But seeing him as Gordon was better, he had great on-screen chemistry with Robert.
The most important moment in this movie is when Bruce hears one of the Riddler's henchmen use his signature line, "I'm vengeance". That is the moment Bruce realizes that he can't be JUST fighting for vengeance as The Batman, but also needs to be a beacon of hope as Bruce Wayne. I thought this was a perfect portrayal of Bruce when he's first starting out and hasn't realized how to use his Bruce Wayne persona for good yet.
YES!!! I loved that moment! I wish they hadn't skipped it in their reaction edit. :( That line was worth the entire movie, and to see his reaction to it.
I can't get enough of how perfect his casting is, not just as the Riddler, but as a grimdark version of Frank Gorshin's Riddler straight out of the '60s. Paul Dano's resemblance to a young Frank Gorshin is uncanny, and it's only when the Joker puts a sense of humour in him that you start to hear Gorshin's iconic, completely unhinged Riddler laugh start to filter into a character who was angry and humorless all the way along. Everything about this movie, from the young Riddler's ongoing, incomplete growth into the mad laughing Riddler we know, to Batman's recognition that he still needs to develop Bruce Wayne into a fully-fleshed-out cover identity, to his obvious still-present fear of heights, makes this feel like an early-stage Batman that nobod, not even Year One, has given us before. It makes me excited to see more of this, which I guess is how you get a sequel greenlit. Well done on all accounts.
I think Nikki is just used to the older version of Batman. The business guy, well kept, all fancy. 5/6 years into being the Batman. He will get to that phase, but right now he is learning who he is as Bruce Wayne. There's no way to judge Robert as an actor expecting the character he is playing to be a different character.
I have to give Pattinson his dues: He did a much better job than I expected. This was a great "Year Two". Batman still learning as he goes + becoming aware that he can help Gotham just as much as Bruce Wayne, as he can as The Bat.
@@abstractnonsense3253 Yeah, judging Pattinson by his "Edward" role is like judging Jim Carrey by his "Ace Ventura" roles. Just as ridiculous, and two-dimensional. Really only simple movie fans make that kind of judgment upon an actor. Children typically do that. Some people don't grow out of that stage when they become adults.
@@abstractnonsense3253 - Didn't watch any of the Twighlight stuff & have seen him in other things, I just didn't expect him to do such a great job with "The Bat".
One of the best comic book movies in general. A lot of common audiences won't like this because it isn't the non stop CGI action cringe fest, but movies like this, Logan and Joker are what the genre needs. As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned (most popular criticism of the movie), Pattinson did mention that Bruce himself has an arc for 3 movies. Pretty sure we'll see the Philanthropist side of him in the sequel.
The last 45 minutes of this movie was a crapfest. Can't be one of the best comic book movies when 1/3 of it is garbage. The rest of it was mostly great (really don't like Emo Bruce Wayne and didn't love Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman protrayal).
I find it funny how there's fans of comic book films like you that have this mindset of this is real cinema and that isn't because it's not the same type of movie as this movie despite the fact that all of these characters from DC and Marvel are based on comic books originally made for children and expecting a similar type of film for every single one of these characters would get boring quickly I for one appreciate the CGI cringe fest films like Spider-Man no way home and James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movies and the suicide squad because if every film was like Logan, joker and the Batman than people would be miserable and depressed all the time and won't have any fun ever
@@gutsinbadanimation2351 his Batman let’s people keep talking while he says one word phases That’s power someone people will keep talking to try to convince you or Gaige what your thinking. Like when he looks at the boy that lost his dad That remind him when he lost his parents They want you to figure out everything what I got out of it is that Hes hurt and wants vengeance. But he finds out “vengeance” inspire others to do fucked up shit. The guy at the end tells him he’s vengeance and that’s not who he is. So it’s really an origin story to BATMAN.
I think you'll get the more well-kept Bruce Wayne in the future movies now that he seems to realize he has to do more to help the city than just be an instrument of vengeance. When he realizes what he can do as Bruce in addition, he'll clean up his act on that part and become the Bruce most people think of. This is just early Batman before he has fully "grown" up.
One of my favourite parts that wasn't shown here is the shock on his face when one of Riddler's goons also says "I'm vengeance" and he realizes just how much of a negative impact he can have.
The Batman is probably the best Batman movie I've seen, the realism, the story was brilliant, the Riddler...whoa, that guy was great. And the end..? Well, I can't wait for the next one in this franchise.
This movie was just a couple of scenes short of being classified as a "horror" movie, rather than a "superhero" one. The Riddler was just a fancy "serial killer," going around and killing public figures on some twisted path of vengeance. And the overall dark tone of the movie's appearance was also very reminiscent of a slasher flick. This Batman wasn't the best (I'll still love the Nolan trilogy most of all), but it was definitely DIFFERENT! In the same way that "The Joker" was different. Honestly, WB should have slapped a "Black Label" on this film, and they would have gotten away with it.
The story was mid. I'm sorry. Riddler being bootleg zodiac killer isn't anything out of the ordinary. The overall plot is paper thin. It's just the directing and settings are on point. So much that it distracts from how basic the actual plot was.
