This presentation was a revelation in how it explains that many forget about the big picture when remembering history. Cause and effect are the words which come to mind when contemplating how the actions of a small, Ad-hoc German unit, led by an aggressive officer so influenced the overall outcome of the battle. I was also moved to tears by the images of the memorial to L/SGT Newman left by the widow Doris Newman. Words cannot express one's emotions sometimes. Being of French descent, I simply cannot avoid these emotional outbursts. Please excuse my sentimentality. God bless the families of all the fallen. I would also like to compliment the Dutch Dream Team for their camera work and their unbiased insights.
your 'live stream' shows have never failed to impress and educate!! You always manage to get brilliant presenters and camera teams who add more context and detail to the subjects you focus on. Aas you have said before, every day is a 'school day' and this show is no exception!!! Shame that so-called professional documentary teams generally miss the mark you seem to hit. I guess it is because they already have a particular narrative they wish to focus on, even if it is often factually incorrect😲
Fantastic stream guys. You’ve got a great format Paul; fascinating material, an expert team (including yourself) with incisive detail delivered in impeccable English (a real Dutch thing!). Love the way Edwin just throws in details about the air campaign and 44 RTR’s back story! Hugely impressive! 👏👏 Thanks to all.
Going back into the archives for this one! I am forever in astonishment of the audacity of Market Garden, especially the Garden aspect. Sending a fighting column on such a tight timeline up a single highway. The fact they got so far in that time is incredible. If only Gavin took that bridge (in coming 🪖)
Pity so much history is being plowed under to make way for supermarkets, mini-marts and big corporate buildings. American Civil War battlefields face the same peril😢
Having watched Alan Allport, Jo, Edwin and others from your show Woody. I’m soaking this history up like a sponge. Many thanks!!

Although nearly everything has changed so much, you get a glimpse of how narrow the road was that XXX corps had to travel up

Thanks Paul, I agree the format is special
Autumn Gale is a fantastic book. Not cheap but well worth the cost.
11:26 Looks like somebody forgot to protect the supply transports!!
Great show once again....Many thanks to everyone involved.
Great presentation especially the maps
Thanks!
Without the goatee, you remind me of a young Ford Kiernan, from Still Game
No idea who that is, but thanks
@@WW2TV Oh, he's just an actor/comedian from The UK, i'm in Canada so wasn't sure exactly how well known he is though.
@@WW2TV Still Game, a Scottish comedy - it's on Netflix - I watch it almost every day! I strongly recommend it!

You can still buy Autumn Gale at the Overloon war museum.
A friend of mine father was one of the RASC drivers killed in this action..he was young boy at the time..very sad
Agree. BoB didn’t give the British tank Regiment a fair shake. Considering what they’d been through long before MG
