This song was written before 98' and had many influences from The Bends, I remember seeing Chris playing either Just or Iron Lung in the music shop which he used to work in Torquay (Abbey Road) listen to those two tracks and you have some influences there

Some of the main guitar riffs reminds me of some speed up Primus tunes while being total Muse.