@@crimsonjedi It's not. A shotgun blast to the chest would have barely caused Superman to blink. With Batman, it knocks him on his ass, and he's completely out of it until he injects himself with pure adrenaline. Batman simply has hardcore bulletproof armor, that can hold of low caliber rifle, and pistol shots. Plus armor over the top of the kevlar that deflects direct hits. And nobody in the film ever tries to shoot him in the face, which mystifies me, because that's the one spot where his skin is exposed!
In year 2, he’s still all VENGEANCE and hasn’t really created the “Bruce Wayne” persona yet. He’s primarily made up of raw fury as this point. Alfred tries to get him to understand this and tap into his humanity. At the end of the film, he starts to get it when he helps the people out of the flood.
This was SUCH a good ass movie. Really love what they did with The Riddler's character and how more noire & gritty this movie's tone was. Really enjoyed this movie & highly recommend! 👍
This movie was highly Over rated movie by fanboys....There's no Bruce Wayne persona,no duality,Catwoman wasted, has no character, the Riddler is a patchwork of better movie killers with actual plans, Penguin's character is in the movie for literally no reason other than a false car chase that meant nothing in the end, Alfred is immune to explosions, Batman is immune to explosions, Gordon is only on screen to read things out loud for Batman or to play Captain Obvious, there's absolutely no real detective work going on since they just believe everything the last guy said yet half of the 3 hours is spent on detective thriller homage scenes, the third act (or fifth act, I dunno) makes no sense and has no place in the film at all bcoz it turned into another film and the villian's motivation changed just so we could have some big set piece for the final act.
I honestly really really disliked this Riddler which is a shame as he is one of my favorite batman villains I was hoping for something a bit different personally.
The way I view it, the “alter ego” was Bruce Wayne, not the Batman. This was the most true-to-comic version of Batman. He was originally billed as “the world’s greatest detective”, and this movie was a true detective movie rather than a superhero movie. The entire casting was genius. Cheers guys!
I think a lot of the comments have addressed this already but this is an early version of Batman (Year 2) and at this point Batman and Bruce are indistinguishable; Being Batman is all Bruce cares about and its deeply impacted his personal life which is practically nonexistant. This Bruce is also still confused about his role as Batman and basically just goes out every night to take out his grief on criminals and as we know his perspective changes by the end of the movie on what Batman needs to be. Riddler was right saying that Batman was the real him, the Bruce persona will come later. If you guys havent already I recommend you read some of the comics that inspired the movie like Year One, Long Halloween, Batman: Ego, No Mans Land. I also recommend Batman: Black Mirror which is Dick Grayson not Bruce, and Court of Owls too just because theyre both good reads.
Paul Dano is an AMAZING actor he really puts his entire entity into his characters that he plays hes amazing in ALL of the movies he plays and he brought his VERY own version of riddler and i love it so much
14:03 I totally get *Nikki's* criticism at this point. However, as you said, he's only been _Batman_ two years. And as you saw in the film, his singular goal of being _"Vengeance"_ was not working. In fact, he believes it helped create _The Riddler.¹_ It had people afraid of him that shouldn't be (such as the guy he saved from the _Joker-looking_ gang, and the initial hesitation people had when he was trying to save them at the end). This film is showing his birth. He reaches a crossroad and decides to be _"Justice"_ (and hope) instead of _"Vengeance."_ And my guess is the picture is also telling us that his _Bruce Wayne_ persona is also going to be doing more going forward. And of course we see how his relationship with _Alfred_ certainly changes after _Alfred_ is almost killed. Great reaction, as always.😎👍 ··•🦇•·· ¹ ─ Of course they both have similarities (e.g., both being orphans, they both keep immaculate, almost manic, journals, etc.).
And that's exactly what Riddler said to him in Arkham. "I'm looking at the real you right now." And he addressed all of his messages to "The Batman" and not "Bruce Wayne." So good.
I learned my lesson with Ledger, never doubt a casting before watching the movie. And Pattinson didn't disappoint. First 15 minutes of the movie I already loved him more as batman than Christian Bale. No disrespect to Bale, he also was decent. But Pattinson's batman actually felt like he struck fear into criminals.
About his haircut: this is supose to be a young Bruce Wayne. At the time of the story he was Batman for only two years. He hasn't the calmness, the experience and the super dope gadgets yet. This also explains his suit (the mask) and vehicles, it's all "selfmade".. I think we will se some big changes in the second one, when he finally accepts that he can use the fortune of his father for good..
i thought this was the best batman movie that depicted him as a detective. like they emphasized him more of a detective than anything else and his answering of the riddles. man epic.
I get what you're saying about it being realistic. I felt that way too. The fight scenes were even more like street fighting not a well trained guy with special martial arts abilities or something. He just seemed like a tortured dude who wants to end corruption in his town...who also happens to be ridiculously wealthy.
Robert Pattinson did fantastic job. Its unfortunate that Nikki did feel the same. I really like this interpretation of Bruce Wayne. The grungy sightly unkempt look he had. Definitely got the Kurt Cobain vibe and aesthetic they were going for. The whole cast was pure perfection. In my opinion this is the best Batman live action movie to date
