I have to thank you Beth for your reaction as I was at time a kinda fan of Muse that even was popular wasn't really ever the main stream music but I just loved them and they really didn't sound like any other and Matt Bellamys voice isn't very typical either. I don't know about the classical definitions to male bass, baritone or tenor, but what I can hear in this song is that Matt can sustain those highest notes with ease. As I couldn't ever sang any high notes, I dropped my voice half octave lower than others or sometimes a whole octave lower to ber able to sing in a sense those higher notes. I met once an professional opera singer, female, and as we spoked about music and singing, she told me, that my range is more like bass/baritone. But I have to admit that everytime some one can sing almost impossible high notes, my 'hair' is electriced. To everyone who has played piano or keyboards, you know how high notes some people can hit and top that some singers have also very wide range. From male pop singers Morten Harket at the time had quite wide range and I was amazed. I had to try it with piano and see what notes he really sang.. oh boi...
Off the topic I do love your red hair:)
I think the lead vocals are spectacular.
I see Muse, I click.
Best band of the 21th Century
SAME.
Same, Muse FTW 🤘
Showbiz came out 1999

yes 100% best band for the past 20 years.
What you said about having to save your voice is so true. I've seen so many people over the past few years saying that Matt Bellamy's voice isn't as good as it used to be and that there are certain songs that he can't sing anymore. All that because he doesn't often do those hard parts live, when in reality, sure he might not have the same power as he did 15 or 20 years ago, but he can still sing the hard parts like the end of Madness for example, he's just chosen to preserve his voice a bit more since when they're touring, they're doing a show every 2 or 3 nights for several months and if you're not careful enough, you could properly damage your voice
This! I'm grateful he's preserving his voice because I want him to be around and singing for many years to come ❤
@@ThinWhiteAxe Yes! Me too, and it seems that so does he which is good news for us!
I went to see them on stadium tour this summer and I was very afraid of that, part of my love for Muse has always been Matt's vocals live and I was so worried that he would not fully sing the difficult parts. Boy was I wrong, he just sang his heart out like an absolute god for almost 2 hours of the most spectacular show I've ever seen. I honestly have never seen a band so inch perfect live, they just make it look so easy
This is so true. Many people loved his 1999-2005 vocals (so do I!), but you could tell he was not vocally trained, especially when he screamed. I think he hurt his vocal cords during that time. He got a vocal coach in 2012 (which many people say was his vocal peak). He doesn't go that high anymore, but I saw Muse live last year and his technique has improved a lot.
So glad you decided to react to them again! They’re one of my faves. You rock, Beth!
One of my favs too!
Happy to see Muse again, I requested the other 2 songs quite a few years ago now. Map of the Problematique in my opinion feels way more alive more organic on the live version than the studio.
I love all of them. ❤
I think he is king of the falsetto's
I think that King Diamond still the king of the falsetto's, but Matt it's very close.
Matt has an incredible range and if you look at more recent recordings he quite often pulls away from the mic to accommodate his breathing
yeah his mic technique has gotten really good
Saw them at the O2 a couple of months ago. Still as spectacular as ever!
Jealous!!
This is my favorite song of all times and I've studied it so much that every time I listen to it, it makes me cry.
I'll tell you something, you needed to listen the album version and then the live version in one go because they are not the same✨ and if you pause everything to explain all these bits about the band, Matt's voice and the storytelling in the lyrics, it's easier to get lost.
I’ve been a fan of muse since about 2006. So many memories of long drives listening to them or watching the wembly stadium live concerts video. Chills.
I have heard that his vocal cords are much tighter than most folks, so that can explain how, at least when he was younger, was able to just fucking belt that falsetto head shiiiiit
Also - Ive read that Matt uses these certain mics that are ultra sensitive where he can lean back as much as he wants - its totally part of Matts style! That lean back on intense falsetto or screams…brilliant
yeah, and he also pulls away on more intense notes so as to balance the volume
I remember seeing micro cuts live in London many years ago, I was thinking to myself "this guy will not be able to speak ever again after this tour" lol
Yeah, just check out the Hullabaloo concert in 2001. I literally cannot believe someone can sing like that for an hour and a half straight.
I HAVE TO see them perform again - one of my top five songs that I like to watch live. Saw them open for U2 in 2009.
This is my favorite song by them!!!!
I love your muse videos
yes
What I love about this song is the balance of layers, including Bellamy's voice, each coming in to relieve the previous one like a relay race.
So glad tou talk about muse. I love them so much ❤
This concert was riveting start to finish. Taped over two days at Wembley Stadium, the HAARP double set was the live concert dvd and cd. I did get to see them live a few years later during the Resistance tour, but it didn’t have this level of energy, or big stadium sound. So I rewatch this concert at least once a year.
sounds like a load of compression and overdrive on the vocals which would exaggerate the breaths a lot as well but it works, adds to the drama and rhythm
Lyrics
Fear, and panic in the air
I want to be free
From desolation and despair
And I feel like everything I saw
Is being swept away
When I refuse to let you go
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
Life will flash before my eyes
So scattered almost
I want to touch the other side
And no one thinks they are to blame
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
Thanks for sharing!
Ironically when this song first came out I wasn't that keen on it however now its one of my top 5 Muse songs. Fell in love with it when I first saw it live at my first Muse gig.
