- There's plenty of questions related to eating, drinking and dining on a Royal Caribbean cruise, but this video is all about answering the top 8 most common ones I get asked all the time!
Traditional dining is definitely better! You know exactly when dinner is every night, and it actually becomes an event to look forward to. Also, when you sit in the same place each night, you have the same server/s. You can build rapport with your servers and really get to know them when you talk to them each night.

I completely agree, that is why I could never sail NCL. I love traditional cruising/dining and have always had great tablemates!

In short, if you can't find something to eat on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, you probably shouldn't be on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

The menu is so extensive that the only person who cant find anything to eat on a royal carribean cruise is a dead one.

Bill Stephens there’s single meet up nights a few nights during the cruise, and there’s also special pricing for veterans.
We are Diamond Pluss, both very small eaters. Hubby diabetes, me a gastric bypass. At home we always order one meal to share, and often bring home a small leftover. On ship can we order 1 (one) Speciality Meal package to share?
What about big eaters? Can we order seconds+ in the main dining room? Etc
I believe last day morning disembarkation breakfast, room service will be close.
I'm considering the Refreshment package because my son (12) wants to be able to get mocktails. Would he be able to order those on his own or would I have to be with him? Would he be able to order them from the Bionic Bar?
He shouldn't have a problem ordering mocktails by himself . If im not wrong the bionic bar only serves alcoholic drinks.

No, they are not. Specialty dining packages only covers dinner in the specialty restaurants such as Chops.

Hey Matt! Could I pick your brain a little further about the main dining room? We are sailing Harmony in just a few short weeks. In total there are three sets of couples going on this adventure. We all have my time dining. What if we are all assigned a different dining room? Do we all make reservations for the same time? Can they accommodate all 6 of us at the same table? How does that work? 😅
Melissa Yeaw there is only 1 dining room for my time dining! As far as getting seated together I would go speak to the head waiter as soon as you board to get that sorted out.
If you'd like to dine together each night it would be simpler to get everybody to decide the 6ish or 8ish seating and nail down a table that way. I like the 8ish seating on board even though I never eat that late at home. 6 o'clock seems to come so early on a cruise plus the late seating gives you the option to linger at the table after you eat. Plus ladies who like to dress up a bit and take their time to make a 6ish seating might have to bail back to the room to get ready at 4:30 or 5. Just tossing that out there, I've been on a lot of cruises.
I’ve already reserved my time dining times for every night of my cruise on Ovation. Do we just show up and they seat us right away?

I'm wondering how specifically to use the Unlimited Dining Package. Like, do I tell them when I order, will it tell them when they scan my card or whatever or if I forget to say something will I get charged on top of having the package?
When you have the Dining Package all you have to do is give your seapass card to the waiter and let them know you have the Dining Package. They will then check your card to confirm and you are good to order without being charged. Keep in mind there are a few items at some specialty restaurants like lobster or crab that aren't covered by the Dining Package, but that will be noted on the menu with a price next to it
So I have a 7 night cruise coming up on Quantum of the Seas next month and I have traditional dining. But I’m a little confused because there are like 4 main dining rooms, so will I have to choose one of the dining rooms to go to each night, Will Royal chose it for me when I board, what happens if I would like a different dining room? I hope that makes some kind of sense. Thank you in advance for all your information!
The 4 dining rooms are leftover from an old dining concept Royal Caribbean had at the time Quantum was built. Now they are technically different rooms but the food is exactly the same in each room.

The ultimate dining package includes dollar amounts that can be used in restaurants such as Playmakers,Johnny Rockets Izumi sushi.

Is traditional dining available on The Norwegian Getaway or is it only thru the app? We want to sit with other guests that are not part of our group but I have heard that is not possible. Is that correct ?
NCL is completely freestyle cruising and there not a traditional option with them. I am really interest in the NCL Prima, but the freestyle is a turnoff for me. I am just a traditional cruiser. I love formal nights and having the same wait staff that knows my name, what I like to drink and my habits.
If I pre pay my gratuities, do I still get charged more gratuities with specialty dining package &/or the drink package?

Yes because the gratuities you pre pay covers the dining room staff and cabin attendant

Hi Matt, if I'm booked as part of a group cruise via a travel agent, can I expect to be seated with them for dinner every night? On my booking confirmation it just says the dining time
Automatically, no. But travel agents tend to group their groups together for dinner. Ultimately, you have to ask the TA.

What about the cost of the drink package versus buying your favorite liquor by the bottle at the liquor store on board?
Hard booze you buy on board at the duty free shop is held until the end of the cruise. If you like your booze and wanna cruise I recommend getting the top tier booze/drink package. A US craft beer could be 9-10 bucks a pop. Cocktails even higher. You don't want to spend your time figuring out your tab for the day every time you order something. I did on my first cruise but never again. Royal C ships are a good time.
It’s a thousand bucks for two. That’s 100 of those craft beers in a week. That’s when you break even.

Hey Matt, When are these prices from? I talked to Royal yesterday and they said you can’t bring and drinks on board except 2 bottles of wine or champagne. And they said the room service fee is $10 per order. Is this correct?

On any cruise ship you don't want to wear a tank top to the dining room or a fancy special restaurant. Everywhere else is fine.
I know someone that alternates between steak & spaghetti one night then spaghetti & steak the next. He's a picky eater.

i think so, caribbean countries eat alot of indian food.
There might be some options as part of global dishes, but no specialty restaurant or focus exists in Indian food. Most rc customers are Americans. Maybe in some ports like Singapore they might have more Indian options in the main dining room

I kinda wish you would talk slower, in a more relaxed way. Not slow, just a bit less stressed. I have a hard time watching whole video because it stresses me out. It doesn't cost more to talk at a normal pace. Also, you don't pronounce the company name correctly when you say RoyalCaribbean so fast. Just my 2 cents. I love your content by the way!