For Nikki as a reference to liking Bruce Wayne's personnality in the other movies. This persona "bruce wayne rich philanthropist guy" is created later on in the comics, as this is early between year 1 and 3 of being batman. later in the movie when the candidate for mayor says " you do nothing for this city unlike your father did" and Alfred saying you cannot be "just batman" and all... it's hinting at how eventually he will create this philantropist personna. This is very Comic accurate as Bruce wayne identifies as Batman and not as actual Bruce wayne in the comics. Think of it as Steven Grant from moon knight. An alternate personna to deal with real life people.
The chase scene with the penguin in a big theater with big theater speakers was an incredible experience. This movie has a great cast and some great acting and I love the very dark and violent tone they went with it gave some Se7en and Zodiac vibes plus the score was great and how they used the Nirvana song fit perfectly too.
That shot of Batman walking in the dark only being seen by the light from the gunfire was also a callback to a scene in Mat Reeves earlier film War for the planet of the apes in 2017. It seemed like a Batman moment when it came out back then and fits both films perfectly. Now you guys will probably think of this movie if you guys continue the apes trilogy and get to that part
Glad you guys enjoyed this Bat-flik. As a Detective comics fan, I was Plesantly surprised with the direction if this film. I definitely got the Detective feel from it.
I think his mask is the best part , pattinson does so well with the acting , I love how he just slowly walks and observes and his eyes just look so dead but he just stares people down
The Bruce she's talking about is much older i guess, this is a relatively a very young Bruce so he's bound to be a bit fiesty, angsty and stuff like that.
@@A_Planner_and_a_Dreamer a 27-29 year old who is still angry, traumatized..most likely suffering from PTSD. He’s using his anger and aggression by “crime fighting” at night. But as he said..he’s not sure he’s even making any difference anyways because crime is always constant in Gotham..he can’t be everywhere..he can’t stop every crime. As this is his 2nd year as VENGEANCE aka Batman..he hasn’t gotten everything figured out and that also goes with his personal life aka his public image/persona. You can be at any age and still don’t know what you’re doing with your life. IT HAPPENS.
I LOVED this film. I get the reluctance to like Pattinson as Batman but you gotta remember, Batman is still in his infancy in this one. He mentions he's been doing this for just 2 years in the beginning, which explains the small mistakes he makes. He's also on the smaller side still. I can't wait to see the sequel. I hope he bulks up for it.
These are the characters before they fully develop into the comic book versions of the characters. It's the most faithful rendition to the comics and it's a trial by fire and coming of age story and a story of transformation from a symbol of vengeance to a symbol of hope by the end. Everyone killed it in the movie. This is definitely underrated, in my personal opinion. This is bob kane and bill fingers batman.
I believe we dont see much Bruce just because at this point he thinks the only way to save the city is the Batman and he doesn’t think he can do anything meaningful as Bruce and I think the ending he realizes he needs to give hope not fear so when/if we get another movie I think they will explore the Bruce Wayne side way more than this movie
I'm so glad that Pattinson is getting such positive attention after this movie, he is a phenomenal actor who has done some wonderful roles but a majority of people call him "the Twilight Guy" which is a tragedy!
I have to say, I think that The Batman might be the best live-action Batman movie I've ever seen. I was sceptical of Pattinson going into it but he absolutely owned the role and I can't wait to see him in a sequel.
I love how the movie started with "I'm vengeance", and this is a symbol to strike fear, and even the guy he saved feared him. And the growth and arc of the story... By the end he realizes he needs to be a symbol of hope as well to lead people into the light. The fact that riddler really thought they were exposing people together, working together, matched with how batman was seen, the vengeance and fear. Batman needed to be challenged and realize that he was almost a parallel for the very thing he was trying to defeat.
5:37 when Nirvana's "Somethings in the Way" starting playing while he looked at the young boy like himself made me fall in love with this movie instantly. Best Batman movie to date. (Sorry Christopher Nolan). great editing as always
This is such a good movie man. I was so happy I saw this in the theaters. We finally have a Batman that ACTS like a detective. I liked that even though he acts more like a detective, he is still making mistakes which shows that he is not there yet. Same with his skills in combat. It's a YOUNGER Batman man! I also LOVE the batmobile the more I watch it. The sound on that this was insane!
This was a fantastic movie!! I'm a Batman fan, this more of a Detective Batman story which I loved it was different and much needed. Your reaction was awesome keep up the great content the wife and I enjoy your channel alot!!! ❤❤
The perfect, always wins fights, kicks ass, charming businessman, Batman, is usually when he’s a few years in, more than 5 for sure. This is Year Two, Batman in his early days always gets his ass kicked, in Batman Year One he got shot in both legs on his first day on the job and had to take a break for a month.
keep in mind, this is year 2 batman. the same way Nikki said "im getting there." is the same way bruce wayne feels about his place in the world as bruce not batman. a second film has been confirmed and i am sure we can all hope to see more growth in Bruce's journey.