YES to ALL the Muse!!!! Congratulations on your new song!
One of my fave muse songs
Love their sound. So interesting.
wow, wild, i've been thinking about Starlight these past couple of days. I used to be a fan as a teen and it kind of brought me back to that spirit, but especially to looking at some songs through a different lens because of all that i've learnt throughout the years. This was one of my favourite songs.
Seen them 3 times at festivals, happily hoarse after every one, like most of the audience.
Very stressful song, especially with movie 2012, thousands times listening, and still shaking me. Sometimes i feel that every sound in this song is on needed place, ideal😌
My "Muse", just live it's name ❤
I'm begging you to do more muse 🙇🏻♂️
I know Muse is very popular in the UK and usa...they really are good. Two things pop out...1) Matt Bellamy sounds an awful lot like Gavin Creel...one of our Broadway best; 2) They could be sons of one of my all-time favorites..The Moody Blues. They may be able to create a classic like The Voice someday. They have that ethereal, haunting edge to them.
I was there! They were magnificent!
Wow wow wow fantástico una música con mucha energía 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 me encantó el grupo al cien por cierto que hermosa estás mi H. Prrj ❤ bien Beth 👏👏🍀🍀
This is my all time favorite Muse track
do more muse!!
I'm glad you listened to the good days of Muse
I'm interested to hear your thoughts on one of their latest tracks called Verona :)
Perfect election, Map Of The Problematique is a totally Master pieceeee
BEAUTIFUL BETH ROARS ❤️😍💋
G'day Beth,
My take on what you were saying about people complaing that bands/singers not recreating the recording is...
if you wanted to listen to the recording why did you pay to go see them live when you could have just listened to the recording or watched the Music Video 🤷♂???
For me going to a concert is about taking it to another level, I love the unpredictability of when a band interacts with the audience during songs, plays covers of the songs they love & just goes off playing having fun because it is SO REAL EMOTIONALY, rather than just acting like they are locked away in the studio focused only on themselves trying to make the songs a perfect recreation of the Album/Single.
10:50 black shoes,10:53 red...its Magic :D
Two different nights. Guitar died during that part during one of the nights so they used shots from the other 😎
Id love to see your reaction of 'The Fighter' by In This Moment. Such a unique voice on Maria Brink.
I swear all of the songs during that live at Wembley were incredibly well produced and performed, pick any of them as you will :D
More Muse, please!
hello you can watch Unintended by muse at the same live , so amazing !!
Another great video Beth. Please do another reaction video to Einar Solberg of Leprous. Last year he came out with his first solo release. I love the new song Over the Top. You could also check out some other Leprous songs such as Acquired Taste (Live at Rockefeller Music Hall) and Castaway Angeles. These songs are Einar at his best.
Listen to New Born by Muse thats where he breathes like crazyyyyyyyyyy
My theme song.
Live songs where he saves his voice: The Handler, Dead Inside.
I'll go listen to your songs after this
Thank you!
Also where did you hear this thing about the bees and the honey, I need to buy some for my friend!
I was wondering the same. Didn't found anything online about it.
Sometimes it is even better live, for example ""Butterflies an hurricanes" performed at the same concert is 1000 times better than the recorded version.
I've seen them 7 times so much so I know the variations of the live tracks compared to the album versions I find myself singing those bits even when I listen to the albums, the live versions are far superior to the album versions!
Consider watching Kids Rock for Kids "Hysteria" by Muse. Your brain will melt...
F-R-E-E-E-Y-Y
I got a female singer to sing it with me as a full electronic version !
Love Muse! If you want to check out another band that does a good job combining rock and electronics check out Gacharic Spin -- I Wish I
I'm sorry, "nostalgic"? Thanks for making me feel old 😂
Yep, my dear 30-40-year-olds, Muse is 'nostalgic' now. Go feel old.
Oh hush lol
Go away lol
Hey what about back vocals 😢😢 very underrated
Great reaction as always. Thank you! By the way, you should react Muse's last tour opening band, maybe you remember them, The Warning. They will surprise you live 🤘🏻😎
Matt Bellamy hasn't figured out head voice. That's kind of endearing.
Please please please react to Muse Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 1: Overture.
With lyrics
It's spectacular.
Can you tell Muse wrote this song right after touring with Depeche Mode
Once it was pointed out to me, the way Matt takes those big gasping audible breaths, I can't help but fixate on it. Not in a bad way or anything. It's just part of his style.
It's definitely a choice lol. He doesn't always do it. I personally don't mind it, it's just part of what makes Muse what they are & why I love them, but I also respect people who don't like it.
Dose anyone know where I can find Chris's honey ?
I guess that's @BethRoars secret! Couldn't find a thing about it.
Love your content!!❤ If you want a good listen you should check out Circus Tree covering Go Home by Julien Baker!
pleqse react muse madness
Well with MUSE is usually better than the record :)
Beth do some Breaking Benjamin reactions please.
Hi I would also like you to make a reaction to the new song by Måneskin Valentine.
I hear overtones of U2 all over this song...that "driving force" is a hallmark of U2's music...
Gd fans summoned.
Hi Beth say hello for me...❤ kisses 😘😘
Hello 😊
should watch there newset one muse will of the people
Limitation of his voice? you must be joking, he'll out sing a few performers chest or head voice in his sleep love