Paul Dano is a terrific actor. Honestly, seeing him in this reminded me of his brief appearance in the movie Taking Lives (2004) and Day and Night (2010). The first film I saw him in was The Girl Next Door (2004), and I certainly never would have figured he'd play The Riddler, especially with as much intensity as he did.
Hope we get another 3-4 movies with him in this direction and story etc. Cause it'll be awesome seeing where this goes and not just 1 more then a reboot and new Batman.
That first, short fight between Batman and Catwoman at the Mayor's house reminded me of Keaton vs Pfeiffer in front of the Ice Princess. "Eat floor. High fiber." LOL
I can see Nikki's point of view on the Bruce Wayne side of it. She's used to the well kept, groomed, pompous billionaire side. This Batman hasn't gotten to that point yet. He's only been Batman for two years in this movie, so he's so consumed with living that Batman persona that he hasn't taken the time to come into being Bruce Wayne yet. Vengeance is his priority right now, and he hasn't realized all the good he can do as Bruce. I believe that in future movies, he'll slowly start to come into being more of himself, and the Batman will come out when needed most. Also, I need much, much more of Paul Dano as the Riddler. He was so incredible in this role.
I adore that Bruce doesn't get the Riddler's plan until it's too late because he's a spoiled rich kid who doesn't recognize a working class tool, like the Ridder expected him to.
i just loveeee watching your videos, just makes my day. Especially when you are reacting to my now most favorite live action Batman movie🥺❤️all actors did a great job really
I love how it shows Bruce realizing how to use his image to get what Batman has to use fists for. Like the club. Batman needed to punch his way in, Bruce just had to ask. This is the beginning of him figuring out the being the public figure Bruce Wayne also has perks! Ingenious writing!!
I absolutely LOVED this movie.. I understand some people have mixed emotions, but as a film in general this was a masterpiece. Matt Reeves killed it! Can't wait to see what happens next. I'm fully invested now.
One thing I really like about this Batman, and you hinted at it when you said something about him feels more “real,” is that this is a self made Batman. He built his suit, hand made/stitched his hardened leather cowl, custom built his batcave (aside from the abandoned station itself), custom built his batcomputer, custom built his gadgets, custom built his Batmobile, custom built his Batcycle… you get the picture. There’s no Morgan Freeman/Lucious Fox making everything for him. There’s no warehouse of discarded, military grade, tools, gear, armor, vehicles, weaponry, etc. And there’s no giant sci-fi looking high tech vehicles with missiles and machine guns that would be impossible for a lone man to build. He’s entirely independent, well educated, and almost supernaturally motivated. He spent years traveling the world, going to the best schools, never getting a degree, but mastering entire fields of study that would aid in his mission. And while traveling abroad to those schools, he also studied and mastered the various local martial arts. (All of this is expanded upon in the prequel comic to this movie) Also, the eye-black grease is something every movie Batman has worn. He’s just the only one whose grease doesn’t magically vanish when he takes off the mask.
This isn't a Bruce Wayne movie; it's The Batman...a film about a vengeance-fueled vigilante that the city is afraid of, BECOMING a hero in the eyes of Gotham. The suave mask of Bruce Wayne hasn't been realized by the young, angry Bruce just yet. That being said, as far as Batman films go, this is easily my fav so far. Perhaps it's because I'm an old fart, but I haven't been entirely impressed with most of them to date, though I did enjoy the Nolan trilogy. And that's saying something as I grew up with the Adam West Batman. ;)
There is almost a phenomenon with the Batman movies, every time they announce an actor in a role, everyone goes "Oh no that person will be awful". Then they go on to absolutely blow it away. Everyone thought Heath Ledger was totally wrong as the Joker but he basically nailed it and became the standard. Robert Pattinson everyone thought "Oh no", and again nailed it.
Literally sat in the theater with CHILLS when the Batmobile first started up....that sinister growl mixed with motorhead magic was EPIC...and the soundtrack...HOLY BATBALLS it was chilling and so dayum good!!
Ben Affleck will always be my favorite Batman, but I knew Robert would replace Bale as my 2nd favorite when this came out. I'm glad I opened my mind up and gave him a chance. My mother wants his batmobile and I'm here like "god please no" LMAO
Riddler didn’t actually know Bruce was the Batman he just kept saying his name because that’s the only person “they” couldn’t get since riddler thought they were working together
If you have seen the movie Se7en (which this Batman movie is HEAVILY inspired from) and also Zodiac and detective movies like L.A Confidential, you can see how much inspiration Mat Reeves had from those movies regarding the tone of the movie, the environment, the Riddler's character especially... it worked RLY good with this Batman version, im still overwhelmed how good this actually was.
paul dano the actor of riddler is also in my personal favorite movie "Prisoners" and he does an amazing performance in that movie aswell so thats a recommendation from me❤️
The thing with superhero movies is they're only as good as the villain, & this version of the Riddler was fantastic, as an orphan myself I really connected with his story, the scene between Batman & Riddler in Arkham was so haunting & yet powerful, one of the best scenes in any movie from my perspective.
Well, that's simply not true. Batman Begins is outstanding, but it's villains, Scarecrow and Ras, aren't exactly great villains. Scarecrow especially seems kind of wasted because he has so little to do. Captain America: Winter Soldier is one of the best mcu movies, and those villains aren't memorable. Logan. X-men first class and days of future past. Great movies. Villains are nothing special.
This movie was Badass! I’m a huge Batman fan and I loved everything about it Robert killed it! The whole cast was amazing. This was like watching a live action graphic novel. Roberts mannerisms and body language especially the way he conveyed emotion using just his eyes was brilliant amazing Batman and riddler is creepy Af!
Robert is my Batman. " he wants to save Gotham, and he does so by making criminals shit their pants. What it's not working , he said so constantly throughout the movie. In the story Alfred treats Bruce warmly but they still have a distance. Alfred genuinely feels like the humanity Bruce once had has been gone in his quest to stop crime. Bruce is just awkward he's weird doesn't know how to act like a person. For example, Christian Bale Batman was a version where he needed to isolate himself for a time to understand what he needs to do, what he needs to become, but he never felt alien. Pattinson Bruce, Pattinson Batman feels alien. The dudes desperate for some kind of relationship that's beyond beating people's faces in but he doesn't allow myself to open up" - Brown table
I don’t get why a lot of people don’t understand that he hasn’t built his Bruce Wayne persona yet. Matt Reeves has stated this multiple times. And so many people the first thing they nitpick about the movie is they weren’t sure about his Bruce Wayne. Bruce isn’t even sure about his persona. It was done on purpose. He’s more focused on his mission and not caring about anything. That’s why you see he gets hit and punches and shots without any caution. And that was his whole arc in the movie. Realizing he can’t just be vengeance. And I feel like she was basing everything on the Bruce Wayne persona instead of the Batman persona which Pattison killed. Easily on of the best Batman,
I personally loved this movie! Paul Dano is such an amazing actor and I am so glad they cast him as The Riddler, who by the way was modeled after the Zodiac Killer especially his costume! Colin was unrecognizable as Penguin and I love that they made Pattinsons' version of Batman as a recluse with severe PTSD instead of the Playboy version! 🖤🦇
I respect Nikki’s opinion, however the comment about Bruce having long hair and looking so disheveled in this version is how I expected someone with childhood trauma to look, especially since this is supposed to be a much younger version of Bruce/Batman than we are used to seeing. I like the previous Batman’s but I like that with Pattinson’s Batman, we will get to see him progressively get better as both Bruce and Batman.
@@yoman5764 Bruce Wayne dresses up as a Bat and beats criminals to a pulp at night all because his parents were shot dead in an alleyway, he’s literally always been emo ya fuckin dope 😂
I totally understand Nikki’s perspective on a cleaner, playboy Bruce Wayne. Which she’s fine to have her own opinion because we all have our preferences/opinions. But I also think it’s a nice change of pace of exploring this side of young Bruce Wayne since we always see the cleaner side of him. Matt Reeves mentioned he wanted this Bruce Wayne to have that emo rockstar quality to him. Which makes sense for this Bruce Wayne and this world. So it’s all intentional. We’ll eventually get that clean, playboy Bruce Wayne we all know as Matt Reeves wants to develop these characters in the sequels.
Riddler is psychotic for sure but he was the right necessary evil that Gotham city needed as much as Gotham found Batman as a force for good. The city was so systemically corrupt that it needed a rude awakening and Riddler was the match. "It Can Be Cruel, Poetic, Or Blind. But When It's Denied, It's Violence You May Find" Answer: Justice.
It's a young Batman : he's not that skilled as Batman, and he doesn't know how to be Bruce Wayne, not realizing how Bruce Wayne has its uses too. He's still super angry, violent, taking unnecessary risks. We barely saw that young Batman ever in movies.
I don't know just how much Alfred was a loving father figure in this adaptation. Not that he mistreated Bruce, but everything he says point to the fact that Alfred was Thomas Wayne's personal bodyguard, not the family butler. This Alfred trained Bruce in hand-to-hand combat, he trained him in becoming the Batman.
I loved this movie! A young vengeful Batman who is coming into his own. Paul Dano did a terrific Riddler and I hope we get too see him in the sequel. And can we please praise the makeup on Collin Farrell? Looks amazing!
This movie rings back to what Michael Cain said in The Dark Knight. Some villains are all about the money (Falcone); some villains just want to watch the world burn (Riddler).
The reason why the mask/helmet looks a little off is twofold: 1- Robert Pattinson's head is bigger than the previous Batman actors. He himself commented about this in an interview saying that the earlier costumes didn't fit him. 2- He didn't want to use steroids for the role, he was natural. His body was ripped, but not jacked. These are the 2 reasons why his helmet looks so big and out of proportion compared to his body.
i was truly shocked at how much i like this movie. i can't stand Robert Pattinson or Zoe Kravitiz so i didn't think The Batman would be worth watching, i only watched it because Matt Reeves did absolutely amazing work in the Planet Of The Apes franchise and i'm glad i gave it a shot.
If you cant stand Pattinson, then you're admitting you've only seen him in twilight and have a very ignorant and limited selection of movie watching. You probably only go see big blockbusters.
Actually I've seen Goblet Of Fire Twilight(just the first one) Water For Elephants Bel Ami Lost City Of Z Tenet (I didn't mind him in this, but I wouldn't say he was great in it either) The Devil All The Time(didn't like the film or him in it) The Batman which I loved both the film and him as Batman. I don't know why but I've just never taken to him, although there is the possibility that maybe my intense dislike for Twilight has tainted my view of him that maybe I'm starting to get over(i plan on checking out The Lighthouse because I've heard it's a great film).

@@Tazza19931 Yeah even though they showed more of his origin he felt more advanced that Battinson. I'm really excited to see Bruce grow some
@@riolkin Me too.
That line was worth the entire movie, and to see his reaction to it.
Agreed, he also slowly became aware of the places/events "Bruce Wayne" could get him into.
batman is also hope.
Paul Dano plays such a good insane person. Him as the Riddler is incredible.
i saw he took some notes from heath ledgers joker
that scene was epic, when the officer asked him, which ones you , and he replied, i dont know you tell me.. fucking hilarious
Paul Dano is a masterpiece...i hope he gets an oscar
Yes
I think Nikki is just used to the older version of Batman. The business guy, well kept, all fancy. 5/6 years into being the Batman. He will get to that phase, but right now he is learning who he is as Bruce Wayne. There's no way to judge Robert as an actor expecting the character he is playing to be a different character.
I also like the more realistic approach of this version because yeah Bruce would be a fucked up outcast

This was a great "Year Two". Batman still learning as he goes + becoming aware that he can help Gotham just as much as Bruce Wayne, as he can as The Bat.

He was an iconic character in a movie it became cool to hate but the actor himself is not bad. I've seen other movies with him and he's a good actor.

As a fan of the comics it’s everything you could want in a batman story
and even majority didn't praise CGI noir like watchmen
The Batman has alot of cgi in it
The last 45 minutes of this movie was a crapfest.
Pattinsons acting in this is extrodinary, the way he manages to act with almost only his eyes is incredible.
Holy shit Senate its so nice to see you here

Love Robert Pattinson as batman the way he stares, he’s so angry and done with everyone’s crap I love it 🦇
We never knew we needed "Emo Pattinson," until we actually got him. lol
I got the opposite out of him. His stares never seemed angrily. Just mostly blank. Either that, or he would look like he's on the verge of tears.

Hes hurt and wants vengeance.

@@gutsinbadanimation2351 ok i disagree but ok
@@crimsonjedi It's not. A shotgun blast to the chest would have barely caused Superman to blink. With Batman, it knocks him on his ass, and he's completely out of it until he injects himself with pure adrenaline. Batman simply has hardcore bulletproof armor, that can hold of low caliber rifle, and pistol shots. Plus armor over the top of the kevlar that deflects direct hits. And nobody in the film ever tries to shoot him in the face, which mystifies me, because that's the one spot where his skin is exposed!
@@crimsonjedi Translation: “I can’t actually address the points you made, so I’m just gonna say you’re triggered. Gets ‘em every time.”

Paul Dano is an AMAZING actor he really puts his entire entity into his characters that he plays hes amazing in ALL of the movies he plays and he brought his VERY own version of riddler and i love it so much
This movie was awesome and I’m so happy to see I guys enjoyed it as well! They even announced that there will be a sequel coming!
Great reaction, as always.😎👍

I don't think so. I think she's being kind unfair and short sighted
@@Okkotsu86275 Nah she's just speaking her opinion.
Bruce has not figured out how to be Bruce Wayne yet. He's been Batman since his parents were murdered. Bruce Wayne is the Alter-ego
And that's exactly what Riddler said to him in Arkham. "I'm looking at the real you right now." And he addressed all of his messages to "The Batman" and not "Bruce Wayne." So good.
@@Pandamonium626 The Riddler didn’t know Bruce Wayne was Batman. That was made clear in that scene and by Matt Reeves after.
I think we will se some big changes in the second one, when he finally accepts that he can use the fortune of his father for good..
i thought this was the best batman movie that depicted him as a detective. like they emphasized him more of a detective than anything else and his answering of the riddles. man epic.
The score which was done by Michael Giacchino he cites one of the main influences being the Imperial March from Star Wars. Very perceptive.
I get what you're saying about it being realistic. I felt that way too. The fight scenes were even more like street fighting not a well trained guy with special martial arts abilities or something. He just seemed like a tortured dude who wants to end corruption in his town...who also happens to be ridiculously wealthy.
I love how when he removes the contact lenses, you can see his eyes are bloodshot from the constant use of them and the lack of sleep
One of the best things about this Batman is that he makes mistakes, he’s not perfect. Real and authentic
I like how Matt Reeves mixed old school feel with modern technology. It really gave the movie a very grounded experience.

I'm so glad that Pattinson is getting such positive attention after this movie, he is a phenomenal actor who has done some wonderful roles but a majority of people call him "the Twilight Guy" which is a tragedy!

The Riddler in this movie was amazing, props to the actor fr.

The Girl Next Door is an underrated film.

That first, short fight between Batman and Catwoman at the Mayor's house reminded me of Keaton vs Pfeiffer in front of the Ice Princess. "Eat floor. High fiber." LOL
As I understand it, they did the scene of Batman getting his parachute caught on the bridge. They had a stunt person do the crash and roll.

(All of this is expanded upon in the prequel comic to this movie)
Also, the eye-black grease is something every movie Batman has worn.
And that's saying something as I grew up with the Adam West Batman. ;)
I’m 19 but I’m surprised that some people don’t get that he just hasn’t found the Bruce Wayne tony stark persona yet
Way better than Bale gargling marbles and brawling as if we weren't supposed to remember he was trained by ninjas.
Except with Pattinson, Snyder fans still can’t admit he did a great job

Logan. The dudes desperate for some kind of relationship that's beyond beating people's faces in but he doesn't allow myself to open up"

This is incredible movies! Paul Dano looks such eerily as Riddler, it blow my mind! Also thanks for your reaction, I really enjoyed.
Penguin make up is incredible. Car fly shot is beautiful!
I was enthralled when I saw this in theaters. The closest to The Dark Knight for My favorite Batman movie.
I love the look on your face when the batmobile growled , the man inside us kicked in thats a muscle car at its best
Finally A Batman Movie Carried By The Batman Himself...Easily tops Dark Knight for me
Lol no
@@leonardoespinal8561 i liked Bale's Bruce Wayne but not his batman...his Batman Was Goofy And not Intimidating...
People wanna see playboy Bruce Wayne at a funeral lol
Exactly!!!
If The Joker was a film about a broken man becoming Irredeemable, than The Batman is a film about a damaged man becoming a Force for Good!
Yup
I loved this movie! A young vengeful Batman who is coming into his own. Paul Dano did a terrific Riddler and I hope we get too see him in the sequel.
And can we please praise the makeup on Collin Farrell? Looks amazing!
All hail the makeup on Colin Farrell!
This movie rings back to what Michael Cain said in The Dark Knight.
Some villains are all about the money (Falcone); some villains just want to watch the world burn (Riddler).
The theater experience for this movie was unparalleled 👌
I bet it was awesome
I had a mf scuffing down a full pizza and 2 bags of popcorn right next to me smacking the entire 3 hours.
I love the shift of the publics perception of The Batman from the beginnings "please dont hurt me" to the endings "please dont leave me"
This movie surpassed all of my expectations by miles. Definitely in the discussion for Best ever
I’ve been waiting for this one. Wish I could have caught it live but c’est la vie.
Audio delayed for anyone else?
Yeah, it’s a known issue
should be fixed now
@@NikkiStevenReact Thank you very much!
The reason why the mask/helmet looks a little off is twofold:
1- Robert Pattinson's head is bigger than the previous Batman actors. He himself commented about this in an interview saying that the earlier costumes didn't fit him.
2- He didn't want to use steroids for the role, he was natural. His body was ripped, but not jacked.
These are the 2 reasons why his helmet looks so big and out of proportion compared to his body.
Unlike Barry Bonds. 🤪
i was truly shocked at how much i like this movie.
i can't stand Robert Pattinson or Zoe Kravitiz so i didn't think The Batman would be worth watching, i only watched it because Matt Reeves did absolutely amazing work in the Planet Of The Apes franchise and i'm glad i gave it a shot.
If you cant stand Pattinson, then you're admitting you've only seen him in twilight and have a very ignorant and limited selection of movie watching. You probably only go see big blockbusters.
Actually I've seen
Goblet Of Fire
Twilight(just the first one)
Water For Elephants
Bel Ami
Lost City Of Z
Tenet (I didn't mind him in this, but I wouldn't say he was great in it either)
The Devil All The Time(didn't like the film or him in it)
The Batman which I loved both the film and him as Batman.
I don't know why but I've just never taken to him, although there is the possibility that maybe my intense dislike for Twilight has tainted my view of him that maybe I'm starting to get over(i plan on checking out The Lighthouse because I've heard it's a great film).
@@Kantami check out good time that movie is so good because of robs performance
